That video is hilarious XD I love how at one point they throw a rock and you can watch his hair do this little poofy flip deal, cuz they just missed him.

Speaking of Lateralus, I find it interesting that when they performed the song in Vancouver last month, Danny didn't use (bash the fuck out of) the gong during the peak part (after the "whatever will bewilder me"). I doubt that he forgot, though it is theoritically possible. I feel that he figured that because the song perhaps wasn't quite performed to a level of epicness that would warrant that explosive crash, that he just didn't bother.
I've personally seen him drop the gong beater when making that move for the gong in Lateralus once. I suppose he could just drop it from time to time. It's a difficult maneuver he's doing there. In any case, I doubt that Danny just wouldn't "bother" with it. Thank about what you're saying. It sounds ridiculous.
FYI, the gong hit occurs at "following" in "Following Our Will and Wind..."

I can't stand Nickelback. Lets face it, they make god-awful music. But holy fuck, a person has to be an ignorant, self righteous SOB to throw rocks at a performer. Not cool.

Trust me, I can't either. I went because I wanted to see Seether, who I was a really big fan of at the time. Saving Abel and Nickelback pretty much sucked, but Seether was worth it to see. Supposedly (mind you, this is according to Youtube comments) they were a bunch of metal heads who didn't like Nickelback. It's still very rude.

the latest Tool tidbit up on DIME is another source of the August 5th, 2009 show. It's quite a bit of an upgrade from the first source (sound-wise) but more importantly...this is an epic show.
-Maynard in good spirits (I swear he loves Canadians)
-alternate Lost Keys
-really sinister slowed down Flood with an extended intro
overall they play the shit out of every song, even though it's a "generic" setlist they still manage to make every song very worthwhile. 10/10 show with 9/10 audio. Highly recommended.
Jambi
Stinkfist
Forty Six & 2
Schism
Lost Keys
Rosetta Stoned
Flood
Ænema
intermission
Lateralus
Vicarious

Doing it and thinking it holds some divine revelation (edit: or is the "true" track order). Not doing it for that hell of it to spice up a 5, 10, 15 year old album. But yes, agreed.

there was some different audio playing in the background. couldnt make any of the words out though
It's somewhat clear on this recording...it's basically a bunch of inconsequential jibber jabber dialog that doesn't really seem to "mean" anything, unlike the original Lost Keys dialog.

Maynard said it didn't exist and was stupid to do.
I mean, Rosetta Stoned is specifically about the fans doing this (check the words of the climax to Rosetta Stoned.
jesus Fuckin christ. I didn't give it that name or think it's the way it was MEANT to be...I heard of it and when I tried it(which it seems some of you wouldn't even DARE do...it's too "JARRING")...I liked it better.
If it pleases you, we can proclaim that the alternate track order theory will henceforth be called the "Wrong Order" theory...better?
People who play their music on 'shuffle' must annoy you people to no end...
btw: can someone link to an interview where Maynard talks about this?

Elvis, what happens to men when they die, then? "Moobs or GTFO"?
McRoggles-- agreed. I dislike playing anything on shuffle simply because it was placed in that order for a reason, but if people want to mix up their own albums, to each his own.

Shuffle is the horror of every artist/band who gave thought to the tracklisting.
I never shuffle an album, except on the ipod shuffle where I only have random tracks.
I've taken the liberty of making a separate thread for this topic. It's definitely "TLDNR" worthy... but I thought it would be appropriate if we had a place to discuss such things. So I hope those of you that were discussing it here might still have something to say there.

I don't think LA got recorded, there was metal detectors at every entrance. I would die for a copy of either night.

Hi, this is my first post here. Did Lars Ulrich from Metallica ever play with Tool? This wikipedia page below says he was part of a drum battle at the Fairfax, VA show in 2009-
But I'm not totally sure that this is correct because the link above gives the show the wrong date (July 31 instead of July 30) and says the drum battle was during "Vicarious" and AFAIK the drum battles have always been during "Lateralus".
Can anybody confirm if Lars Ulrich was a guest musician at this show or not?

Yeah, wonder why neither of the LA bootlegs have made it online yet?
What I would give to see Danny Carey destroy Lars Ulrich in a drum battle. They shouldn't even call it a battle, they should call it a clinic.

I'd love to see King Crimson with Tool, but that's not gonna happen again. Bummer.
