Do you think Vicarious, The Pot, etc is better than anything on Aenima or Lateralus?

Me, I'd put Vicarious in the top 10, but......thats it (so far).

I think I'd put Wings For Marie and 10,000 Days in my top 10, but not in the top 5. I still have to let the album sink in, though.

I think it's a little early, but at this point I'd say Rosetta Stoned is a top 5 song of Tool, IMO.

I'd say my favorite Tool song will always be Pushit. However, there is a very large chance that I will one day consider the combo of Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned my No. 2. And that's quite an honor, trust me. Every time I hear it I can't get over how brilliant it is. In music and concept, it's just a true mindfuck. Only Tool...

Put some headfones on and listen to Jambi with your eyes closed.

That's already in my Top 5. If Maynard gave as much as the other three it'd be higher in my book. It, also, is brilliant, though. Many like this album UP to Lost Keys, but I truly love the way this album ends. Yes, Viginti Tres, also.

Agree about Right In Two. Perhaps Jambi as well.

Still too early to tell etc. but in general, I don't really have ONE favourite Tool song - I have a group of about 5 or 6 that I really love but every now and then a different song will move in and out of that group etc.

For example, my favourite Tool songs at the moment might be:

Stinkfist
Eulogy
The Grudge
Wings For Marie/10,000 Days
Right In Two
Lateralus

but at other times something else will be one of my favourites. You know what I mean, it just depends on what you're listening to and how you feel etc.

I will say this though - I absolutely love Wings/10,000 Days! I'm not saying it is or it isn't my favourite Tool song, but I just really enjoy the whole 17min experience, especially at high volumes etc. It's just an awesome piece of music!!

I agree its early, but after Aenima came out I immediately had 5 new favorite songs, and 10000 days only HAS 5 "songs".

I think this album can sink in all the way to China and it won't compare with Stinkfist, Aenima, Parabola, Prison Sex, 46 & 2, Eulogy, Hooker w/ a Penis, Jimmy, H, Ticks and Leeches, Parabola, Pushit, Third Eye, Lateralis, etc.

Theres just not enough depth, not enough highs/lows or fast/slows. It's good for a years work, but 5 years?

i love where he screams "out your mind" towadrs the end and the music is heavy. awsome ending. probally my new fayroite tool song of all time now. like the other guy said, i wont know for a few months.

So far for me I haven't digested it enough to put it up in the top all time, but my favorites from the album are shifting... it started out as Vicarious -> Wings for Marie Part I/II -> the Pot -> Jambi -> and is currently at Intension/Right in Two.

The first time I listened to the album, The Pot was my least favorite song, and now it's quickly becoming one of my most favorite... I love how the songs take a bit to sink in, it really is true.

Thats a true TooL fan, in the top 25 TooL songs, you have just two from 10000 Days, my list would be very close.

And thats really the point. Compared to their best, there is nothing intense about 10000 Days.

ok well, i dont know why but seeing as that the offical album has arrived this week, like many others i downloaded the leek and have listened to the album everyday, went to buy the original have still listen everyday so i can learn the songs, in detail. because it takes time to digest a tool song because they are long and there is lots going on.

in my opion, i think the songs on this album are better than the first 2 releases, opiate and undertow for a start. what i mean by that is each member has grown on their instrument, the songs are more direct, and there are songs on this album which probably are in my top 10 tool songs of all time.

vicarious, jambi, wings/10,000 days, the pot, rosetta stoned, right in two. all of them are sound fresh, better than they have sounded before.

I love Jambi and Vicarious so far, but nothing will ever replace Eulogy for me...first Tool song I ever heard and my first listen made me cry, I'll never forget it.

"Wings for Marie"/"10,000 Days" is currently battling "Undertow" for my top spot. Other than that . . . one or two might sneak into the top ten.

I do, however, think the new album is the best in ten years.

not kidding - they should have really explored '23' more - listening to it now, there's alot they could have done in 5 minutes with ambient textures and shit that would have made it more 'worthy' of song status.

oh well i suppose it leaves me with ideas for my own music...

I definitely have to listen to this CD about 30 more times before I can make a decision like that, but I feel confident that at least 1 or 2 of the songs on this CD will go on my top TOOL song list. Contenders so far are Vicarious, The Pot, Jambi, Wings for Marie and 10,000 Days (Wings Part 2)
