Right now, I doubt it. It's kind of a tough time for me to get away, and I don't really like seeing them at festivals, but as the date gets nearer I might change my mind.

So did Weezer's Green album. The only reason I know that is because I went to one of those record store "midnight on-sale" deals to get Lateralus and when I got the counter the guy in front of me asked, "for that new Weezer record" and everybody kind of laughed.

Pretty amazing that the most expensive festival in the world can sell out a year in advance with no line- up.
Maybe we will get Tool siince they will be in the throws of a world tour.

Not really surprised. It's become so 'in' to attend it. I managed to get my ticket already- glad about that! And yea, I think Tool is a real possibility this time out. Heck, I'd love for Puscifer to do it too. Why not, eh?

Yup. How bout you? Sorry we missed each other this time around. I know it's not for lack of trying. I don't know how groups of more than 2-3 even stay together throughout.
QotSA would be amazing.

Well not ALL coachella tickets are sold out, just the advanced tickets sold out, more will be released after the line up is announced in January. But I did secure a weekend 1 pass. Glad they do layaway, because it is fucking expensive, and they raised it this year. But anywho I seriously hope that mean I have a ticket to see Tool. I think if they get the writing/recording done by early 2013 it would be a possibility. (I know Danny said June/July recording, but after re-listening to an interview promoting the 2011 Big Day Out shows, Danny claimed the album might by out by the end of 2011, and that has not been the case, so who know what will really happen.) Anyway April 2013 is a long fucking ways away, so I guess i shouldn't speculate too much at this point.

I also think that since whatever festival they're doing in Minnesota is being billed as the only show for the rest of the year would also imply a 2013 release.

They changed it. It now says "Only North American show this summer!"

Yeah, one festival date in isolation wouldn't be responsible for delaying the album.

My point was that if they were to release the album this year, they would probably tour for it this year too. Yaknow, like for Lateralus they had a show the day it was released. And for 10k Days they had a show 2 days after it was released.
I'm not saying a single date would delay the album. I'm saying they'll coordinate the release with a tour, and since that's the only show this year, I think it's highly unlikely. Does that make more sense?

Lets put it this way.. after the presale in 2011 the only tickets left were the ones with shuttle bus tickets attatched. So ALL of the regular tickets were sold in the presale (weekend one.)
PS the shuttle was a NIGHTMARE.
This year demand was even higher, so I would bet that all tickets were indeed sold in the presale.
As far as a new Tool album goes...I'm surprised that folks here even try and predict any more. There were a few "experts" on here that strongly predicted it would drop last year.
I don't think that a one-off Tool show impacts it, but a Puscifer tour almost certainly does..

my personal opinion is that not even Tool knows when the new album will come out. they mostly just go with the flow, and get things done when the time comes. depending on their schedules and of course maynards wine/puscifer stuff, the new album will come out whenever the fuck they decide to put some time into it.

I would agree if they were going to produce and engineer it themselves, but there has to be some sort of schedule so people and studios of choice can be booked. This is especially true for the producer, who may be booked with projects years in advance.. .

So there's a show in 9 days, is The Pot video going to makes it's debut in front of a live audience?

Was more just a wish list for Coachella. All I'm saying is IF Tool finishes writting by April, then they might be a possibility for Coachella. Not saying I think it's gonna be done at a certain time. Just mentioned the Danny quote to point out it may be longer than people hope for, since people have seemed to be fixed on the "June/July recording" quote by Danny from the last Boston show.

Maybe it's the diehard fan in me, but I"d like to think Tool has a certain appreciation for Coachella. After all, Maynard double dipped playing with APC one day and Tool the next for the first Coachella ever in '99. And Coachella was the first performance after 10k Days was released.
Okay, it is the diehard Tool and Coachella fan in me, but I hope to god that they're the first headliner to threepeat the festival.

As a fan I was anticipating lateralus and 10000 days. Now I'm just happy to hear Danny saying that by June or July they should be complete. No other rock band can promote like this, in a time where rock has been ituned...

As a fan, I hate when I can hear anybody singing other than Maynard. Of course the parts where he encourages the crowd to sing are the exceptions.
