You're the only one who can hold your head up high,
Shake your fists at the gates saying:
"I have come home now!
Fetch me the spirit, the son, and the father.
Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended.
It's time now!
My time now!
Give me my, give me my wings!"

But I think the best part really is knowing that I have in my music collection a band with more ideas and chill-inducing emotion than anyone else...and that makes me feel the best.

I wrote about that part, how its similar to the riff on RATM's "Bulls On Parade", which is RATM's best moment, but its TooL's second best on 10000 Days.
The best is the end of Vicarious, this is TooL at their most perfect and epic.
The slow and mellow starting at 5 minutes.
The buildup (Danny[s best] of course) at 5:33
Maynard(s best) coming in at 5:43
Adam(s best) at 6:03
Justin(s best) at 6:13
Dips at 6:23............
All 4 exploding climax at 6:33
This is not something you get from cutting and pasting after a few days of jamming, this alone takes weeks, months to create and perfect.

10,000 days (wings pt. 2)
"what are they gonna do when the lights go down?...
...give me my wings."
This part in this song, this whole album really, is a huge shift, and it builds up until the last line i quoted: give me my wings. It's a change from maynard singing through a struggle, and coming out refreshed, with clarity. Of course, the music makes up 75% of this feeling. After the breakdown, and the echoed "give me my wings" it gets more and more decisive, i liken it to parabol/parabola during the "we have come to find that we are all one mind."
As a package (wings pt 1 and 2) is a perfect progression of serenity, intensity and back full circle. Perhaps TOOL's masterpiece, but then again there are many of those. ;)

for sure, but i think that is second to my favorite part in rosetta stoned, and probably the most fist-pounding badass shit:
So alive in this way
Like an apparition,
He had me crying out,
"Fuck me
It's gotta be
Deadhead
Chemistry
The bottom got on top of me
Got me seein' E-motherfuckin'-T!"
followed by the awesome tabla and psychadelic bass lick...yea, probably my favorite moment right now.
*i also first thought, and still like to, that the first line to that isnt "so alive," but instead "so a lion is waiting". i like that better.

wtf...
Im starting to question those who don't find the greatness in the music AND lyrics of the climax of Vicarious, no wonder the you can't find whats missing in some other tracks.
Each verse builds with meaning as the music (Danny) builds with momentum, until the culmination at the end.
"Credulous at best, your desire to believe in, angels in the hearts of men...
<level up> Pull your head on out your hippie haze, and give a listen, shouldn't have to say it all again
<level up> The universe is hostile, so impersonal, devour to survive... so it is, so it's always BEEEEEENNN
<pause> We all feed on tragedy, Like blood to a vampire
<peak explosion> Vicariously I live while the whole world dies
Much better you than I

Jambi - "Breathe in union"
" Dam my eyes if the shoudl compromise"
Wings Part 1 - "What have I done... to be worthy"
When everything stops and maynard drags out the "worthy" I get chills every fucking time.
Rosetta Stoned - When maynard goes "high, hi-i-i-igh..." awesome
The electric drums in intension
Rosetta -

I'm really saddened to see that all of these moments are Maynard moments. The other three are pretty good too, I swear

Yeah that part puts feelings of lateralus (the song) right back in my chest.
One for me: On The Pot, the breakdown with the riff that sounds like Forty-Six & 2 is some all-out jam goodness. Danny the god descends from his cloud to lay down some really really simple 4/4 as he lets Adam/Justin remind you that Tool is in the business of making rock music.
Also, the guitar that starts out Right in Two is a really thick and beautiful melody. Great transition from Intension. The rest of the song is just a Tool moment in itself.

the heavy-as-fuck riff right after the talkbox solo in jambi is the shit, as well.

I have really fallen in love with the the third verse in Right In Two. What is so great about this song is that in each verse, there is a new part for all three instruments. Danny goes from light cymbal work in the first verse, to the tabla in the second verse and finally to his full kit in the last verse before chorus number 1. Justin starts with the harmonics and bending, then goes to a different riff with another effects pedal and finally brings the full, thick bass tone to the third verse. Adam starts with a cleanly picked riff that will later form the chorus, then moves to some higher notes and a new riff on the low D and ends with a neat little jam on that palm-muted mini-bridge riff. Even Maynard mixes it up and achieves stunningly beautiful results in the way he sings "How they survive so misguided is a mystery...".
From 3:10 until the chorus kicks in is where all 4 hit their stride and it's one of the best moments on the album.

"Judith Marie unconditional one" You have too be stone not too get at least a lump in your throat. Also "Prayed like a martyr dusk till dawn begged like a hooker all night long" Also "Foot in mouth and head up asshole" All great but the first one I listed is my favorite very close too the "So good to see you once again I thought that you were hiding from me" Part in Third Eye or the "She resusitates the hopeless" part in Reflection.
