this all depends on your standards.... a piece of crap violin (which, mind you, is already quite expensive) may be good enough.

atm, i only own a regular violin, not an electric one(im broke). but the one i own was $800, which was not really top of the line(still a very nice sound), but they run really expensive.
If i was going to get an electric violin id get something like this: http://www.electricviolinshop.com/cw...=44&category=6.
its going to run you around $1000, but is probably the best buy if your looking for something with a decent sound but a cheaper price tag

My gear.
-Epiphone Les Paul Custom Plus
-Johnson J-Station Pre-Amp
-Marshall AVT150H Head, with a Marshall 4X10 Cabinet
-CryBaby Wah pedal of course
-Shitty/cool '60's era Philips Tonemaster amp which electrocutes the FUCK out of you
-DEATH METAL DISTORTION PEDAL! Lame, but in conjunction with other gear, it can sound pretty rad.

Well okay if we're going to list ALL of our gear....
Epiphone LP Standard (With Duncan pickups, new electronics, parts, etc.)
96 Fender Jaguar (with duncan pickups, new electronics, rewired, etc.)
65 Fende Mustang (duncan hot rails at bridge, new electronics, etc.)
96 Jag-Stang (dont play it much, duncan JB at bridge, rewired, modified, etc.)
Pretty much all of them have Schaller locking tuners or equivalent quality tuners (Fender stock tuners lick donkey nuts)
Art and Luthery (Godin) acoustic/electric with cutaway. nothing special.
Amps (Everything listed here was made by my father for me):
-Fender Super Reverb (built to '65 Fender specs except for more powerful Output Transformer and 6L6 output tubes)
-Fender '75
-Fender Practice Amp (combo) with JBL E-120 Speaker (see below...)
Cabs (everything listed here, too, was made by my father)
-2x12" JBL E-120 (300w ridiculously good speakers)
-1xJBL Compression Driver/Horn (ridiculous amount of highs)
-1x15" JBL E-140 (15" driver, loud, ridiculously efficient and loud)
-1x15" JBL E-140 (no, not a typo, I have two of these in cabs)
Effects (* = in my main FX chain):
*Boss tu-2 tuner
*Dunlop 535Q wah
*Mesa Boogie V-Twin preamp/distortion
*EH Poly Flange
*Boss DD-5 Delay w/ Tap Tempo
*Boss EQ
EH Big Muff (i have something like 4 of these around the house)
EH Small Clone chorus
EH Small Stone phaser
Zoom 505 (first effects box, an absolute piece of shit)
Dunlop Volume pedal (its a ridiculous size, so i rarely use it)
Boss MT-2 (well, I have a mesa boogie preamp now)
probably a bunch more, can't remember....
other guitars I had/sold/traded:
-96 Jag-Stang (a diff one)
-Univox Mosrite Hi-Flyer copy
-Fender Mexican Stratocaster
I think that's about everything...everyone says my basement looks like a guitar shop, I like when they say that :) I constantly get compliments on my rig from techs and gurus at shows/soundchecks, etc. which feels cool and its always fun to talk gear with other gear heads.

Re: Post Your Instruments

True, I was a Cobain nut when I was a kid. The Mustang is fun to play, but not one of my main axes. I got it as a junk pile, and it was an awesome project to refinish it competition blue, hunt down parts for it and make it into a player's guitar. It is one of the rarer models with the 22.5" scale, but it currently has a reissue Mustang's 24" neck on it.
The Jag-Stang (like most stock fenders) is a joke of a guitar off the shelf. But I locked the bridge/tailpice, swapped the pickups, upgraded the tuners and electronics, and its a great guitar now. I rarely play it, too. My last Jag-Stang I sold for $1,600, had maybe half that invested in it.
The Jaguar on the other hand is my absolute baby. Plays like a dream and sounds incredible. Duncan JB at the bridge, Jazz at the neck, infinite number of pickup combinations via the switches, perfect action, perfect neck, excellent balance, great tone, I love everything about it. Locked the tremolo, added Sperzel locking tuners, upgraded the electronics, etc...
I am a huge fan of shorter scale necks, I don't like 25.5" scales like strats, feel too bulky to me.

What do you think of these pedals?
I like smaller necks too, but sometimes those Mustangs just feel like toys. Strat necks are perfect size, for me at least.

It seems aa lot of you like strats, can you tell me why that is? I personally like the playability of Les Pauls.

1.) A good strat costs far less then a good LP
2.) My strat has more tonal variety (1 humbucker and 2 single coils)
3.) Strats weigh a lot less
4.) I like strat necks more
5.) Strats are great for blues, rock, funk, jazz, metal, whereas I only see LPs used for rock and metal and occaisonally blues
you get the point.

1. guitars are expensive either way
2. I don't know about the tonal quality being better, the strats I've played on all give bad feedback, too loud/high pitched. but the regular note playing sounds decent
3. weight isn't an issue all guitars are light and mobile enough to do whatever you want with them
4. There are a few different necks on LPs. But, I see what you are talking about.
5. I only play rock, metal and blues and some hippie ass trippy shit.
