a poem for you

i wrote this poem shortly after i began to really delve into Tool, expressing my shift in thoughts. most people have told me to cheer up, but it was pure euphoria that inspired my thoughts! but i will say no more... interpret as you will, and share your thoughts.

** MIRROR **
by: joel land (yeah, that's me)

bear this labored sadness as you do your lies, mirror

hate it and lacerate, then weep fresh and fake tears

wear this veil of suffering for your crude distorted body, mirror

just because you don't know what you see looking out at me

but you don it for the other side, not for my side

and a billion setting suns is as clear to me why

if you could look into yourself, mirror, into and through to me

and if you could hold onto that image and fall in, join in with me

then you could forget about the other side and the lies

throw them away and die

only then will you see why you were always just a copy

wavelengths of deception
