I was gonna suggest a group camping trip in the Mojave. We bring a good sound system, lots of alcohol, lots of psychadelics and have a lot of fun. Just an idea though.
Haha, oh. Yeah that does sound like a great time. But if I'm eating mushrooms it's probably better I stay in my backyard. No that really does sound bad ass.

Last time I ate shrooms and was camping was in a dry lakebed in the Black Rock Desert NV.
No better trip than Burning Man.
I wonder if it's really just water in the wine bottle. I can't imagine being hungover after drinking an entire bottle would seem awesome night after night. Puscifer too! That, or he's an alchie now. I know I sure as hell can't sing when hungover!
I guess this'll just be the alchy in me talking, but a bottle of wine a night ain't shiat. I've met some real alcoholics before through friends in AA. A bottle of wine is "lunch" for them. And after a while it certainly is not enough to get you a hangover, or at least leave you functional. In this final days, for example, Keith Moon drank a full fifth of whiskey and at least 2 bottles of champagne EVERY DAY. Not to mention the addition of meds. Now, he is dead of course. So I am not saying that what he did was a good thing. Just that a bottle of wine each day amounts to squat for some people.
Well Tool is over, they'll never play another decent tour. I was tempted to go to this one, I even knew the stlist, but even 50 bucks I didn't feel like it. I forget to get the tickets on opening night, didn't care. Thought about getting them from thookup thread but I just don't care anymore. Would hav eloved to see Third Eye. That's all, though, the rest I've seen. 4 degrees would have been UNBELIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVABLE. But oh well, we'll nsever esee it. Tool is over!! :'( uwah

umm i'm betting 2011 of may ... going by their "5 year" album thingy ahah system as of late. so don't worry. i'm pretty postive they shall be playing shows by next summer. i could be wrong though! but just my 2 cents.

Dude, if you "don't care" why are you posting this crap? Leave. Don't look back. After all, you don't care.
Not sure if one was already discovered but if anyone finds a bootleg of the second LA show can ya pm me please? I watch some on youtube and MJK sounded amazing!

Man looking back on it, the only thing that could have made the LA shows better would have beens Wings 1&2....that would have been absolutely mind blowing. I know chances are well never see those again though. Im just glad I had the privilege to see them play Wings live 3 times :D
Has there been any new music or ideas during this tour ? Eagerly awaiting the 'new album' so was wondering during any of the shows, tool has given a sneak peek of what may come.......
and if so what did it sound like/compare to... Thanks guys
I am new here. I saw Tool at Bonnaroo and then Chicago a couple of years back. Both were awesome shows, they really pull you in. I'm 34 years old and my first experience with Tool was when I was 16 one night I saw the Prison Sex video and was totally weirded out. So much so that I became intrigued at what else they do. I had never had the opportunity to see them due to finances or other stuff until recently. I know that everyone, at least most people on here LOVE this band, so I thought this is the best place to get a few questions answered. I don't want to upset anyone first and foremost. First question is why do they have an opening act? Is it to get fans ready for them by playing subpar music? Second question is are they told what to do by Hollywood execs? Because, now don't get me wrong it's a great live show, but they force their fans to watch and more importantly listen\hear the same thing night after night (I know there are a few exceptions). I'm not a hater, I would just appreciate some clarification as to why they do this. It seems to me that they have enough material to do at least 5 or more different shows, and an infinite number of different ones if they weren't married to the same setlist\order of songs. I play guitar and obviously not good enough to be famous, but I'd be bored as hell performing the same tunes night in and night out, almost as if they view it as "just a job" like the rest of us do on a dailey basis. Please respond, because I would love to see Tool again, but can't justify the amount of money to see them. I appreciate your time it took you to read this! I eagerly await some input
1. I think the opening bands are ones that each or maybe even all of the Tool members like and they want to expose/share them to a larger audience really dont think they'd put people they thought were subpar up on stage with them.
2.I think the setlist for the most part imo is what they believe to be what everyone wants to hear and just because you see the same show why should they change it every night when they want to play what that for every city...its not the bands fault that several of us attend more than one show each tour and most of us going fully knowing nothing is goin to be changed and if something is it's quite a pleasant surprise

Tool is something you can only grasp when seeing them live!
The sound they produce is mind-blowing, and that is something that I have never felt with other bands.
Hope a new Album comes soon, need to see them again in Europe soon!

yeah those grapes up there are SOUR, don't even bother with them.
"Yeah Tool is fucking amazing. But theres a big chunk of their fan base that think theyve become thought provoking geniuses just from listening to them."

lol, just had an inadvertent chuckle. I almost didn't download a good sounding 2002 show because my brain said "nah, it's a standard setlist." We're complaining about a standard setlist, this is a flashback of what the standard setlist used to be.
Tuva
Sober
The Grudge
Stinkfist
Forty Six & 2
Schism
Parabol
Parabola
Opiate
intermission
Disposition
Reflection
Triad
Lateralus
Extremely standard 2002 setlist, but the interesting part about that tour is that they would rotate songs in and out on a daily basis. Within two weeks they also put Ænema, The Patient and Third Eye in the Opiate spot and H and 4º in the Forty Six & 2 spot.

was actually just watching some 2002 vids on youtube. Undertow followed by Eulogy. Lucky fucks. i'd kill to see that. and the grudge.
directed to you guys who listen to lots of bootlegs.
do you notice much difference in the solos? i havent listened to them enough, but it seems the songs themselves are different from show to show sometimes. how about this tour?
Thanks for your thoughts damnfool, but I disagree with your point #2. How would they know what most people want to hear? Don't they say "think for yourself, question authority"? The authority here being tool and they are telling everyone what a "good" show should be. I would think that definition is different for everybody. Wouldn't YOU like to go into a show knowing anything can happen instead of exactly what's gonna happen. Again I just want to make clear I'm not here for a fight, I'm just a little put off by the whole setlist thing. Thanks again. Keep rockin.

also i think you'll find a different opinion by almost each and every person on this site on why they do what they do with the setlist but none of us really have a clue and won't know unless they tell us.

Does anyone know what the name of the microphone/walkie talkie thing Maynard uses during the shows now is? I loved how it sounded during Third Eye and Stinkfist this year
It's either Learn To Swim or Arizona Bay. The board hasn't reached a concensus yet.
Lol

It's a (police?) megaphone, the type with a remote mic.

i'm gonna say this the nicest way i can.....dude, give your head a shake, your brain is stuck. i understand financial issues and such, but you're not talking about a shitload of cash here. if you're looking for some justification, here you go.....
one day there wont be anymore tours.....go while you still have the chance

Got a number of posters, signed and unsigned, 2009 and 2010. Might be looking to do some trading if you have something good! I am not looking to upsell, strictly trading. The only money put into this will be for shipping. I have references of others I have traded with too. PM me if your interested.

Think it's just a normal bullhorn w/mouth piece (I never understood why you'd buy a bullhorn and have it hang around your waist instead of point it at the people you're trying to reach, but hey, maybe it's a message from Maynard about practicality...) with a clip mic. The effect he was using on third eye and ticks and leeches back in the day sounds like a harmonizer +/- octaver with distortion and a heavy flange, but I have no idea if he's using a specialized effect i.e. the harmonizer and chorus sounding thing on Jambi before the breakdown. Well, that's what it sounds like to me at least.
