My contributions have been absent from t.d.n records for quite a while, as I've been studying my arse off and haven't had time to come up with anything. The song I've uploaded is one of only a few things I've come up with all year which I'm happy with. I sent it to a few of my friends, and they've generally agreed that it's pretty choice - not to say that it actually is.
I mixed up the drum loops in CoolEdit, and the rest I did with my guitar, bass, and keyboard, with my girlfriend is playing violin at the end. I've since started playing around with different channel settings (especially since getting my juicy new soundcard), but haven't really put any of it into action with this track.
I've called it unfinito, as it probably won't be finished anytime soon.
Any suggestions, feedback or comments (musically or technically) will be most heartily appreciated.

A new track from me: Unfinito.

The drums work quite well for the song, even if they are just looped.
I like it. Good Job, cool song.

so you u use cool edit...i better learn how to use that.
did you plug your guitar/bass directly into the computer?
you have a good voice as well.
the entire song sounds relaxing; sounds like a voice that would sing
in a perfect circle. did you take chorus or choir in highschool? or did you learn
on your own; im trying to work on my vocals.
im going to burn this to a CD and listen to it on my way to school if you dont mind hah.
the violin part just kicked in; you have everything right with this song.
have you ever tried to double your voice? i've done it on acid techno.
just record yourself singing the same notes over the chorus parts to make it sound
more important. make it sound like there's an army behind you, during the chorus parts
add a second (3rd if needed) vocal part, with higher or lower vocals to bring out the chorus, or the verses.
you can do alot with your voice, you got skills.

Yep, I used cool edit for this song. I've since got into a bit of fruity loops for looping drums and ambient sound effects and it's also a good program. I've seen the interface for pro-tools and cooledit is fairly similar, though I've never used pro-tools, so I don't know how they compare other than that. Cool edit's good for recording multitrack music (overdubbing is pretty easy), though I don't know if it's the best.
I've never really sung in public or in a choir or anything, I guess I've just picked a few things up from singing along with my favourite tunes. I've tried overdubbing (doubling) my voice with a few of the newer songs I've done, and got decent results, but in terms of recording I'm still pretty new at it. I don't know any of the tricks of the trade.
Thanks for your comments anyway, I appreciate it, and feel free to burn this to CD. I don't have any commercial aspirations at the moment, so go nuts.

Elgyn, that was awesome. I really enjoyed it, thanks for sharing.
I can't quite put a finger on what it reminds me of but I'm definatley picking up and eighties vibe, with the vocals and the drums.

i quite liked it
reminded me at times of pink floyd, dredg, something very 80's, and of eastern style music
a little rough at times, not so much the music itself but more the arrangement, that's about my only complaint, i think
very nice and melodic, though
i was quite imppressed

Well, thanks for listening man. I'd like to tidy it up a bit more, but it was such a mammoth effort recording it and working out the loops for the drums that I haven't bothered to change it around.
It's good to hear you guys liked this song. I was pretty apprehensive about posting it because it's always hard putting myself on the line. Nice to get a bit of positive feedback.
The lyrics are as follows:
A deceitful demon
Appearing in moments of
Vulnerability
Terrorizing me, tempting me
Terrorizing me, tempting me
Do you believe the lies,
Ever knowing them untrue
How low will you go,
Hunting down perfection?
You spend so many moments,
Caught in its deceptive wake
Did you never stop to wonder,
If perfection wasn’t just a dream?
Wasn’t just a dream...
All I ever wanted was to be,
One of those who knew,
All there was to know,
All there was to see...
All there was to know…
All there was to know…
Appreciate the feedback!

by the way i would like to know if there are any websites that allow you to post files as big as songs on them for free. each and every free website i've found has its limits.

Wow this is really amazing, great voice, and amazing riffs, it's hard to believe you did this all on soundpro and all. Sounds great, I wish I had this level of talent, great work!

Your voice reminds me of Gavin Hayes' at times. Actually the whole song could sound like a mellow (an even mellower) Dredg song. I like it a lot. The bass riff is cool.

Ok, so sorry about the delay with replying to this. I actually borrowed the pedal off my friend at the time, and I've only got it back off him recently. It's a Multi effects board: delay, chorus, pitch shifter, distortion etc.. It's a Yamaha GW10. I had to stuff around to get the effect I wanted with it, but eventually I found it and thankfully I wrote it down.
Anyway, the effects I used are a very light distortion, light chorus, and a slight delay. I used about mid-tone on my guitar, as well as mid-tone on my amp. I recorded it into the computer and left it as is. Unfortunately there isn't a filter I've used to get this, it was recorded live. The effects board I use really isn't anything special.
The intro was recorded on a crappy keyboard, as were all the other keyboard sounds. They were recorded into the mic through the onboard speaker on the keyboard, and again, it's a really bad keyboard.
Hope that helps some.

So now that I have net connection that allows me dl power I went a checked this one out...
Awesome work... I'm impressed...
Deja vu that my old housemate and myself were talking about creating a band that created a Pink Floyd feel to it... Has been done I know, but I'm talking the very similar sound that your recording produced...
Very nice sound though... Honestly, all props...
