If anyone were to put out a hoax album i would EXPECT it to be tool. I would do the exact same thing if i were them. Imagine how many people were diverted from trying to steal their real album by putting this fake one out. While i wholeheartedly agree that it takes alot of work to make a fake album, consider the fact that it's been 5 years. If you really listen to this album, to me at least, it doesn't seem like it would have taken 5 years to make. I believe it's a hoax. Although their are some nspired moments most of it is crap. How much more fun can a band have then to see all the posts from the "serious" fans theorizing on the contents of fake songs and straining their eardrums to figure out lyrics that are burried in a track? Good stuff Maynard.

Someone please tell me why they would want to release a hoax to stop people from stealing. the people who won't buy it STILL WOULDN'T BUY IT once it comes out cause it will be available as a torrent then. I just don't get why this would be worth it.

Wow, what an objective poll.
I suppose we're geeks for not blindly worshipping an album we think is mediocre. I don't care if Tool made it, it's not that good. At least not for them.

I didn't read all the posts, I just wanted to drop a quick note. I say I do b/c we all know Tool puts a lot of effort in to their music and I wouldn't put it passed them to make a decoy album.
Buit dont get me wrong I can see how it could be considered unreasonable to make a decoy.

How is it not objective? It's a simple yes/no question.

Umm...well...because you call people geeks for thinking it's a hoax. So, by name-calling in the question you are asking, you are not making the question objective. This is very simple and should have been learned in middle school.

Getting two albums, or something like a 2 disc set, would be ridiculously cool.
Is it gonna happen? No, but that would still be the coolest surprise ever.

How about you re-read it, smart guy. The subject line calls everyone a geek, and asks of said geeks their opinion on the whole hoax idea. Back to middle school for you.

I don't have an opinion on it being a hoax or not but I'm truly hoping it is. I haven't heard good musicians be so boring since the last time I listened to Dream Theater.

If that was what you meant, then I was wrong. The way you worded it makes it sound as if you're only calling those who support the hoax geeks.

Nope, I addressed the whole forum and deliberately left the poll options as they are so as not to imply any level of geekiness if a particular choice was made. I was being careful about that. No worries.

Anything is possible, I suppose. This, however, is not one of those times IMO.
Have you heard it?
I honestly can't understand how there are people who have heard this and not think it's the real deal.

Point of order, just because there were 5 years in-between albums, does not mean that the new album took 5 years to make. If that is your premise for believing it is a hoax, then you need to change your mind.

I suppose though it's farfetched, this leaked album could be a hoax. It's godlike, but it seems like it could just as easily be some re-recorded b-sides or something. Either way, I will enjoy this coming May.

How can it be "godlike" and "re-recorded b-sides or something" at the same time? Colour me confused.
