It actually goes alot deeper than talking about an enima.
The reason it is AEnima, with the A and E attached is to signify that they are both capital letter. AEnima is two words.
Anima, and Enima. Anima is a term used by Carl G Jung who apparently Maynard has studied at length (and possibly other Tool members,as well). It refers to the female side of the psyche (male=animus). I personally believe that it is meant to stand for a sort of cleansing of the psyche.
And that enima was used to signify "cleaning out all the shit"
Also, I have heard that it is pronounced with an "AWW" as if you were at the dentist.

i pronounce it enima myself..... always have becuase I had no idea how to pronounce it and thats what they used to pronounce it like on my radio station.... when they try to say it with the a they are like "ummm..... that was ahhh eenima" or "that was I nimma"
