We skip along on top of the roofs
And feel the breeze in the holes of our masks
I give away most everything I steal
Cause the curse of this town
I that you have to fight for your meals
With a sharp sapling trunk
that I got from the hills.
North was the lake where they thought I had drown
East was the road that went sideways then down
South's where we left our knapsacks and wands
Dripped the dew off the moonlight
that you kept in a cup
Never have I wished for
so much luck
They were keeping bad children
in a cage
They were finding rats with rabies
everyday
Saw a lady scream for Mary
Then turn and say,
“Weren't we promised love
when we slipped from the womb?”
Passed by a sign which read, 'alive when you're dead!'
Tried to give applause, but just had to laugh instead
It's the type of humor that has gotten us this far
When your thoughts aren't attached
you can start to heal these scars
Hands behind my head
and feet across the handle bars
They were keeping bad children
in a cage
They were finding rats with rabies
everyday
Saw a lady scream for Mary
Then turn and say,
“Weren't we promised love
when we slipped from the womb?”
