It's close between CCs metal solo and doughboy's solo. Both were pretty good. The mexican bullshit just blew. I'll decide my vote later.

EDIT: Pill seemed more comfortable with his theory, but CC seemed more comfortable with his fingers. I don't know.

Technical skill aside, I think Pills' entry was the only one I enjoyed as a song (at least the first half of it). While CC's metal shreddery was impressive, I find that sort of thing pretty unlistenable, and therefore utterly useless in the scope of tasteful music.

Well, what comes to theory, I cant read notes nor do I know any theory. I know only two scales, the other one is a minor scale , the half of the other one I have made up. So, everything I have learned is kinda self taught. I had a couple of guitar teachers in the past, but they only taught me the very basics of guitar.

CC was fast, I have to admit. The Metal solo was how metal solo should be. IMO though, that track is going nowhere, it is just pure wanking. It would be cool to actually have a clear track of that solo. One could actually hear everything subtle going on in that solo.

I have to admit that I cant compete with Cyanide with that kind of a metal solo nor do I feel the need to learn to play that kind of stuff. I have to give CC props for a fast track anyway.

Seeing as both entries sucked as a song, I find it hard to vote for Pills. Also, I find it odd that everyone is saying that Cyanide was the one who was wanking.

Pill, why did you decide to ruin your song with that distortion crap in the last minute? And learn some more scales. The local punk bands where I live consider a solo hitting two or three notes over and over again really fast and it sounds like crap. But the first part was really good.

CC's solo was real impressive, yet .. Dough's had a cool riff and is more easy to listen to (first half).

The Bladder Infection-part is there just because I promised mstajduh to include a riff inspired by blend´s bladder infection. It sounds like one, doesnt it. And that wanking in the end is there just because I heard CC´s track and wanted to wank a bit. I am actually wanking my guitar neck after that "awesome fast solo" and in the very end I throw my guitar on the floor.


But dont be distracted by the second, joke, half of the track.

This is a shred contest. It always was. It has absolutely nothing to do with how well it flowed together as a 'song', because my orders were NOT to write a song. Judge our music by it's technique and style, but not by its flow. There is NO song in my solo. If you want pills and I to write songs, we will do that.

Oh yeah, and quit bringing up your personal opinions of us: if Pills and I were in a popularity contest, of course he'd win- I'm a fucking jerk. But that's not what you're judging us on right now.

And I like my mexican solo more than my metal solo, thank you very much.

Did you mean the part with the distortion? Which is unlistenable? For the 2945th time, the second half of the track is a joke. It has this bladder infection-riff and that "awesome wanking solo" which is just there to show my skills on the field where CC is expert. I cant do that shit, and I wanted just to have little fun. I show my real skills in that first part with low distortion.

I heard Cyanide's tracks before it went down.. The metal solo was pretty good.. Definitely some fast playing in there, but it seemed real muddy and all the notes seemed to blend together.. Making it sound much less impressive.. I'll have to give it a second listen though..

The Mexican solo thing was pretty crappy imo.. Nothing personal..

Now I just need to checkout the Doughboy's stuff..

almost 10 years pill? I'd expect a little more, not just technique but just overall playing. Your licks we're pretty bad for one. The chords you used were pretty interesting and some of the things in between..but some of the licks you play sounded like you just slammed your fingers down and started moving them around. Oh and btw..even if that distorted part is a joke..it wasn't funny..

Cyanide's solo showed a lot more talent and promise, he actually sounded like he knew wtf he was doing!! *gasp* and showed that he probably has a lot more talent outside of what he recorded (I only heard the metal solo btw) and his technique is clean and precise.

I've been playing for about as long as Cyanide (give or take?) and I also have taken very little in terms of lessons. I'm primarily self-taught as well so for what you said about how you learned and how long you've been playing..well..I expected a lot more out of you..and not even "wanking" but a little more of a melody perhaps?

The thing is, I had to learn everything else BEFORE i learned that kind of speed. I had to learn the technique before I could turn the speed dial up on them. So when people say that I may be fast but I have no talent...well that just doesn't make any sense at all.

And I apologize for my shitty recording but I have no money; I spent everything on my gibson, and the only recording implement I have is a small mic that extends from my computer.

Yeah I know what you mean..and I could tell it was recorded with a mic lol I had to do the same thing..well..i have a GNX4 but the quality always turns out like shit for some reason no matter what I do..haven't quite figured it out yet..I hate machines
