why are so many e-mails banned before registering?

ive had quite a few friends come to me now saying they are banned from this forum when they've never been here before and i myself had an impossible time registering as well for the same reason, i tried 5 different e-mail services and only my ex's school e-mail worked. any ideas?

thats weird because mine worked first try.

I think only paid email services work. It cuts down on the number of aliases running around this place.

makes sense why aol, msn, yahoo, gmail, and hotmial dont work but that sucks for alot of people who either 1 dont have a credit card such as myself and people who dont know why they cant register. should at least have something stateing this upon entry maby?

Well, I know that some/most/all free e-mail providers are being blocked to keep aliases away.

yeah but any new generation fans turned on by this album and wanting to dicuss it are going to be cut off and have no clue why. there should be some form of statement on the registration page

Yes, I just got denied myself. My tenacity brought me here, thankfully.

Re: why are so many e-mails banned before registering?

I was trying to register for weeks... finally tried my work email and I'm in.

I really wished there was some sort of message that indicated emails like hotmail weren't accepted. I'm sure there are a lot of people being turned away because of this. I also tried emailing [email protected] a few times but got no response.

It was a very frustrating experience trying to register.

Re: why are so many e-mails banned before registering?

I'm so glad I'm not the only person that wasn't banned. I've been trying to become a member on here for 5 years now..and have sent numberous emails to [email protected] I thought this might be some sick joke...noreply@toolnavy and I never got a reply...hmmm. There should definetly be some kind of block to keep people from generating ads on here..but blocking all the mainstream email accounts is a little to much in my opinion. Seriously..5 yrs before I signed up for a new email account. I don't like having to have 3 different email accounts just so I can talk on a website. There should also be some type of better contact address to get in touch with the admins. I would've sent them a letter or even made a phone call about it. Maybe they could have some type of security like toolband has ...when you send them an email you get anothe email saying you're message hasn't been sent and you have to click on a link for it to process it. Hopefully no one else has suffered as much as I have trying to get into this forum.

Re: why are so many e-mails banned before registering?

I see there's now a message advising gmail/hotmail/yahoo accounts aren't accepted. A little late for me but at least something was done about it.
