here is a link to melt bananas myspace, i think they might be entertaining and better than kiniski:
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
We do in most cases. I've heard people tell me the venue in San An requires concerts to be done by no later than 11:00. I don't think they're doing it on purpose, they're just doing what they have to do to avoid a fine.

Or, is this an educated guess?
This may be speculative. I've noticed that the keyboard interlude that Maynard plays before Vicarious was being played before the Intension intro to Right In Two at shows that didn't have Vicarious and Ænema. If they played that Vicarious intro seg before Right In Two I'd have to imagine that Vicarious and Ænema weren't even on the setlist. Junior, little help.

If they weren't I'm sure Maynard was just filling the place with ambient sounds and using the time they had wisely. I really just can't buy in to the whole "Tool hates us, and that's why they fucked us!" routine.

Yeah, whether or not they drop a song or songs I really doubt they have any intention of "fucking" us. I really just think that a lot of the newer fans of the band had very high expectations from others that had been to other tours. They don't vary the setlist much but what they do play is extremely good and if some of these people haven't been to a Tool show they may not be able to comprehend the high quality of the material that's being played.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Quite puzzled myself --things started to roll out differently in Oklahoma City --this is either a pivoting point in the lay out of the show --or just a chain of events close together that have no bearing on the rest of the tour ---they were off stage in OKC at like 10:35 and started at 8:35 --still a 2 hour show ---SA and CC were solid 2 hour shows too --however they had the 20 minute jam sessions with a special guest! ---one would think think they're not done playing Vicarious or Aenima completely --and i dont think that it has anything to do with Danny's arm ---20 minute drum wars are just as intense as the standard parts to the last 2 songs -------WHO THE FUCK KNOWS! --all I can hope for is that they play a solid show tommorrow night in Baton Rouge and its not a shit stain on the map for them to play!!!!!!!!!

I have seen Tool a total of 10 times since 1996 and they have never played longer then 2 hours.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
I really don't think a curfew has anything to do with it. I think they want to open up some time to extend some songs and give themselves room to change things up. I, for one, am happy about it. If I wanted to hear songs exactly as they were on the record, I'd just listen to the record. Like the previous poster said, I've been to several shows and they've never gone over two hours. Two hours of live Tool for $50 is worth every penny, regardless of which songs they do, or don't, play. I'm not gonna sell my tickets cuz they've dropped Aenima. And to those who are pissed cuz thy're not hearing shit from Opiate or Undertow... I guess you were just born too late. It must suck being you..

Starting about 4 days before the show, check the TM site a few times a day and without a doubt you will score some primo seats. They will be willcall only, but that shouldn't matter.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Well it looks like the good folks in Baton Rouge got pushit last night. Good for them! A little advice for all you going to the Fla show tonight....don't go in expecting to hear it again tonight. And don't be disappointed if you don't. Enjoy yourselves!

I paid forty-five for the grey longsleeve, and now they sell it in hottopic for like 25. I'd still rather the money go right to the band than that shit store. Does anyone have a picture of the new tour shirts?

I have seen that shirt at Hot Topic. Does the one you get at the show have the dates or are all of the shirts the same thing you can buy somewhere else.
I got the Thinkman shirt on the Lateralus tour and then they started selling it at Hot Topic but mine had the dates on the back.

I heard they will only be opening until June 23rd.... or somewhere around that date. I know they aren't supposed to open for the Cincy show I will be attending... but I am not sure who will be.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Its amazing that Tool is playing in Huntington West Virginia and the tickets have been on sale since 5-12-07 and they still have floor seats on Ticketmaster. Cincinnati's floor tickets were sold out like 5 minutes after they went on sale the same day.
The arena in Huntington is very small and it should sell out quick but for some reason nobody wants to travel to Huntington to see them. It's small but its not a bad venue. Basically it has a floor section and one level of assigned seating on the sides and back.... not two or three.... one. You don't have to worry about not being close in this venue.
The last time they played in that arena in 2002, it was no where near sold out. Its really amazing to me.

That's TicketBastard for you. I wish I'd known I could upgrade my seats when I found the S116 ones. I gave the old one to a friend as a two-year (maybe I'll make it three) birthday present.

The longsleeve has no dates, as for the thinkman i got that at the concert too, with dates and they started selling that at the hot topic too.

Does anyone know if they've done the really cool synth-y intro for Vicarious at all this tour? I downloaded a bootleg from a show in Sydney (not BDO) where Vicarious had like a beautiful two minute intro for it and it was amazing...does anyone know if they've done it at all on this current US tour?

Yes, they are still doing that.
Sometimes it gets played earlier in the set (after Rosetta Stoned), usually if they are not going to do Vicarious that night.
