Can we just make a scalper section on here where us scalpers can sell you counterfeit tickets that are overpriced? That would be greaaaaat.

I don't know yet - just got here. Danny sounds like a good guess. Club Nokoa VIP is nice. It has a seperate entrance and bar. The downside is they just nabbed me for an $11 plastic cup of wine. Lovely. The guy sitting next to me just told me that Maynard will be singing with the opening band. Maybe he is the "special guest"

Welp that ain't it. Opening band is on now. Ok I suppose but it's pretty standard rock fare.

Yup. Full of shit.

I like the venue ok. But whoever designed this thing did not give much though to the view for balcony seating. Far right and left it is obstructed. Fortunately there is enough room to move around.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)

Very enjoyable show once I got situated down on the floor with some real fans. Danny! Nice guest spot there during Queen Bee. Visually the show was excellent. Sort of a mixed bag but something for everyone I think. The sound was close to perfect. I was a little worried about that after all the kvetching going on after last weekend's shows by Prince at the two Nokias. No problem tonight. A slick show with an engaged Maynard. Rocket Man was a high point.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)

the double drum action with tim and danny was awesome. tim was much more prominent and forceful with his playing in this show as opposed to first show in vegas. the night started off real well, i went up to the box office to buy a single seat for tomorrow...front row center section. will be swell to stumble over there after the lakers game. into the presence impressed me as they always do, short set though, 25 minutes. i should have gotten up for some free money from the preacher character, that was classic. yep, the sound at club nokia was good, as it was for beck last year. (george clinton in january had problems). rocket man came out of left field but they made the most out of it. a strong effort by all involved!

I gave serious thought to seeing it tomorrow night as well. Enjoy! It's really a nice departure and Maynard's love for this project was clearly showing through tonight. Definitely a good venture for him and all the musicians involved.

The sound guy (John Lemon) who has been doing the Puscifer shows is one of the best I've worked with. I think he proved that Prince's problems weren't necessarily the Nokia's fault.

Extra special guest #2 on deck for Sunday night. This one was in attendance tonight, but didn't play.
I don't know if Danny is going to play Sunday night (there's a Lakers game, but it's early and right across the street). I think he's going to try to attend after the game, at least.

Is this the "Rocket Man" as recorded by MJK for the film, "The Heart is a Drum Machine"?

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)

sunday had billy howerdel guesting on one song. i felt that last night was more focused on the music than the live sketches and video segments. no tim alexander, unfortunately, as ITP left to tour out east but the other musicians were stellar. not sure of the names of the different rhythm section but gil cherone was on drums for a bit along with jonny polonsky on guitar/keys, juliette commagere on vocals/keys/guitar and milla jovovich for 1 song. jay johnstone provided some comic relief as he wore a tutu and, briefly, a hitler mustache. the stage was set up like a campsite and danny carey and rynne (?) sat around the fake fire "roasting" weenies and marshmallows for a few minutes. they did the rocket man cover again. oh and jose freese sat in as well for the 2nd to last song. a powerful show to cap off a great weekend.

I got tickets too! Damn that felt good buying tickets for Tool again, except for the $15 convenience fee and $10 facility fee on top of the $90 ticket fee. Can't we just say that the tickets cost $115 assholes?!

$115? Ouch!
But I agree, it is pretty cool scoring a pair of TOOL tickets.

Well Blair claims there are going to be presales for ToolArmy members. It's always dangerous reading into what that guy posts but sure sounds to me like there will be some non-festival dates as well. Why would they need presales if it's just going to be festivals?

It makes no sense they would do just festivals here in NA. For Tool, pulling together a live show must be an enormous task and it simply does not make any sense for them to restrict it to the handful of large summer festivals here. If this is just a "cash grab" then it makes even less sense considering their huge following. Frankly this all probably falls somewhere in the middle. There is no doubt they will announce standalone shows at some point.

Edit- and yea I finally pushed this bitch to page 133

I guess we'll know about the tour before Blair. He's a couple of weeks behind on the Jersey and Denver dates.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PETE!

Cheers to TOOL's manager, Pete, who... knows all the tour dates (except for one)

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)

Posted on ToolArmy:

REGARDING THE TOOL SUMMER TOUR
As of now, there are only about a dozen shows planned, scattered throughout the United States of America. When the shows are confirmed, and the BAND'S booking agent and/or management gives me the go-ahead - and ONLY when they give me the go-ahead (for contractual obligations), I will post them. Just because a radio station or venue, etc. announces a show, doesn't necessarily mean that it has been confirmed (although, in most cases, it's a pretty good indication that the show is a go). Remember, even TicketMaster prematurely listed a few shows last summer, and they had to later pull them. Either way, to repeat: I'm not going to post a show date until I'm given the go-ahead by the band's management, even if I have prior knowledge of the show. Period. At a meeting yesterday, I was told that there will be TA pre-sales for many of the shows yet to be confirmed and announced. I expect this to be the case. Will there be any more shows besides the dozen or so? Possibly. We'll just have to wait and see.

I'm sure this is in response to all the shit the TA members were giving him for posting the 2 dates a week or two after they'd been announced elsewhere, and to make sure we understand that although he might know info about some of the dates, he isn't allowed to post anything concerning them until he gets the go ahead from the band/management.

I hope you are right and Toronto is included! I would be surprised with Vancouver AND Montreal being included with Toronto. 3 Canadian dates out of 12 sounds unlikely.

This is random, but all of the fish blair listed for the birthday dinner for camella, are either impossible to catch because of the depth they live in, or impossible to eat, or both.
Kinda weird, it's probably nothing...

I thought maybe they were all indigenous to the regions where the Tool shows are going to take place, but I'm too lazy to look it up.
