I'm seeing them on both dates. I trust they'll vary the setlist across both dates, as they did at Hammersmith last year.

Re: 2007/08/21 and 22 - London, UK - Brixton Academy

I assume they'll mix things up a little for each show. I cannot wait, because I missed out on Hammersmith last time. This and the show at Manchester Apollo are going to be a little bit special.

Do you think? I always find the sound at Brixton terrible - unless on the barrier, right at the back, or upstairs. OR right at the sides. Elsewhere, the sound kinda just gets lost.

the best view and sound for me at brixton is standing right at the back as you have the slope downstairs in standing , never had bad sound for me anyway, ive seen the likes of sepultura, maiden, tool , ozzy , all great concerts.

I was going on the 22nd with my mate (happens to be Louis_116206 if anyone knows him), got permission off my mum and checked but the tickets were sold out :(
hoping someone is selling on the t.d.n hookup or pay extra on ebay (its worth it)

the sad thing is, my mate has his ticket so :( some more

I may or may not have a spare ticket for the 22nd, because my friend who was coming with me might be going to something else instead. I'll get back to you if its definitely going spare.

Same as exarch here, found out there were going to London and considering there are the cheapest flights from Warsaw, I defintely wanted to go, but all sold out. Bummer, will see what I can do, will definitely not miss couple of the festivals, but seeing them alone is just different. Hope to see some of you in London.

These two shows will be among the best performances of Tool in 2007, I predict.

Agreed, both previous Brixton shows (2001 and 2002) were excellent performances and the 2002 shows had really varied setlists. Maybe this is where they'll FINALLY debut the full-length version of "Intension"...nah, probably not.

Opening a set one night with full Intension > Right in Two? That would be pretty cool.

u think they'll have a special guest on one of the nights? someone better than that wankster from motorhead last time i saw them would be IDEAL.

^ yeah, I created that avatar to be perfectly representative of any beat, try changing your music and refreshing the page, it works!

Also, on topic...it's Justin's home show so as far as guests, maybe they'll bring out one (some?) of his friends?

I'm really getting a vibe that these two shows are gonna be classics, I wish I could make it to them :(

So pumped for this show. I hope they play Flood/RIT/Pushit, any guests or an extended lateralus would be sweet also. Russian circles sound good from what ive heard. So is the general consensus standing at the back is the way to go for sound/viewing etc?

I've got my ticket for my first Tool gig - Manchester. I really want to hear songs like opiate, aenema, sober the patient but it seems they aren't playing them this tour. Is there a chance they'll play some of these songs on the second night of London.
If so i would go to that show too. I just don't know if they will or not, maybe somebody with better Tool knowledge could tell me. I would be more than happy with just Manchester as long as i dont find out later they played some of those songs.

You can also get standing tickets for the London show.

Manchester Apollo has a cap of 3300 people and looks really great.

I wouldn't hedge any bets on them mixing up the setlist too much as its been pretty rigid this tour, but you might always get lucky.

I'm going to both london shows, and although i would ideally like them to vary the setlist for the 22nd i'm not exactly gonna complain if i see the same show twice - i mean it IS tool.

I think you can be in right to expect Wings, maybe an oldie like Opiate, and it would be the best if they pulled out a rare one from Ænima such as H. !

Doubt we will get anything different. I reckon exactly the same set list both nights with one sond, max two changed. Shame really coz it'll end up being almost exactly the same songs they played during the warm up tour and the Wembley show....god it must be so boring for them each night

I'll be interested to hear some reviews for these shows. Maynard is only at half his normal ability right now at best. I am wondering if it's something that will actually get better if he continues to do this tour.

Getting seriously excited bout this gig now... lets hope maynard's made a full recovery.

Also, sounds like they're being a bit bitchy not letting people bring bags

Re: 2007/08/21 and 22 - London, UK - Brixton Academy

really, the whole bag thing is quite pathetic. I'm not sure about the London gigs but for the Manchester gig we are being told we can't bring a bag AT ALL - it's not even 'if you bring a bag you will have to put it in the cloakroom' which I could just about deal with but goddamnit, NO BAGS??

I am a girl, I am coming from Newcastle to Manchester, I am not going to leave stuff in my car, and ffs, it's not even a big bag. I am seriously unimpressed about it. I can't even talk to a human being about it as the phoneline for Manchester Apollo is entirely automated. GRR!!

The same thing has been said about London. Does anyone else think that maybe they're just sounding strick on the email to dissuade people, but that they'll actually let you put your bags in the cloakroom this evening? Would they really turn people with bags away at the door and not let them in at all?!

I have a bag with me today, and it's going to be quite a pain to arrange to leave it somewhere.

Better to have low expectations and be pleasantly surprised, rather than the other way around.

I'll let myself goes as far as hoping they play Pushit, but I think even that's pretty unlikely.

yeah I got an email about London and it had the cloakrooms part on there already, but the Manchester one doesn't. grr. again.

I am really hoping for Pushit, probably not going to happen but hey I can hope. I'm sure it'll be kickass whatever they play.

yep i think pushit would make me very happy. Although RIT or Flood would be almost as good.I cant wait, only a few hours to go everyone!!
OH and btw: the review from the last show stated that maynards voice is fine...so lets hope it stays that way.

Re: 2007/08/21 and 22 - London, UK - Brixton Academy

I'm going to London tonight and tomorrow, and Manchester on Thurs.

Given their short and unsuprising setlists at the recent European tourdates (albeit festival dates), I'll be happy with the standard 90 min 10K tour setlist tonight, with some changes to that for tomorrow, and then back to the standard setlist on Thurs.

I think that's the best we can hope for, although of course I'd love to hear pushit, Hooker, 3rd eye etc.

And to comment about the bag situation, I never take bags to gigs, and I'm always annoyed at having to wait in line while people muck around with their bags, coats and phones etc.

So sorry ladies, but I'm happy for a strict nothing but the basics dress code !

Re: 2007/08/21 and 22 - London, UK - Brixton Academy

it's alright it you're someone who has huge pockets in everything they wear but if you don't (and I include some blokes in this too) where are you meant to put your wallet, carkeys, phone etc? we're not talking about hairbrushes and make-up here - well I'm not at least as I wouldn't be arsed about not having any of them in my bag, but for essentials like that? I'm not leaving them in my car thanks very much!!

we're coming from another city and would quite like to have a decent long day in Manchester, have something to eat etc, and stuff like this is necessary but right now it looks like we're literally going to have drive there, see the show and drive home again.

if I was a girly girl who took a fucking suitcase full of make-up everywhere I could understand why it was a decent rule but srsly, we're talking basic security here.

anyway, I really must stop ranting on about this!!
