I wouldn't have cut it if I didn't have an extra ;)
nice
but that still leaves me wondering what to do...I don't have an extra...I'm willing to cut night one though cause it looks pretty sweet...BUT, I want mine matted with extra shit around it...thinking of mounting a pic under them and if I can find a good one, a pic of the new mandala on top...so that leaves me wondering, how to make sure theres no lifting of the top poster from the one underneath without gluing...I guess it'll be trial and error and hopefully an error doesn't cause me to fuck up a poster...
Question: How can I bump a thread that's currently inactive, is that possible?
I'm not sure if it was Maynard himself in an interview or just a fan's interpretation of Reflection, but I'm looking for an explanation of that song I read a long time ago. Any help is much appreciated.

Most people discuss what they liked and disliked about previous albums in there.
Edit: And I've got a serious question that has been on my mind for a while now. The odds are that the next tour Tool embarks upon will be in support of a new album. Which means they will likely not be touring until the start of next year. Since that tour will undoubtedly be in support of said album... a healthy chunk of the set list will likely feature new tunes. And with Stinkfist, 46&2 and for the most part Schism and Aenema being virtually permanant parts of the setlist.... also I feel we won't be missing Jambi for some time to come.... I'm beginning to fear that the odds are not in favor of Third Eye, The Patient or Intolerance reoccurring in the next set list. Which bums me out because at the very least I would have liked to have seen Third Eye.
I'm confident however that the stage setup will be similar, if not improved. And Junior is always magnificent. I'm just a little worried that it might have actually been worth it to take off work, buy the tickets for the St. Paul show and driven 5 hours to get there. Would it have been worth the massive hole in my pocket just to see this tour? that show?
unfortunately the answer might be; possibly.

the answer is undoubtedly YES. seriously, how could you have not gone? this just seems like horrible planning to me.
and your completely right, there wouldn't be much space at all on a new album setlist.
thirdeye > switched with new long psychedelic song
jambi > probly will stay
stinkfist > stay
vicarious > probly be taken out
the patient > slim chance of staying, probly not
intolerance > switched out w/ other undertow song
schism > could stay, could go
46+2 > stay
lateralus > stay
Ænema > stay
so this leaves us with 4-5 song slots. 3-4 from new album, one random song thrown in for kicks. as you said, the odds are not in favor of third eye, patient and intolerance making it to the next shows.

Eh, those forums/threads are dated.
We need a new, separate forum, methinks.
As far as the new tour and the setlist goes, this is what I expect:
Jambi
Stinkfist
New Song
Schism
New Song
Intolerance
New Song
46 & 2
Lateralus
New Song
Ænema
i say keep jambi. its a badass opener. follow with epic new song. keep stinkfist, 46&2 and schism. get rid of lateralus.. thats like 20 minutes that could be used for 1-2 different songs. add in 2-3 more new songs. maybe add one from opiate. probably keep aenema as a closer.
Um no thanks. It can do without the super-extended drum solo w/guest while Justin keeps playing *da da da da, da da da da, da da da da, da da da da*. If you ask me some of the guest drummers didn't add much to the experience of Lateralus... if anything it was distracting to have them pause for a minute, listen to the same note repeated over and over by Justin until they finally get going again. A continuity break imo. But keep the song... the ending is always spectacular!
Songs that I'm 90% will never go are Stinkfist, Jambi, 46&2, and Schism. But I could see Lateralus holding it's place for a while yet just because its such a definitive Tool song.

Lateralus has been the climactic anchor of the setlist since it's inception. That said, I'd gladly trade it out for any unplayed song as well. My pipe dream is to somehow get D/R/T back in rotation. I'd drop all the mainstays for the trifecta.
Keep in mind that there were two shows of this past tour where 46&2 wasn't played. I don't think that's happened since the Aenima days, so if one were to go, that'd be my guess.
I'd like The Pot, Intension/Right In Two, Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned to be the songs they pull from 10K, personally.

I have to say I agree with Hodge, and it seems people would enjoy a new setlist...though of course, I would think they'd keep those songs that they are "expected" to play.

Couldn't agree more. It was interesting the first few times, the Tim Alexander appearance in 2007 comes to mind. Now, hacking up Lateralus with acts like Dalek seems pedestrian and tired. It turns the whole solo into a giant mess.
Danny can handle the song just fine. Most of the guest "drum-off's" are embarrassing, and hard to watch. I get the sense Danny would rather do without most of them. Plus, I feel bad for anyone who has to try to keep up with Danny. Not an easy feat, right?
I wonder why they continue to do it when its so obvious that many just don't work out.... There must be a reason Manyard calls it "drum fuckery" or "drum silliness" or whatever. Meh...save it for genuine "special" appearances... like Josh Freese! :)
I think they do it to show their appreciation for the opening acts because from their perspective it has to be the coolest thing in the world. Even if they don't make it big they can say they've played WITH Tool, that's pretty special, imo.
I understand about Lateralus too, I always feel uplifted after hearing it. It's just that I get a spiritual experience hearing D/R/T, specifically Reflection, which ironically enough, they also used to have guests appearances for.

I was thinking along the same lines in terms of some of the older "rarer" songs like TE and Intolerance being brough back for an encore and then retired. I hope not but that was the feeling I got for some reason.
Maiden did the same thing a few years ago with a huge throwback tour where they said "say goodbye to these songs" and this last tour they came back with 90% newer material.
Not an appples for apples comparison since IM has about 7 thousand albums...

Gotta keep Lat. Probably the best rock song written in the last 10 years (obviously referring to LB's "Nookie" as well...a solid one, two combo). I still have wondrous visions of Colorado Springs World Arena opening with "Cold and Ugly", an amazing D/R/T that had the crowd (mostly) mezmorized, then the turntable, black rubber suit with flames on MJK ending with Lateralus. Didn't even have to drive home from Denver. What a night.
I could do without Schism. And I vote for the Grudge to open vs. Jambi...but to each their own.
BTW, Nice job on waking the dead on this forum, Euphoria.
i will never want them to get rid of lateralus, it is a spiritual experience for me everytime...a "moment", if you will
Agreed and exactly my point :)

I really hope they keep in the new intolerance. As I've said before I've come to really like the extension and hope to hear it live. Also who knows, Tool may even think it's time for some of the mainstays to leave. In fact they would have to drop something to fit the new album. stinkfist or 46 are out next tour.

Me too. it really gelled as a song as the tour went on, or maybe even one other nugget from Undertow.

I got it for one of my other friends that came along. If he doesn't want it, I'll bring it out for The Chemical Brothers and you can get it then.
Too bad you're not coming to Rush/Primus this weekend...

Lateralus must stay and should be put back as the closer. It still gives me goose bumps in the car, let alone live. The extended version can go imo. The Dalek duet was the only thing wrong with L.A. night 2.
...and speaking of Lateralus, how many of you prefer the 'Holy Gift' version/order? I love it and it's the only way I listen to the album now...fuck D/R/T(in that order)...yes, I said it! If all the pauses/silence between songs is taken out, the whole flows together much better...imo.
So, if anyone can make me a good quality 'Holy Gift' remix with all the silence between tracks cut out, I'd glady repay you...
It's actually two different shows in Vegas. Once Les found out the power trio was in town, he pushed his show's strating time to midnight....so he can go to the Rush show.

alternate/better track list:
6, 7, 5, 8, 4, 9, 13, 1, 12, 2, 11, 3, 10
you cant break up d/r/t!...and eon/patient........and mantra/schism.... it doesnt seem like it would flow very well.. never listened to it in that order but maybe ill give it a try
I use to mess around with that order with my vinyl copy. The double bass ending of Schism into the double bass intro of Ticks and Leeches is pretty awesome.
As matter of fact, if I remember correctly, the tracks are out of order on the vinyl. Maybe this is the reason why?
