I can understand the lawsuit holding things back, but hearing they have "one song nearly finished" is kind of crushing.

It's bittersweet. More sweet than bitter, bitter than sweet. It's a bittersweet surrender.

Well, they do discuss other songs in the same article, so take it for what it is.

you'd think they'd be able to fill more seats if they just lowered ticket prices. i don't know why they play such large arenas if they can't even fill 'em up.

Not sure I understand this post. Don't they sell out most shows in the US? Do they play in venues that are only half full? I've never experienced this at a Tool show. Here in Oz at least even in a small town like mine the venue is at least 80% full

I'm kind of excited. I haven't listened to Tool at all in close to three years, and I miss how active this forum was close to 10k Days' release.

Because they're lying. Either they're lying or Maynard's a great actor. There's a slew of clips and interview questions with Maynard answering in an annoyed fashion concerning the slowness of the writing process. If it was due litigation, I think they would have mentioned it a long time ago.
There's no reason to hide that. Maybe they wouldn't want to go into specifics but they could certainly answer answer album release date estimate questions with: "Legal issues stalling the process. Who knows."
The fact that they're being so forthcoming "because it's about time the fans know the truth blah blah blah" screams bullshit to me.

The main complaint I actually have is that their is no Tool live album.
Just saw Phish for the 20th time this weekend and they had a live concert cast from the venue. Phish, the Grateful Dead , Pearl Jam etc, have hundreds of official awesome recorded live albums.
No show is exactly perfect, flaws make things unique.

Also, Salival doesn't count. I'm talking a full show.
Also also, Phish played for a solid 3 hours when I saw them. $30 for 21 songs, I got my monies worth!

I'd much rather have a live album from 2001, that was an incredible year for live shows. Or at least a live album from close to when 10,000 Days was released, and Nardo still did the screams, they got Rosetta Stoned, etc.

just want to point out that it is very common for individuals and groups involved in legal disputes not to discuss said legal disputes in public while they are ongoing. in fact, i believe in some cases, all parties are expressly forbidden from doing so.
not that weird. asymptotic is an idiot as usual.
edit: i don't care if there's a new album or a live album. this band is dead to me.

Remember when I said, "Maybe they wouldn't want to go into specifics but they could certainly answer answer album release date estimate questions with: "Legal issues stalling the process. Who knows"?
Merely mentioning the existence of a legal case is fine. Discussing the details of the case are what may or may not be troublesome. BUT WAIT! SUDDENLY IT'S OK FOR ADAM TO TALK ABOUT IT! Whatever.
Go fuck yourself as usual.
