Junior, man, how much is the Nard paying you to spread the word?

Also, are you any part of this upcoming shenanigans?

I'm not getting any compensation for promotions. Just spreading the word on my own.
Also, it was kinda quiet in here.

Yes, I am involved in the shows next week. I think it will be interesting, for sure.

So I assume you will be responsible for lighting and such?

Interesting for sure...but what the hell is the show supposed to be? There was a link on Toolband.com of a youtube clip by Maynard about it but not many questions were answered. Any ideas?

Lighting, mostly.

We shall see, what it is to be.
The YouTube clip describes it better than I could even begin to attempt.

Hmmm. You should give a brief "review" of the shows for all of us "inquiring minds". I will be curious if "any members of Tool will be there". "That is classified".

I don't think I'd be the most objective reviewer.

I'm more interested to hear others opinions. I'm sure there'll be some tn people there.

Maybe when it's all done on Monday.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)

wow, that was weird...but also very enjoyable.

first of all, the roads (mostly I-15) were terrible so i almost didn't make it but miraculously sailed into the palms parking lot at 7. the floor was all reserved seating, unlike the tool shows there in 2007, but people stood and danced which was interesting considering some of the puscifer performance included sketches/variety show segments that were pre-taped and/or live.

anyway, here's how it went down. uncle scratch's gospel revival opened for a half hour and they were amusing but nothing to write home about musically. their parodic bible-thumping personas fit well with one of the themes of the evening, however. for puscifer it was a very lounge-y atmosphere with couches on stage for the musicians to relax when they weren't playing on a particular song. there were two pre-taped segments shown to the crowd before the music began. the first was a Major Douche bit with maynard telling us the dos and don'ts of the show. then a "What is Puscifer" short - these were really funny and there were three of them interspersed throughout the set.

maynard played the role of an overweight, balding evangelist in the first and only live sketch that had a nun, priest and Indian guru/self healer named Punjab (Poon-Job). this character was reprised twice more in pre-taped segments where he was in a hotel room with three strippers, a rather large dildo and glass bong. there was some comedic gold wrapped up in all of this, though it was rather convoluted at first witness.

as for the music...very well done. the puscifer songs were done in different tempos, i think a few new songs were debuted (not sure) and milla jovovich sang on one song towards the end. i don't know many of the names but they did dozo, indigo children, rev 22:20 and others, probably 10 or so total songs were played.

the most striking part of the concert, besides hearing the songs come to life, was of course junior's lighting - great choice of colors to illuminate a giant white backdrop - and a weird microphone/camera that maynard and a female vocalist (didn't catch the name) stood behind. it had a wrap or fisheye effect on their heads, and because you couldn't exactly see their faces at the same time, lent the performance a very surreal quality. kind of like max headroom in a way, remember that old show?

the performers looked like they were having as good a time as the audience, drinking wine (caduceus i'm sure) and also fooling around online with a laptop. tim was twittering live here's the link http://twitter.com/timalexander

so, there was plenty more going on than i could describe in this post but this gets a lot of the main points across. plus i'm only working off of 2 hours sleep. for tonight and sunday's shows expect the unusual, funny, groovy, danceable, offensive and you won't be disappointed. the whole thing was quintessentially maynard

I have no idea right now about that.
As for any future performances, I think everyone that was involved in making this happen is currently still soaking it all in and trying to get a better understanding of what just happened, and what can happen with Puscifer.
Over all, I think it went quite well.

How much I would love to make money off my music as resulting of making money off previous music and other assorted musics.

Well, that's the cynical way to look at it haha (Hey, with a Creative Writing degree it's not exactly signing up for Wall Street!)

I'd be down to get super baked and goto a Puscifer show, and I hardly smoke weed. The man can do no bad!

The 2/14 Puscifer show far exceeded my wildest expectations. We were fortunate enough to be on the floor, section E. I think audio recordings of Puscifer fail to capture the full depth of the experience....this is material best performed live. The Pearl was the perfect venue. Our show missed out on the live sketch comedy routine, but it was more than made up for in musical interludes and comedy clips about Nazi war criminal offspring cookie recipes. All in all...a fantastic weekend. The show set the perfect stage for me to propose to my girlfriend (now fiance). Thanks Puscifer!

I agree. I wasn't sure how most of these songs would translate to a live rendition, but I think the band far surpassed my expectations. The songs took on an energy that wasn't apparent to me in the original recordings.

tim alexander is one hell of a drummer/musician. really creative, using other synths and electronic toys while drumming. the show would be worth seeing him, let alone the other talent involved with this supergroup.

i would gladly catch a live show, ive enjoyed most of the puscifer, but its all got an electronic/modern feel to it. a sound ive always liked.

As far as I know, Milla only performed at Friday's performance. I got the impression that the first night was geared more towards the entertainment press, hence the live sketches and appearance by Milla. The 2/14 performance was more Mr. Show type comedy clips with a slightly tweaked setlist. I'd be curious to know which night was the favorite for anyone who attended all 3 shows...

Either way, the show rocked. The only thing that bugged was this idiot chick behind me that kept yelling, "I love you Maynard" "Maynard, you're such a genius". She was such a tard that she was yelling these things to the drummer from the opening band, because he was bald and resembled Maynard. Someone had to correct her. At the end of the show, she approached the stage trying to get his attention, only to have Maynard give her a good ol' thumbs down farting expression, crushing the poor girl's dreams for life. She started to cry. Classic!

The biggest differences between the 3 nights, from my perspective:

Milla was only there the first night. The main female vocalist (Juliette Commagere) sang her part on "The Mission" the next 2 nights.

The first night was themed around a religious talk show and the "Reverend Soquet" character. There was live action for the talk show segment featuring Jackie Harris, Paul Greenberg, Laura Milligan, and Maynard. Reverend Soquet also appeared in a few of the video segments.
Joshua Eustis sang with Juliette on "Sour Grapes" while Maynard was in character.
The rhythm section was Gil and Rani Sharone, with occasional drumming from Tim Alexander (between Twittering) on the Stage Right drum kit.

The second night was themed around a cooking show called "Tough Cookies". It was only on video and did not include any live acting.
The rhythm section was Jeff Friedl and Matt McJunkins, with occasional drumming from Tim Alexander (still Twittering) on the Stage Right drum kit. The Stage Left drum kit was set up left handed for Jeff.

The third night, having been added after the first two went on sale, didn't have a theme, per se.
It started with Maynard in his Airstream trailer (parked on stage) wondering why there were a bunch of people outside, and then calling the Tour Manager to find out what was going on. He was informed of the third show and then started calling band members to let them know. They showed up one at a time and the arrangements of the songs accommodated the various members that were present.
Both rhythm sections were involved in this show at various times. The Stage Left drum kit remained left handed for Jeff, so Gil played his parts on the Stage Right kit, with the exception of one song which he played left handed on Jeffs kit. Tim Alexander played drums on a few songs in between stumbling around in a nurses outfit and hanging out at the campfire with Brother Ed and Brother Ant from Uncle Scratch's Gospel Revival, as well as Jackie & Paul and anyone else who was hanging around.
Juliette married Joachim Cooder just prior to the last musical segment. Maynard performed the ceremony, and it is binding.

Other variables from night to night were the video segments. "What is Puscifer?" featured a number of comedians, actors and musicians such as Brian Posehn, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Tom Kenny & Jill Talley, Jackie & Paul Danny Lohner....
There were also a few "Cult of Bob" videos. One of these played all 3 nights while the others were different.
The songs were in a different order each night, and many of them had either slightly different or even radically different arrangements. Momma Sed, Indigo Children, Vagina Mine, and REV 22:20 were most notably different.

The only constants were Jonny Polonsky on guitar and keys, Juliette on vocals, Tim Alexander on Twitter (and drums, sometimes), and Maynard on vocals. Every night also opened with Major Douche and his "Patton-esque" video about flash cameras and recording devices.

That's the best that I can remember, so I'm probably missing a few things.

I remember hearing that. Specifically the part during Uncle Scratch's Gospel Revival.
I was wondering how many people thought Brother Ed was Maynard. I thought Brother Ant (guitarist) resembled David Cross a little bit at times, too.
