They have bonus tracks...they just don't have a singer anymore.
Don't worry, the big news in 2014 is the re-re-release of Undertow

sorry about that.
IMHO Puscifer KILLED it at Coachella.
I could have done without World up My Ass and Cuntry Boner but the other songs were great and MJK was in fine spirits.
Balls to The Wall was great!
I took one vid and got some good snaps.
wil post later...

Puscifer did in fact kill it! What a great set. Personally I loved seeing Cuntry Boner, but to each their own. Not much of a fan of the cover of World Up my Ass but Carina is such a good performer that she made it good live. Whole set was a hoot! Was great to see them all having so much fun. Loved all the acid comments from Maynard. Cheers to everyone I talked to during the set change. Have fun everyone who's going next weekend!

Yeah, watched the stream, looked good. Hope someone capped it.
Can't fucking believe Tool again next weekend.
Last few weeks have been surreal, had my second born son (Ihsahn) and I'm on minimal sleep, so it's doing weird things to my perception of time... Still feels like thoe shows should be like a month away.

Didn't really know where to post my intro. Anyway, I've been a longtime fan going on 20 years now. First live show was in '98 @ Ozzfest. Here's the setlist from that show:
Cold and Ugly
Forty-Six & 2
Stinkfist
You Lied
Merkaba
Sober
Eulogy
Opiate
Flood
I have seen them 6x's now and am hoping to do so again (it's been too long!) Probably not till the new album tour.
Been a member of Toolarmy since 2005.

Welcome Paranoid! Are you a Sabbath fan? Or just paranoid?
Sabbath Nation is quite divided on God Is Dead? But I hear the record is outstanding.

Thanks!
I do like Sabbath. So your first assumption is correct! However, I do prefer classic Sabbath as to their newer stuff. God is Dead is pretty good. I have much respect for them to ever say anything negative.
Oh, and 44 is not my age (couple more years :-/ lol) it's my favorite #
So It seems like there's not much going on with this forum for as many members it has. With Toolarmy being pretty much dead in the water I thought there would be more life on the forums. Or is everything on "Facebook" now. Ugh....

Looking forward to taking a gander at the setlists for this upcoming week
It's been a weird, obsessive hobby of mine since the first show on the Lateralus tour in 2001 in Atlanta
Check the setlists almost every show, why?
Who the fuck knows.
Probably waiting for the day for Eulogy to get back into the setlist so I can get my hopes up.

Ahhh, I'll never forgive myself for missing Eulogy in Sydney 2001 - They played it night one, I only got tickets to night two... :-(
Fuck me dead today is going slow (even thought I'm busy as all hell at work)... How is that fair?
I've actually been limiting listening to Tool pretty much since the tour was announced, but it's been non-stop in the office today to get me fired up for these shows.
Kalamazoo.. I'd forgotten how good this bootleg was...

Over here you can expect quality over quantity, we have some real hardcore fans here but very few of the brainwashed "Tool can do nothing wrong" crowd.
Kanaduh has been known to see every show of an entire tour. Thats NUTS.
PS Sabbath Nation is RAVING about "The End of The Begining" from the Anzac tour dates.

Yeah, mate saw them in Brisbane last night, he said pretty much the same also.
Rather surprised at the quality of reviews coming in, to be honest.
Kind of regretting not being able to see them in Sydney tomorrow night... But there's VERY few bands I'll take in a clash over Tool.
(I still agonize over choosing Roger Waters over Tool in Sydney 2007, and Roger was *amazing*, I'm a Floyd obsessive, and I saw Tool twice otherwise on that tour...Still...)

Any chance you could post some setlist updates during the show?

Truth be told, probably couldn't - I'm on Virgin, Australia's crappiest mobile network, and my interet is piss poor. (I have a theory that all the hubs are just old cans tied together with string) also, my "smart"
phone Pre-dates the polio vaccine, just about..
Past experience tells me quite reliably that if I get more than 7 people and a dog in a room together, my connection will go to absolute shit, almost to the point of non-function. I'd probably get the first song up online by the time they start the encore...
Ill have them up ASAP after the show when I've cleared the arena though, but sure someone will beat me to it anyway. But yeah, stay posted around 11 pm AEST either way.

hooker
vicarious
sober
schism
pushit
intension
lateralus
*New synth / drum solo*
Encore:
Jambi
46 & 2
Ænema
Stinkfist.
My opinion about this? it fucking sucks. Maynard fucked up vicarious, he can't hit the fucking notes anymore. Jambi is dead and just slow paste, stinkfist as the last song is wrong, should be the opener and drop hooker, then add something else. This is the exact same setlist as the one we got 2012, but in a different order and vicarious added, witch they fucked up. I don't have any form of hope regards tool anymore. Make a new album, tour the whole world, release live stuff, then quit. At least may jay.

Double row of top LEDS was exactly the same setup as 2011 Australian tour.

Someone just posted a video of Opiate from Melbourne. Did that one get left out of the set or did they do a two night stint?

Look at Adam, Grandpa Jones up there.
Maynard spending his off-days on the tour at vinyards and practicing judo or some shit.
Can't he just do coke and bang groupies like a normal rock singer? fuckin mashing grapes in between shows. the fuck is that shit

Listen, you're lucky they still come around at all. Most of their generation is dead. They aren't Radiohead. They play aggressive music written over a 22 year period that started in their 20's. Now they're 50.
Also, some of the bum shows in the past few years come from the simple fact that they do these few and far between sets of gigs. Not full blown tours in support of an album. It has always historically taken them two or three weeks to really get in the pocket.
I feel fortunate that they even still feel enough to continue. They certainly don't need the money.
You wanna see Maynard hit some notes. Watch the Madison Square Garden shows from October 2001. And then consider that was 12 years ago.

No major complaints here, just a few minor quibbles, as always.
But yeah, a wonderful way to cap off what's been a pretty insane 6 months touring wise, during which I was about to again see 2 of my top 3 bands, and 6 of my top ten.

Not much said about the Brisbane show but it went really well. I don't think there were any technical issues, no problems with the sound, and mjk actually did a really good job with the vocals I thought. He did't leave out anything, he pulled off some tricky parts in pushit and gave the scream at the end of opiate his all. It seemed like they were in good mindframes imo. Really enjoyed Danny's synth meanderings - they added a more spontaneous element. And Jambi had so much energy that just isn't presnt on the record. I adore the albums but have realised that the songs are made to be witnessed live. Now I pine for an evening as good as that one.

Been a fan of TOOL since 93'. Started going to their live shows in 98'. 7 years after their last album came out and still no new material. Safe to say when they finally push out this next album it will most likely be their last...sad but true. They're too up there in age now to be taking these 4-6 year hiatuses so enjoy the next one when it drops people. Kinda like watching an old friend die slowly. Still appreciate the stuff they gave us while they could though.
Wish Jimmy had taken more time writting lyrics for TOOL stuff but grapes and Puscifer seem to be his priority lately. For the people saying everyone "puts it all on Maynard" when it comes to the negative regarding TOOL...I agree with that to a certain extent. But when it comes to how long it's taking for this next album to hit, all the news Blair posted about TOOL working on the new material at the Loft mentioned that Danny, Adam, and Justin were hard at work writting new material...soooo yeah.
One key part seems to be missing there doesn't it?

From what I understand Maynard does the vocals AFTER the music is written so if there is no music to give to Maynard how can he put vocals to it?

Did the band play anything that sounded like it could be music for the new album on this latest tour? I have heard the intro to schism (2012 tour) and the experimental stuff via Danny's new synth machine (recent tour), but were any other new riffs played? Or, did the intro to schism change at all since 2012?

Not really, there were some new bits and pieces such as the drum solo with Danny's synth, and a new extension for Lateralus (mainly just a guitar solo by Adam). The Schism intro you talk about was played as well, but sounded identical to the one from 2012 to me.
