Heated altercations we've never had
Imagined interplay
Misleading me over and over
Disembodied voices...
Deepen my suspicious tendencies
Judge, condemn and banish
Any and everyone, without evidence

"Don't you dare point that at me"

Judge, condemn and banish
Only the whispers from within
Disembodied voices...Heated altercations...
...Conversations we've never had...
...So I'm told
Yet guided by them all
Every single one
Heated altercations we've never had
Imagined interplay
Misleading me over and over
Disembodied voices...
Deepen my suspicious tendencies
Judge, condemn and banish
Any and everyone, without evidence

Bro, we ALL already have the lyrics. Sit down with your nonsense. If you have something of value then please share.

In case it isn't clear, those lyrics are re-arranged to fit the whole 'Descending/Ascending' theory. Although it was sorta rhetorical / optional, there is a question in the title of this thread.
Ever since hearing this song I've thought about it. I could share a whole lot...whether it'd be valuable really depends on how it's perceived though. Have you ever been guided or mislead by your own Inner_Dialogue? And, more importantly, would you be afraid of sharing it?
This made me think that people seem to be misguided, need someone strong to guide them, words guide into shadows, martyrs are prepared to lead the way throughout Opiate, Ænima, 10k and now FI has inner voices. No mention of leadership/guidance on Lateralus and Undertow though.

This may be true in a literal sense, but there are examples of "guidance" on those records, both in the sense of betrayal and authentic wisdom:
"Get up and free yourself from yourself.
Locked up inside you,
like the calm beneath castles,
is a cavern of treasures that
noone has been to.
Let's go digging.
Bring it out to take you back in.
You won't do what you'd like to do.
Lay back and let me show you another way."
-
"Give away the stone.
Let the oceans take and transmutate this cold and fated anchor.
Give away the stone.
Let the waters kiss and transmutate these leaden grudges into gold.
Let go."
-
"So crucify the ego, before it's far too late
To leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical,
And you will come to find that we are all one mind
Capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable."
But this is a difference that is likely worth mentioning. It does set Undertow and Lateralus apart in an interesting way.

No theory is perfect I guess. I just mean leadership and guidance in the strictest sense of the word. Outside of that, Third Eye could be the first song on Lateralus. Faaip de Oiad, Lost Keys, and Rosetta Stoned aren't part of the Tool discography.

Lateralus is a guide to many I'm sure, and unmistakably good
I see what you mean throughout the rest of the albums
There is no shortage of people willing to lead today
The real struggle is distinguishing authentic wisdom from treachery or folly
Like the song 'H' from Ænima
The struggle is real in Faaip de Oiad, Lost Keys and Rosetta Stoned
Unresolved and paradoxical
Fear Inoculum offers much to see through the veil and ground yourself
No conclusion though - the battle continues
Both sides remain in balance
Alarmed but lethargic
Physically old but young at heart/in spirit
Haunted yet alone
The calm before the storm
Control your delusions, inhale the clarity
