^I listen to The Mars Volta... I have moved on to other music... My point was, they haven't released a video yet, and the stereotypical Tool fans are forgiving and will just keep on waiting for it to come out. Why?
Why does it take an entire year to come out with a video? They've been playing the same setlist every night, they really haven't been straining themselves too much..

every time TOOL does a show [with a ceratain combination of songs], there's the chance of them "straining themselves" just as much as they ever have [with that combination or its energetic equivelant], because guess what, every moment is new; what exists, exists only now. in effect, everytime TOOL plays a song of theirs, they're playing it for the first time [yep true for any band playing any song]. major part of why "fans" exist at all.
TOOL's taping TONS of performances. whenever the hell they get around to sifting thru all the taping, that process will result in a collection or in collections, of the very best of it all.
can you imagine how long that might take (ALL factors considered), even if they release one live DVD per every couple albums? i can't.

Some of it looks to be pretty expensive fan art. Unless that scene with the woman was taken from some other source, I think it would have been expensive for some fan to create that piece.
In fact this whole video seems rather authentic however lacking in finish and uniformity. It looks like a bunch of separate ideas instead of separate images around the same idea.
Some of the cuts seem amateur, like the eyeball for example... seems almost like a placeholder for future retakes.
If I were to comment about the video I would say it looks like a leaked work in progress. There are some really good ideas in there.
They should release this music video before working on this "The Wall"-esque thing that has circulated (though, if people keep comparing it to The Wall, i would imagine they'd just drop it). Vicarious doesn't have to use Mr. Jones' claymation type artwork to film a video. In my view a video such as the one APC did for Imagine would be better: a series of film clips with the occational Tool touch weaved in and out of the movie. Quite possibly they tried the animation, realized it didn't work, and got stuck.

I have personaly talked to Adam Jones and he said that they had a little set back involving the creation of a Vicarious video. He showed me the promo crew shirts which were fucking amazing but everything is back on track.

Yea, with the CGI they're using, Adam can do everything down to the minute detail. He's bound to be perfecting every tiny bit of the video. It'll be worth it though.

i saw a video clip of "a" vicarious video online, whether or not it was official though i do not know. it had this s&m looking chick and televisions with car accidents/other random stuff that fit, so i don't know... has anyone else seen that one?

I don't know if the one i saw on you tube is an official video for vicarious or not...but i think it's one of the more engaging videos i've seen...baby grasping for air sequence and snake swallowing the giant egg sequence are intense.it makes you feel, think and music fits perfectly to it...if it's not the official vid it could be...

Yes this thread is pointless... can they really put out video's at this point? I was never one to complain about Tool taking a long time to do shit but this is getting pathetic. Maybe they are trying too hard to make it cool looking. Maybe they did video for all of 10,000 days and they are keeping in secret so they can blow our minds. At this point... if the Vicarious or Pot videos are not better than Parabol/Parabala I will be very dissapointed... then I'll cry... then I'll look to the next Mars Volta album to fill my media void.
We really can't demand anything from them. Personally I couldn't care less if one day they decided to stop releasing videos. I'm just glad they released the album... I listen first ... everything else is just an artistic complement to the music...they're the artists and they need their time and space to create their art ( and live their lives as well...). Demanding to change their art process is demanding from them to change and basically contrive their own personalities. When they feel comfortable to release it...i'm ready to buy it, listen to it, look at it...and do whatever it is that I do with it...=)... They are not trying hard to make it cool looking, they are trying hard to make true quality art...and that usually takes time...and I'm sure they are not conspiring against us, making us suffer =)...bastards =)...be patient... I have ten or twenty videos in my head, for each song...so i'm not missing out on anything...
