It sounds kind of like a shovel digging to me... 3 times before and 3 times during the line,"a passionate spirit." I'm probably wrong about it being a shovel, but I'm sure that it's significant to the meaning of the song.

What is that noise at 2:16-2:20, then 2:26-31?

theres a bunch of shit going on in this song. the very faint "bedspring" sounds starting at about 6:02 right after the huge kick drum remind me of the former toolband.com splash page noise.
lustmord did the thunderstorm so God knows how many different sounds are to be found.
