So, as one, Survive another day in season
Silent Legions, save your PREACHIN
Silent legions, stay out of my way

Here from the king's mountain view,
Here from the wild dream come true,
Feast like a sultan I do,
On treasures and flesh never few.
But I, I would wish it all away,
If I thought I'd lose you just one day.
The Devil and his had me down,
In love with the dark side I’d found,
Dabbling all the way down,
Up to my neck soon to drown.
But you changed that all for me,
Lifted me up, turned me ‘round,
So I...
I…
I…
I…
I would,
I would,
I would wish this all away.
Prayed like a martyr, dusk to dawn,
Begged like a hooker all night long,
Tempted the Devil with my song,
And got what I wanted all along.
But I…
I would if I could,
I would wish it away,
Wish it away,
Wish it all away,
Wanna wish it all away.
No prize that could hold sway,
Or justify my kneeling away my Saturn…
So if I could I’d wish it all away,
If I thought tomorrow would take you away,
You’re my peace of mind, my all, my Saturn,
Just trying to hold on one more day.
Damn my eyes!
Damn my eyes!
Dim my eyes if they should compromise a full-grown wanton need, divine need, then I might as well be gone.
Shine on forever,
Shine on benevolent Sun,
Shine down upon the broken,
Shine until the two become one.
Shine on forever,
Shine on benevolent Sun,
Shine down upon the sinners,
Shine until the two become one.
Divided and withering away,
Divided and withering away,
Shine down upon the many,
Light our way benevolent Sun.
Breathe in union,
Breathe in union,
Breathe in union,
Breathe in union,
Breathe in union.
So as one, survive another day in season,
Silence leech and save your poison,
Silence leech and stay out of my way.
-----
Those are my interpretation, my girlfriend agrees.
It's another song about anal sex :D.
My girlfriend heard the bit about 'divine need', I agree with her after listening a few more times.

It's not Jam-byeeee, it's damn my eyes.
Why would he say Jambi right there? Makes no sense considering the context of the song.

i have listened to this one particular part so many ways and so many times, that i'm starting to form blisters in my ears.
damn my eyes (without a doubt)
jambi eyes (definite intonation change between "jambi" ((pronounced "JAM-BUY")) and "eyes" ((which definitely ends with the "s" sound)) )
damn my eyes if they should compromise........
can we call that official? at least on that particularly beautiful ten seconds? i mean, they are not official until maynard releases them, but between us?

Shout to the devil with my song

But I

If I could
I would
Wish it away
Wish it away
Wish it all away
Wanna wish it all away
No [pressure could / pleasure could] hold sway
Or justify my
Kneeling away, [my sinner / my center]
So if I could I'd wish it all away
If I thought tomorrow, [would / they'd] take you away
[3:13]
I'm positive he just says "damn my eyes" throughout the rest, and I'm sure that it should be "or justify my" not "just a fine line." Also, it makes a lot more sense that this would titled for Jambi from pee wee's play house since it is about wishing. My thinking is that this is about his mother and his willingness to trade away everything he has to have her back.

Um no, because it's not "Jambi eyes", "Jambi, eye", "Jambiiiii" or anything of the sort, it's "damn my eyes".
"Damn my eyes,
Damn my eyes,
Dim my eyes if they..."
It makes no sense to say "Damn my eyes, Jambi eyes, dim my eyes if they should compromise a full-grown wanton need, divine need, then I might as well be gone." because what exactly are Jambi eyes and why should he be damning them?
The "dim my eyes" bit 'could' be "damn my eyes" again but it sounds like dim to me and that works better literally.
Maynard sounds like he pronounces the ds in this song from the roof of his mouth, giving them that 'j' sound.
If I'm wrong, I'll be surprised, but happy to eat my words :D.

of the word you could possibly conjure up. if any one can tell me otherwise how it would fit in with the context of the song in ANY way.... i will eat his words and my own.
MANDY
also, i thought initially that it was prey in union also. still it might be but i am leaning more towards breath now.

I've listened to it over and over and over and I'm sorry, I can't hear "breathe"...it seems totally obvious to me that he is saying "Pray". I'm trying to hear "Breathe", but it's just not working. :) I'll give it a rest and try again later. I am 99% positive that the last time he says it, it IS "Pray" at least.

Re: lyrics - official thread
I've listened to it over and over and over and I'm sorry, I can't hear "breathe"...it seems totally obvious to me that he is saying "Pray". I'm trying to hear "Breathe", but it's just not working. :) I'll give it a rest and try again later. I am 99% positive that the last time he says it, it IS "Pray" at least.

I'm fairly certain these lines at 6:17 are actually:
Divide [every] river in our way,
divide [every] river on our way,
shine down upon the many,
light our way benevolent son.
The 'every' is obscure, yet the second time one can clearly hear the 'on,' which conflicts with '-ing' of 'withering.'
Also, at 2:13, I'm hearing 'Praise like a martyr' and not 'prayed.'

try comparing the "m" sound on the second "damn my eyes" with the first "damn my eyes" that we are all sure of, as well as the third "m" sound that is either dim or damn. there is a "b" sound in the second "......eyes." there is also a "j" sound, not a "d" sound in the beginning of the second "damnmyeyes/jambieyes." i'm not telling anyone what the lyrics are, i'm now just saying what i'm hearing.

If I'm wrong, I'll be surprised, but happy to eat my words :D.

i haven't heard yet, but i'm sure it's been discussed. what is a "wanton need." and how does it make sense more than jambi eyes does when the name of the song is jambi. and with a blink of his eyes he could have his wish. just wondering.

I used hurmie lyrics as a base and changed what I thought was wrong. I think it is suppost to be hear not here, the lyrics just make more sense that way IMO. I have other changes I made in bold.
Hear from the King's mountain view,
Hear from the wild dream come true,
Feast like a sultan I do,
On treasures and flesh never few.
But I, I would wish it all away,
If I thought I'd lose you just one day.
The Devil that is had me down,
In love with the dark side I’d found,
Dabbling all the way down,
Up to my neck soon to drown.
But you changed that all for me,
Lifted me up, turned me ‘round,
So I...
I
I
I
I would,
I would,
I would wish this all away.
Prayed like a martyr, dusk to dawn,
Begged like a hooker all night long,
Tempted the Devil with my song,
And got what I wanted all along.
But I
I would if I could,
I would wish it away,
Wish it away,
Wish it all away,
Wanna wish it all away.
No prize that could hold sway,
Or justify my kneeling away my center
So if I could I’d wish it all away,
If I thought tomorrow would take you away,
You’re my peace of mind, my all, my Saturn,
Just trying to hold on one more day.
Damn my eyes!
Jambi
Dim my eye if they should compromise a full-grown want to need, divine need, then I might as well be gone.
Shine on forever,
Shine on benevolent son,(I think he is talking about himself here)
Shine down upon the broken,
Shine until the two become one.
Shine on forever,
Shine on benevolent son,
Shine down upon the sinners,
Shine until the two become one.
Divided and withering away,
Divided and withering away,
Shine down upon the many,
Light our way benevolent son.
Breathe in union,
Breathe in union,
Breathe in union,
Breathe in union,
Breathe in union.
So as one, survive another day in season,
Silence leech and save your poison,
Silence leech and stay out of my way.

"wanton need" makes much more sense now, thank you Muladhara. the "jambi eyes" is something that many are hearing, and i'm going to chalk that one up as "to each his own" until TOOL says otherwise. thanks again for the help on wanton. i also must say that it was funny to me when i saw you added the meaning of "need." solid humor.

i was totally sure that the line which is being so heavily disputed was "damn my eyes" and not either of the other two (or three, now) that are being tossed around ("dim my eyes," "jambi (eyes)," or "jam my eyes").. i'm still sure it's not the last 2, but a friend of mine who knows a lot more about judeo-christian mythos than i do told me that when moishe (moses to the goyim) was on mt sinai or wherever, receiving the ten commandments, and he asked YHVH to reveal himself he said "dim my eyes lord, so that i may witness your glory" or something to that effect.. so now i'm not so firmly against "dim my eyes"
but still, it's either "damn my eyes" or 'dim my eyes" or both, but anybody who thinks it's "jambi" or "jam my" needs to take a chisel to their ears. i'm super cereal.

I'm pretty sure it's "silence legion". Here is my case.
1. it's what i'm hearing
2. it's what i heard at coachella
3. (here i go again) I definatly see a lot of biblical reference through out this album. Jambi is no excepton. At the begining (and this is agreed upon by all) maynard sings "the devil and his had me down". Now, as all your biblical scholars know there was a man in the gospels who was also posessed by the devil (mark 5, luke and matthew 8). When asked it's name the demon posessing said "My name is Legion; for we are many" (mark 5:9). The demon is then cast out of the man by the SON of god/the light of the world (SUN). The man is again himself as he is no longer possesed (he is one and not many).
Now, if the ending lyric is "silence legion" that makes this entire song and allusion to this particular passage in the gospels. That does not mean maynard is talking about Jesus, christianity, or anything of that sort in particular. It does mean that the song becomes even fuller in meaning becauxe maynard is utilizing another story (that in the gospels) to illisturate what is going on in the song. It is a wonderfull use of literary device and makes absolute sense.
there could be more explanation but i think this should suffice.
let this be reflected in the lyric section!
So it is written...so let it be done!

It's starting to make sense, and pray in union could be about praying for "exorcise" the demon, I mean, not in a literally way. You guys know how Maynard do these metaphors.
But i don't hear "legion", and don't know how "silence legion and something" fits

i think it is very possible that maynard was doing several things at once when he was inspired by this song. and as he usually does, he puts layers in the song lyrics....i have a feeling he might have been watching peewee's playhouse while reading an article on the country... He saw some sort of cosmic conection to the two happening at the same time....and realized while his son was lying on his chest,as they "breathe in union"....thathis son is a constant help in dealing with the loss of his mother....and if he had a genie he would wish any bad thing away.......I dont Know....call me crazy

WTF, in the live version I hear Pray, and the album sounds like breathe.
This lyrics makes me confused.
