It's 3am and machine guns are going off in all directions
mowing the enemy down without hesitation
saturated boots are weighing down
kill another, then a dozen more
Heads being decapitated
senses obviated, the sand and hills are cover
palm trees catch splattered blood
on the run were told to kill kill kill
Life is being ended by this tool of power
do what they say
say what they do
programed reactions don't think, just do
Clothes absorbed with mud bugs blood
and more blood
do what they tell you
kill kill kill
Repetitive nature
even though this is not nature
mow em' down and take em' out
don't think, just do
Be all you can be
laugh out loud
fucking pathetic
programmed to move on, do what your told to do
Are you right?
are they wrong?
circle the herd
removing that threat
Life is nothing
you don't know them
you don't owe them
isn't war fun?

Reminds of how my grandpa felt about war. He was a Marine and fought in the Pacific during WWII.
Yeah, my grandfather was in WWII as well. He's no longer with our family and deceased from excess cigarette smoking, but luckily he was only a guard for prisoners and didn't have to kill anyone (as far as I know).

This is great lotus. My brother is getting ready to deploy for Afghanistan, so this really hits home.
Yikes, I am sorry to hear that.
This poem is really dark. I guess that doesnt need to be pointed out. I wonder if the author was writing about war/violence from an american soldiers perspective or just war in general.
