I know bro, I mean once Im at the bus/train station, in DC..., also is that one of the relatively safe areas to walk around? where the hell is this place?
Edit- I just might be taking the shuttle flight from LGA, if they are cheap...
If the shuttle flies into DCA, a cab will cost around $25. Or you could take the metro, switch over at Le Font Plaza and get on the RED line and go to Metro Center. That would cost a couple dollars. If you fly into IAD, I'd take a cab. There is no easy public transportation from there. The cab ride will cost about $45-50. It'll be about an hour drive. You could always take a cab to an outlying Orange line station and take that to Metro Center. Not sure how much that would cost.

Yeah, a cab would be the easiest from IAD, but there is a metro bus that goes from the airport into the city. I've taken it a couple of times. It may take a little longer than a cab because there's a couple of stops in between, but it'll be a hell of a lot cheaper. I think it's around 3 dollars or less.
Alrighty, the only ones left are in the 400s and up in the gods. Is this even worth going to from that distance? Ive never seen tool before so I am dying to do so, which also means that i dont have a previous experience to compare to. Im also looking on ebay, but dont know if i want to give business to a scalping son of a bitch.
If this was the lateralus tour i would say yes because of the amazing light show and everything that goes with that. It's interesting having a high vantage point during some of their shows. I'm not to sure how this tour has been in the lighting dept. but i would still go if i was you. Verizon is pretty vertical so i don't think the seat will be terrible. Plus the ticket is only 30 up there right? Def worth it

Do it! As waX said, Verizon center seating is vertical so you should still be able to see. And if you can't see, just close your eyes and enjoy the splendor of Danny Carey on drums. Even from up high, you will feel that pounding in your chest.

I got some tickets in the 410 section.
I also am going to enter the contest for "Your Boss is the Biggest Tool" from a local radio station.
I was also "late" (enough with the "I got screwed by Ticketmaster" already - What did y'all expect - it is like a lottery, not many win)
Anyway, I called TM and asked if there was *anything* front row - They said Section 430 - Row A - Seats 1&2 - I looked at the seating/layout and the Ticketmaster rep confirmed there were no obstuctions. This is WAY closer than the section 410/411 I procured online. The seats look as if they overlook the stage directly from the side, but they were not put into the TM online system???
My point - anyone wanting to go to this venue/show may want to call about this section, the first few rows - still some front row - are still available, I just got mine yesterday after pawning off the more distant tix. BTW - If this helps you get a good/better seat buy me a beer! :)
I also have a question - Can anyone tell me what I might be missing aside from the projections/backdrops? I am really there for the music and spirit - not the visuals. I do recall this venue having decent acoustics so this may be a great way to get up close w/o the earplugs :) From the seating chart it looks like the seats I got will rock and if they don't me and my girl will wander, follow our 3rdEye, etc... Either way it will be an AWESOME show!!!!!!!!!!

I invite any Toolies who are interested in such things to come visit the museum I work at, the George Washington Masonic Temple in Alexandria. Me and a group of friends after that are going to have a Tool and Isis party.
hows the ticket situation in this thread? have most of them been taken or does anyone have 2 available? i was thinking my choices were either here, where theres people who give a fuck about tool fans, or the cheap seats from ticketmaster (unless those are gone too). lemme know. i would much rather give a sale to someone on here than a scum sucker on ebay or craigslist. thanks :)

Hey guys. My girlfriend bought 2 tix to this show for us, but we are unable to attend. I'm 99% sure they are floor seats, either section 105 or 106. If interested, please shoot me an e-mail at [email protected] and I'll get the exact information for you.

If I take the train to DC, how safe would it be for me to go back to the station after the concert and hang out until 9 AM when my returning train leaves?
*EDIT: Better seats are available, I just got a ticket in section 204.

By train, do you mean Amtrak to Union Station from your current location?
If so, how big are you?
But seriously, bad things can happen anywhere, so I guess the idea of "safe" is pretty relative. Union Station isn't the nicest place in the city, nor is it the worst. I've never taken the train, so I can't say for sure if they even let people crash at the station while waiting 10 hours or so for their departure. That shit is going to suck whether it it turns out to be dangerous or not. My advice? Go to the bar after the show and hook up. This way, not only do you get laid, you have a place to stay for the night, too.

Re: 2006/09/30 - Washington D.C. - Verizon Arena
I'm in section 105; probably the best section in the house for a tool concert.
In any case, I'd like to hear Wings for Marie in all it's near-20minute-glory.
I'd like to hear Jimmy, Reflection, and Wings for Marie. Probably the 3 most loving songs.
I could care less for the stuff off undertow. Just too vain, pathetic, confused, and malevolent.

The only song from Undertow that has been played is Sober......sadly. Undertow is a great album whether it is loving or not. One Word....Flood

I'm in 105, too - row W. I sat in the same section last time they were in DC, and it was awesome. Sound was perfect, and it's slightly above eye-level with the stage. If only it was a little closer, lol . It's cool, though . You get to really soak in all the visuals. Can't wait.

I got my tixx 15 mins after they went on sale. I had a cpl bucks to spend, plus I wont be able to see them agian for at least 5 years if ever.
My dilema was, somewhere in the middle but row A, or closer to the stage but in the middle of the section somewhere.
I opt'd for "A"
I'd much rather have all that room in front of me and be able to lean on the railing then in row L behind some donkey. I was a little further back for APC at Patriot, but being in the 1st row was huge. I def recommend it. So I am sec100 (dead center) rowA.
By my calculations, thats 1 row up off the floor and about 30 rows back from the stage. I didn't want floor for my "behind some donkey" reason, plus I didn't want to miss out on a good view of the screens. I now see they're setup a little different than Lateralus tour, but.
Can't wait fuckers!!!

i didnt have the money at the time to get tickets and my wife and i are trying to find the best tickets possible. very last minute i know. She just started getting into tool and ive been a fan since 93, but never been to a show.. AHHHH!
as good a place to ask as any: anyone take a taxi from Baltimore to Washington DC and approximately how much does it cost?
Fuck that. It would cost A LOT. I'll pick you up in Baltimore and drive you to the show for half of what they'd charge (j/k). The MARC train is the way to go.
yo- thanks for the replies but on the web site it says trains run only monday to friday? Looking for weekend info and no-where to be found. I found Amtrak to DC but last train is 11:30 or something and I dont want to cut it close in case I miss that train youre stuck at the station until the morning.
BTW- I need this info cause Im looking to go to the Virgin Festival which is in Baltimore in 2 weeks, and staying in DC makes more sense to me than staying in Baltimore.
If no MARC trains run, I'm not sure what to tell you. I bet you could hop a ride from someone on here heading to B'more to DC. I really think you want to avoid the long and very expensive cab route. I'd help you out, but I am coming from VA (wrong direction).
