I've posted this link here before, but our lineup has changed and so consequently has our music. We are now %100 instrumental. We have about 10 completed songs that we'll be rotating around on our myspace over the coming weeks. Just curious to see what you guys think.

Thanks aabb. Appreciate you checking us out and commenting. Apparently something about my approach in posting this has made everyone afraid to even open the thread to check it out. only 14 views. :-/ Oh well. Thanks again, though.

Appreciate the feedback and thanks for listening, people. For a moment, i thought this thread was going to fade away unnoticed. Regarding downloading our music... we will have demos available shortly. We would have no problem sending one out, electronically or snail-mail.. your preference.

very cool, excellent atmosphere-building... Maranello reminds me of Tool's No Quarter cover. I really like what you guys are doing, kind of like a metal version of Mogwai... Whatever, I dig it, and I think you're on to something good for sure.

Really enjoyed all 3 tracks on your MySpace page. Hell yeah, when you have some demos, send some of those out electronically. Its nice to hear unknown artists putting out some damn good instrumentals like this.

Thanks, LabRat! About the downloading part, we will have roughly 11 or 12 songs ready for a demo pretty shortly. When that's done I would have no problem sending you one if you'd like. You, or anyone for that matter, can PM me with your address that I could send it out to.

You know, as a new member of this website, I often try to join forums where I can chill, find new bands, and best of all, listen to great music.
But your band is an exception.
You guys are better than great. It's not often I hear a song, let alone an instrumental, that I want to play over, and over, and over again. You guys have produced some of the best music I have ever hear (not kidding). Please, keep up the good work, and be sure to keep us all up to date on your wonderful progress.
Shoot, I'm glad I joined this site just to listen to you. As an inspiring musician, its a wonderful feeling to here the same kinds of music I'm interested in.
Thanks guys. Keep up the better than good work. Keep me up to date through my PM!

Wow Es, thank you very very much. At first it sounded like you were gonna insult us! I'm still not %100 sure if it's not sarcastic! But, thank you just the same. If you have a myspace account, by all means send us a friend request.

Wow, I really like this stuff, tight shit. I'm not exactly sure about the decision to go entirley instrumental as there are a few parts in there where I can envision vocal work, and it feels that the decree to do so may be a pigeonhole.
Quality stuff nonetheless.

Nah, I'm not being sarcastic. I'm dead serious. I really dig your music.
P.S. Probably only internet user who doesn't have MySpace.
Hey, also try promoting your band on mylocalbands.com! You could get a lot of attention there!

Well, the term 'entirely instrumental' is not necessarily the perfect adjective for us. Being that we had a full time vocalist up until relatively recently, it just seemed like that was the way to describe us now. We are certainly not against using vocals if a part would absolutely call for it. That was always the vision we had when we (the instrumentation end of the band) formed. However, when we got our singer who did nothing but sing for the band, it was kinda hard to tell him 'alright, now we want you to be quiet and just stand there while we jam for 6 minutes, and the we want you to say 1 line at this point. and then be quiet again.' But now we have the freedom to add vocals only where we deem they are needed. ya know?

Hey guys, we uploaded a new song to the myspace for those of you interested. We also reuploaded a better mix of 'nothing'. The last one was really weak in our opinion, so we kicked it up a notch. Bam. Take a listen.
And thanks again for the comments!

Hey Lab. That song "maranello" should still be there. It was bumped down to the last position now in lieu of the newer material.

Ah, you meant 'malachite'.. i had a brainfart for a second there and forgot we had that originally up there. We had to take it down because, for some reason, if we upload 4 songs that are actually of a listenable quality (in our opinion), myspace starts to act up and stop playing right. So we've been forced to limit it to 3 at a time. But it'll be back eventually, seeing as we have 12 songs for the rotation.
And regarding the singer.... that's actually a sore spot for us. This band originally formed to make instrumental music, but fell victim to the idea that a project with a singer is more approachable and easier to grasp for other people. We had 2 singers over the years that we were great friends with, but we not quite filling a void but rather creating one in our creative spirits. So we had to go with our hearts and drop the vocals all together. (except, as i had mentioned before, only when a song/part absolutely calls for it..)

You guys keep getting better and better as the songs come along. You guys gotta send me your demo when you guys are through.
Love the new song! Probably the best one yet.
By the way, just out of curiosity, are you guys doing all of this yourselves, or you do you have a local record company assisting with the project? I'm a little unclear about how you guys produce such good music.

Thanks Es, we seriously appreciate the your feedback. It means a lot to us that you dig our tunes so much.
Regarding the recording process - We are lucky enough to have a studio rehearsal space that is equipped with a computer running protools. We have to supply the mics and the know-how, but we have the means to make pretty decent do-it-yourself recordings. It's basically a trial and error kinda thing, so we are learning as we go along.
Thanks again, bro!

For those of you (if any) in the Central NJ area, we will be playing the Brighton Bar in Long Branch next wednesday evening. We are the headliners so we'll be going on last, but come early and enjoy the openers. It should be a good show and it'd be awesome if we could have even one person from the forum make it.

Shoot, you should record the concert on both video and audio, and make it available on myspace as a live music download and video viewing. If your good live, and if you have enough fans, then you guys could take off. Best of luck Wednesday.

That's actually a really good idea. I don't know about the video, but we'll definitely be looking into recording the audio. Thanks guys.

So what have you decided to do "recording" wise Wednesday? Are you doing the audio bit?

well, we are considering asking the sound guy at the club for a recording, as i'm pretty sure they've done that for other bands their before. If that doesn't work out, we'll most likely end up using the little rig consisting of a mic plugged into an MP3 player. Pretty much the same set up we use for laying down our rough ideas when writing. Either way, expect something.
Thanks again for being a big Dilation supporter on here, Es. There is definitely a demo with your name on it as soon as one can be ready.

Just a reminder for any of you unemployed insomniac tool forum people living in Central NJ... We are playing at the Brighton Bar in Long Branch NJ tonight. We are headlining, so expect to see us at around 11:30 - 12 .... hence the "unemployed insomniac" part.

This really is quality stuff; very original, thoughtful, and inspiring.
And I definately feel you on the vocal dilemma. A vocalist can make or break the sound of a group. Great job on keeping it interesting while maintaining that flow. I'd definately like to hear more!
