it is a total of somewhere around 137 tricolor gum bichromate prints

Re: coping with a physical existance

quite beautiful zinnia. I like the muted colors and movement of the work while still showing what appears to be a landscape as the overall.

I have also had some wine.

But I like what you have done with it.

Quite entrancing! The only problem is, now I feel compelled to destroy all the pictures I have taken of the sky =o(

Re: coping with a physical existance

gum bichromate is an incredibly elastic and temperamental photographic process
it's also a lot of fun
essentially gum arabic is sensitized with either potassium or ammonium bichromate
you can add pigment to this mixture, brush it on paper, and expose it
uv light causes the bichromate to harden trapping the pigment in the process
just leave the print face down in water and all the unexposed solution falls away
you can manipulate the image while it's still wet and layer exposures
so in the end it becomes a malleable photographic screen print

that is a picture of the rocky mountains

there's some interesting things going on there centered around climate change...
but the final piece is divided into a polar grid and the golden mean spiral is on top... it pops out
the center looks like a shutter on a camera which i think is cool cuz my friend liz is taking a picture in that direction
the end
