An exercise in describing an emotion

Blue

Despair is aqua.
It’s an emotion that glows like crushed sapphires.
It brings the sounds of gloomy gulls a beachside funeral.
It has the aftertaste of fresh salt and vomit,
Bitter and acidic.
Despair brings with it the aroma of a lonely ocean
biding its time, coffins bobbing on the flat plane.
Despair is a pair of blue eyes in a mirror, silently informing you
of your every mistake.
Despair brings the chilling breeze of a coastal wind,
with the smell of death riding its coattails.

Re: An exercise in describing an emotion

Thanks, i had never thought to actually describe an emotion (other than love/lust, whatever) until i had to do this for a class. i think it turned out quite nicely, not being arrogant, just my opinion.

Good use of strong, forceful words. Fits well with the theme.
