This is what Tool does to people, I thought of something cool, so I impulsively have to share with everyone....
Anyway, I was not a big fan of 10,000 days until I thought of this. Now that I get where its coming from, I love it. 10,000 Days is the Disposition of Tool's career. Its the Intermission, or its the Cesaro Summability. We all know that after how fuckin pumped up Lateralus (the song) gets you, the soothing sounds of Disposition are amazing. We'll thats what this whole CD is, after the climax that was Lateralus (the CD), this entire CD is like the last song which lets you go gently.

Interesting perspective.
A more meditative/reflective album, as opposed to the cathartic Lateralus.

Yeah whether intentionally or not that is essentially what phatslug is saying. Which would make this thread a bit pointless cause that is clearly not the case.
I would say it's more 'Reflection' if anything, although that still does it no justice.
It's good to see you can enjoy the album phatslug, even if from a different place.

Most of it, yeah.
Seriously, I just enjoy parts of it, it's an album I can do without, I am glad that many consider it a great piece of art, I'll be waiting for new stuff even if it takes another 5 years.

i dont get that feeling at all. i experianced an INTENSE moment of enlightenment earlier this week and it just so happened i was listening to 10k which means i am always going to associate this album with that experiance. that makes this album very special to me.

I think this whole thread goes back to the argument elsewhere being that 10,000 Days sounds much more like an EP and less epic as Aenima/Lateralus. This could mean that Undertow, Aenima, and Lateralus are the Tool we all know and love; and Opiate and 10,000 Days are the bookends so to speak...but i don't know :)

I agree that you don't like what you don't understand, which easily explains the haters away. We all know that much, and that is why we laugh at them so freely and openly. Because we know that they just don't understand, and haven't grown enough to feel the album. Enough of that.
10K, I agree to some extend is a sort of "sigh"...like a big come down. If Lateralus was the inhalation, then 10k is the exhalation. All TOOL albums intermingle and piece together in multi-dimensional ways, because the music is created by 4 individuals that are open to the universal mind lattice (or whatever a non alex grey person calls it), therefore, the music is spherical in time and dimension. So to call it an exhale or a "sigh" is but one way to look at it. I've come up with a few different angles on it, but none of them tell the whole story. That is what is great about great and true art. It can be many things to many people, and then some.
