It's a great song all the way through, one of, if not my favourite tool song but the part mentioned by ding would deffently have to be the absolute highlight of an absolutly brilliant song.
I think the turning point of this song, in contrast with the original, is the difference in the bass line around 7:30. That just blew me away. Sounds SOOO much better in the Salival version... gives the song a whole new feeling (cue MJK's message at the beginning of the song...) I think that's what kmg1171 was talking about, and I absolutely agree. It gives me chills...
What do you guys think this change in the bass line means? Maybe something like a turnaround in perspective in Judith/10kdays? I'm just thinking out loud here...
I've been staring at this reply box for 20 minutes now trying to find the way to explain how this song/version makes me feel. I dont want to over do it by saying its the greatest 14 minutes in the history of music; but for me,... it is. I cant even put into words how many emotions I experience throughout the entirety of the track, but if I could put it all into one word... I would say 'numbing'. It's even brought me to tears on a handful of occassions. No other song has ever had such an impact on me at a physical level. (until Wings Pt. 2 which had a similar effect).

Agree with you MOMOwheeler. Maynard, here he is, rocking back and forth like in a trance just coming out with this amazing sound as Pushit glides along like a trickling drop of water on a glass window. The band really pulled a houdini with this song!

from a different angle, under a different light. that's what it's all about. MJK's first words prepared me for what was coming. And he did it admirably.
'I'm alive when you're touching me,
Alive when you're shoving me down.
But i'd trade it all
For just a little bit of
Piece of mind.' part comes up. this song is better than pot. who needs drugs when you have tool? can one be high on Salival? lol
anyway, i like this version better than the aenima one too.

i'd really like to hear a APC-ish version of aenema. that song is easily remixed, and i warrant it will cross new musical boundries. i wonder if maynard takes requests?...lol

really? damn! which song\s is\are in the sound track? i never got the chance to watch that! pushit? anything by tool would be perfect for animatrix! actually tool is perfect for just about anything! thank you for being there in my time of need, Maynard, Danny, Adam, Justin!

i'll interpret that as a sign of maturity, saying that they won't get their hands stained with any commercial deeds. then again, that's the way their music works, if you like\understand it, good, otherwise suck it. you don't compose to attract masses, music should still be a very personal thing.

Agree 100% with you. It's an unbelievable, gut-wrenching, emotional, amazing piece of musical genius. If they come up with anything close on this next tour I will be in fucking heaven. Or hell for swearing too fucking much. It's absolute perfection, and god, all the parts that have been said here are all amazing. Probably 'I will choke'... or 'claw your fucking throat away' onwards just edge it for me, but all - FUCKING GENIUS.
If, when I say I may fade like a sigh if I stay,
You minimize my movement anyway,
I must persuade you another way.
There's no love in fear.
- when this part kicks in, then the whole build up and punch you in the gut end-
Staring down the hole again.
Hands upon my back again.
Survival is my only friend.
Terrified of what may come.
Just remember I will always love you,
Even as I tear your fucking throat away.
But it will end no other way.
- if that don't say i love you, i don't know what does -

Bin Purpose: You are the real fluxerpretation, its true personification. TOYKO!! R.I.P. The Alien Gus
Just remember I will always love you,
Even as I tear your fucking throat away.
But it will end no other way.
That is not what Maynard says. He says:
Remember I'll always love you
as I throw your fucking throat away.
It will end no other way.
I personally like 5:05 - 6:25:
I am somewhere I don't want to be.
Push me somewhere I don't want to be.
Put me somewhere I don't want to be.
Seeing some place I don't want to see.
Never want to see that place again.
However, the extended version owns the album version.
12:26 to 12:35. Fucking gives me chills everytime. Maynard is so amazing. Like, I'll be sitting in my room with TOOL playing in the background, and then this part plays, and I immediately get this uneasy feeling, yet I also feel "comforted" in a way. Nobody but Maynard can have such a hauntingly beautiful voice.
