I've never notice him do it live, but even if he does he's just looking after his voice. I'd rather him still have a voice to make more music.
Anyway, bands do this all the time.

Yeah you're right, its always different live. More pressure and stuff.
Maybe a full power scream just isn't appropriate for that song when the others have so much more emotion, that needs to be screamed ( like Eulogy and H )

tehre are a lot of moments where i cringe at the singing from his live videos because he seems to go flat a lot and sound a bit more whiney than i can stand. maybe its just acoustics or shitty audion quality i could be wrong. there are other moments where he's really good too though that i find cool. as far as screaming i don't know. i'm betting he doesn't do it very well live. in the studio he's got a lot more time to practice... mess with effects... etc etc. by the way you've got a pretty face there rivek. i'm glad i get to look at it everytime your posts come up.

I suppose that has nothing to do with why" Manyard pulls of a scream."....I just wanted to vent my fustration of the cancelled tool concert in Missoula. I also would like retract my statement. And with that: I had mixed cd from the most recent Saskatoon, CA. set list with what would've been a great show!!! Time to listen to 10KD and show compassion of the band and get thoroughly Baked outta my head... :>)) I also wish that Maynard have a fast a speedy recovery... "Wish it all away"
