I hadn't been to an arena since Tool in 2007 so this was pretty jarring. I hope they're confiscating this stuff at the door.
I have floor seats to Iron Maiden next weekend and I'm kind of dreading the "Sea of Screens" that will be on front of me. Especially in LA

No idea. Not privy to that planning. I usually find out tour dates around the same time as the rest of the world.

I would say I don't anticipate any outdoor shows (apart from that Sacramento festival) for the rest of 2019.

Just get good seats, RR gets a lot of love, but after halfway up, the sound is average at best

I'm one of the few (maybe only one) that thinks that Red Rocks is a bit overrated.

They get by on beautiful scenery but the infrastructure ain't great.

I’m sure most of you have heard the album leaked. It’s pretty easy to share on google drive... happy trails y’all. See you on the other side!

Well it sounds pretty legit to me. Studio recordings of the 3 songs they’ve played live plus the rest. I’ve given it a complete listen. I’m 110% sure it’s not a troll job.

I just had some friends come visit for a show at The Gorge up here in Washington, and they were saying RRocks has got nothing on WA. Hands down one of the most scenic venues, for sure... but I’ll need to do my own RR research.

It seems like it's a 50/50 split between fans that have indulged in the leak and fans that are waiting until Friday, like myself.

I'll wait until Tool Christmas (August 30th) to open my present.

I have terrible impulse control. Also, it just popped up in my drive when someone shared it with me, soooo.... there wasn’t much I could do to stop myself when I wake up to it ready to play. Can’t wait to explore the CD when it comes (amazon says 9/9 is when mine will get here...)

Re: General Tool Discussion

I have terrible impulse control. Also, it just popped up in my drive when someone shared it with me, soooo.... there wasn’t much I could do to stop myself when I wake up to it ready to play. Can’t wait to explore the CD when it comes (amazon says 9/9 is when mine will get here...)

Thinking I'll go that way myself. We waited this long. And I am stoked about the look and contents of the disc.

On the flipside, I am hearing it is awesome. Hardly a surprise. I already really like the title track, so an album of that will suit me fine.

I'm waiting for sure. I'd like to experience the album as Adam intended.

My only rub is will it be at my doorstep before I head to my campsite on Friday??

Well, the way I see it, I was probably going to hear it on Spotify before the albums will get to my house, and it’s not like the band is loosing out on anything by me hearing it now. I’m pretty sure they could’ve expected a leak like this anyway.

I just have this whole ritual planned, campground in a remote area, wireless soundsystem, fungus and a bottle if Caducius Premiere Passo 2006

Sonny boy I'll be 2 hours north of LA if you want to join.

My first listen will either be on top of a huge cliff overlooking the Pacific ocean, or in the view of an enormous mountain range.

I'll have a fresh cup of coffee beside me along with my wife and daughter.

I wonder what time on Friday that I can pick it up?

USPS will be everyone's best friend when they pull up.

I'm picking it up from a record store in town that I ordered it from.

The anticipation is building. It's going to be quite the emotional experience. I expect tears of joy.

I listened to it the way I was introduced to Tool. Hunched over a prep table on a 10-12 hour shift in the kitchen. Same with the 10,000 days album leak. I remember David bringing in a burned copy he managed to nab a few weeks early from Pirate Tray or some such thing. We all crowded around the CD player and prepped our stations out. Good times.

So…. I listened the leak and I liked it.
Even having listened to it, I’m still pretty excited for release day. I may even head over to the record store at go-time in the VERY off chance there’s a surprise vinyl batch or some such thing. I’m sure that info/rumors would be floating around if it were at all likely, but it’ll get me out of the house. Maybe I can get a copy before my pre-orders get here.

I'd totally be there with ya Embryo. But still recovering from hip surgery and not allowed to drive just yet. Getting better every day though! I have Pixies/The Cure on Saturday and my physical condition can damn well take a backseat long enough to make that happen. Plus that Iron Maiden show coming up in 2 weeks!

Speaking of shows, I'll just go ahead and beat the dead horse - Tool tour dates please!

Hell yeah, I feel the same way. Except my wife wants to come to the show too! That's fine by me, she loves Tool and we saw them there together last time.

They get by on beautiful scenery but the infrastructure ain't great.
That's just like your opinion, man. And I agree about the traffic infrastructure. Getting out can be an ordeal.

But for real, if your seats are shitty and you get in early enough, you can go sit on the plant risers on the sides of the bowl, down low. Its first come first served, and I have sat on the one 20 rows up one time.

And when someone like Junior uses the whole venue/rock walls for light projection, it is pretty f-in sweet. Still need to go to the Gorge and experience that one sometime before I die.

Anybody been to both and can weigh in with a comparison review?

I’ll be at RRocks for my first time next month. It won’t be TOOL, but I’ll let you know what I think.

It was my first exposure to the whole trance EDM scene (I still call it ‘techno’ if that tells you anything), but I never really felt out of my element. Hippies are hippies no matter what music you’re listening to. Had such a good time that I booked a trip to Denver to crash their RRocks show. Turns out it’s cheaper to fly to Denver and see a show, than it is to drive 3 hours out to The G and pitch a tent. What a world we live in. Should be good for comparing venues as it’ll be the same music and only 2 months apart.

My friends band is also launching their album on the 30th and I'm obliged to go to that listening party, instead of an unofficial Tool one at a local craft beer bar serving ToØL beers. Bummer.
