Bigfoot IS an alien.

If by alien, you mean interdimensional traveler.

tool knows there is no love in fear. the band also knows that this album will serve as a spark to a flame for people to grow internally and thus learn to become more loving and more caring. That is because of tool and the amount of attention to detail and dedication to the love of the craft implanted into this upcoming album will be one that resonates with the collective unconscious for the betterment of everyone.

What is the consensus setlist for TOOLFi tour?

Will it be New album+Schism,Sober,Stinkfist?
More of a mix, less new album?
Lateralus did not have all songs premiered at first show, iirc.

What do you think, toolies?

They'll need to cruise the rest of the way in the set just to survive the tour.
I tend to agree with this line of thinking. But if you were to choose one anomaly for the night you go to see them, which song do you want to be present for?

4 degrees

But I've been lucky enough to see almost every song performed live (if they've played it, I believe I've seen it with a few exceptions)

I know it's unoriginal and it's only a cover, but No Quarter. I've only seen them live once though so I may not have a dog in the fight

For me it will always be Jimmy. I know they won't do it. But then I never thought I'd see Ticks performed live either.

From Aenima I would really like to hear jimmy as well. Best track after Aenema on that record.
From Lateralus the only song I haven't heard live is the Patient.
Heard all from 10,000 Days except full length Intension.
From Undertow I would love Undertow.
I saw Intension the first time played at the Red Rocks in Colorado and there was so much chatter and yapping during it, I almost got in several fights telling hipsters to shut the fuck up.

(Kind off odd Setlist FM has the FTP for Intension wrong.)

Being a huge Kyuss fan I wish they would break out Demon Cleaner again, but that's as abouts unrealistic as it gets.

I could die happy if I heard Cold and Ugly live. When it comes to the quieter songs, I'd like to hear things like Disposition or intension but I know that crowds are incapable of shutting the fuck up. I saw them do Wings For Marie live and people just didn't stop talking, until the heavy bit, when they whooped and yelled.

It is unreasonable to expect silence from a large group of people. And it’s a rock show, thus the yelling.

That's different from conversations and general chatter, in talking about people who were ignoring the show and talking amongst themselves. Loudly.

It's an epidemic.

I think that bootlegs make this phenomenon much more noticable than when you're there in person. Usually I'm absorbed enough in the show that I couldn't give two fucks what the person next to me is doing.

And given that a number come from a festival setting, it's no real surprise that not everyone is engaged.

People can’t sing at shows? That’s the grumpiest shit I ever heard.

Not that I ever got a “sing along” vibe at Tool shows, but cmon.

Out of anything I want to hear the Salival version of Pushit again. Saw it in 2001 and so many shows later it was still the best live Tool moment for me.

It's only an issue with the quieter numbers for me. In the case of Intension, it was clear that 90% had no idea what it was (maybe thinking
it was a taped interlude) and were just plain not interested.

I've been to some theater shows back in the day where you could hear a pin drop and all 1,200 of of us were hanging on every note.

But that was a long time ago...

I saw the debut of Wings in L.A. both nights and that was as spine tingly as it gets. My hands started shaking the first night when the first notes registered and the crowd figured out what was happening. Watching Maynard struggle through it was something else. It looked like he almost gave up and wanted to quit mid-song.

I've seen No Quarter and a Cold Ugly/Commando (ramones) opener too but I always wanted to see Ticks and missed out on it. I doubt they will play it again due to the screaming verses.

One thing is for sure, the setlists will finally be mixed up with the new album. Hallelujah!

I agree with this assessment overall, but considering that all the FI songs are over 10 minutes (excluding CCTrip), I think there'd be some expectation the setlist need be longer to accommodate it. That'd be cool and all, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

My guesses on the setlist:

- Sober
- Schism
- Aenima
- Wings for Marie / 10,000 days
- All major Fear Inocolum Tracks
- Lateralus or The Pot 50/50

Song they will never play again:
Parabola

I was like 14 the last time I saw them live but even *I* want seats at the venue.

I'm pretty sure Wings has been retired.

Wouldn't be a huge surprise if Wings get's played again one day, but I don't expect any deep cuts on the Fear Inoculum tour. Expect FI tracks plus some mix of Schism, Stinkfist, Vicarious, 46&2, Jambi, Aenema and Parabola.

Good pod listen. Interviewer has heard the new album and said all of the songs are 10 mins or more (!) And its more orchestral and layered than previous albums.

Is it next Friday yet?

Yeah, Maynard said in some interview that it would never be played again because it brings up to many raw emotions for him about his Mom.

Hey Junior, I know you can't say much but is the band considering going back to Red Rocks? Those were some epic shows. Your lights on the rocks/walls was incredible. I know you have said its a PITA with the equipment loading in and out but we love seeing you guys there. Pretty Please? With moon rocks on top!

I think this is the last Tool album. Isn't their contract with the label up? They're getting pretty old, I couldn't see them signing another 3 album contract.

Re: bootlegs: I went to an arena show for Ghost recently and literally everyone was sitting there with cameras or cell phone cameras. This ruined the show for me (almost : P ). I hadn't been to an arena since Tool in 2007 so this was pretty jarring. I hope they're confiscating this stuff at the door.
