I don't know how it usually works, but it looks like there's still loads of tickets left on ebay, etc.... Does that mean we're doing a good job (those of us still fighting for something) of not buying from scalpers?

I sure hope so.

If I stick my digicam in the girl I'm with's purse, you think I can get away with taking some pics? I'll be on the first balcony most of the way back. I doubt I'll use the flash, it'll be useless that far away, but I should still be able to get some good pics if I can get away with it.
i have snuck cameras in in my crotch for two show and non of the pictures came out, with the flash on

I'm no expert at photography, but I know that, first of all, using a flash from any distance more than 10 or 15 feet is just pointless, stupid, and above all, rude to the band. Also, you probably have to have a camera that will let you change the shutter speed... to slow it down to let more light in. Or at least use higher speed film.... like 400.
Many digital cameras work fine in dark conditions, but you might have to play with the settings a little. But don't use the flash... it's pointless from that distance, and distracting to the band.
I think everyone from this post who got tickets should try to meet up, if not for just a second. It'll be cool to say hi and talk about the show before it starts. Let me know if you guys think this is a good idea. We don't have to have a fucking tailgate party or anything, just a meet and greet. Especially after all we've been through.

I wouldn't mind meeting some people from the boards...
SAY what you will, but because this show was hijacked i am forced to go through stubhub or whatever. here is my problem most tix are in sets of 2 or 4 etc ...anyone want to go in on a pair let me know. i would like to get as close as possible. i have $$$ limits but no to limited. i could buy the $900 tix but there are to many reasons why i wont. 400-500 maybe. ..let me know. someone is going to buy these and fortunately for me i have the means to right now. i am "OGT" MY sons name is KEENAN for fonzies sake.
I've been to the venue several times (I literally park 10 feet from the building everyday for school).
The venue is really quite nice. It's a small theatre that reminds a little of those opera theatres you see in movies. The best seats, obviously, are the first 10-15 rows on the floor, but the first couple rows in the first balcony are really good too. Don't worry If you're in one of the seats that are angled a bit to the side, those seats still have a pretty clear view. I guess if I had to choose somewhere I wouldn't want to sit it would have to be in the last couple rows in the floor section. The first balcony overhangs the floor level, so those in the last few rows of the floor will almost feel like they have a roof 20 feet above their heads. Overall, every seat REALLY is a pretty good seat.

Yeah, I've been a couple times. My friend had a graduation there and I went for some other event a while back. It's gonna be a great venue for the show. Speaking of...

I would just like to personally thank the members of the band and the crew for the 'dress rehearsal' show they performed for their friends at a sound stage here in Los Angeles on Tuesday night. Having experienced this, as well as an earlier rehearsal, the set list, sound and visuals should make those fortunate enough to be attending the Coachcella Festival and small venue shows VERY happy.
That's from toolband.com. Fuck yeah!

i'm under said balcony (SEC C ROW Z). you can see the full stage right?
also, is there some recognizable landmark (outside) that we can all meet at?

I've got two tix on the first row of the 2nd balcony, got em Sat at 10:01 online ticketmaster. Gonna do my best to bring back some good pics! Got a nice digi and I know how to use it. Plus 1st row up high I should be able to conceal my activities a lot better.
Can't wait, THANK YOU Tool for everything and FUCK YOU corrupt ticketmaster.
I just saw a picture of inside the auditorium and damn it looks like a great venue. I have much respect for the band to book these off-commercial theaters for this mini-tour. A few years ago Primus was doing their theater 'Tour De Fromage' and they got booked into Nokia NextStage in Grand Prairie. Even Les was like where the hell are we? (Ft.Worth----->grand prairie<----Dallas) That place near the Tony Hawk skate park with $8 bud light. I think it sat like 2700 or something but it also had the 2 balcony setup. It seems to me like a trade-off, because I had direct presale tickets from Primus, IE never had to deal with TicketMaster. But Each venue I went to was NOKIA, VERIZON, etc. I don't think I ever had a point to this post. Cheers to a badass show and has anyone else not heard anything except Vicarious on the radio? MP3 < FLAC < LIVE

Uhm, they aren't going to serve beer there are they? That's going to suck, I'll have to get lit up a bit before I go inside.
I don't think they will. I don't remember there being a place for "Refreshments". I think you've got the right idea. A buddy and I are bringing a cooler in the car.

silver coleman? Yeah, I'll probably bring one too.
No, there will be no refreshments or snacks served at this venue. However, I believe there are a couple stores across the street that sell alcohol, so that might be your best bet for pre-show activities.
Like people have said before, every seat is a good seat and every seat DOES have a perfectly clear view.
As for landmarks, right in front of the venue is a huge field with some trees, some I'm assuming people will be hanging out there before the show. The backside of the venue will likely be closed because all that is back there is a little parking lot, so I'm assuming the band will rope off the parking lot to park their tour bus. Further behind the parking lot is a street (Hillcrest), and that is where you should go if you're seeking alcohol.
If anyone else has questions about the venue and the surroundings please feel free to contact me on AIM. Screen name is: goosenesque.

Definitely, thanks to both of you.

Here's another question for you folks familiar with the area. I'm going to be staying the night there, and likely partying/drinking extremely heavily after the show. Should I get a hotel near the venue, or should I get one closer to downtown Dallas for partying purposes? Where will everyone be hanging out after the show?

Goosenesque can probably help you more than I can, but I'd reccomend getting a hotel kind of outside downtown. SMU is about 5 minutes north of downtown. I' not really sure about places to party, theres a ton of bars all over the place. Not to offend anyone, but immediately south of SMU is a gay neighborhood. Nothing against gays, just FYI. As far as partying locations, goosenesque probably knows better than I do.

My friend and I are gonna be drinking on the way up there from Austin (smart, I know), but we'll probably knock a few back outside the concert. I'm thinkin there may be more cops than usual because of the event. Goosenesque, where would a good place for pre-partying be? Just a couple of shotguns, nothing too elaborate.

I'd pack some too but 'possesion by a minor' is a little too risky for me. Good luck guys. haha, you'll need it.

We'll probably park and have a few shots and maybe some beers in the car. But I need to find a good bar afterwards. Maybe somewhere that plays indie music or something. It's not a huge deal where I go I suppose, I just don't want to end up at a club. And I'd like something near my hotel, because I will most likely be driving somewhat inebriated. Maybe there will be some sort of after party.

I'm 19 dude, so yeah, I'll have to watch my ass. My friend's 25, but the police won't give a shit.

Dunno. I'll call some friends and see where some good places would be. I'm with you, I don't want to end up at a club. Don't know about a bar though either, my friend's of age but I'm 19, so we'll see how that works. If we can find something, maybe some of us can tear it up afterwards. Have our own little after-party. I'm not sure about there being anything official though...

Damn, I have to admit I envy all of you: you'll get to see tool in such a small venue. It does seems like regardless of where you're sitting, you will get a good view. I hope to see some reviews/recordings from you ;) Have a lot of fun people!
I may be wrong, but I don't even think there are any hotels within walking distance of the venue, so you might be better off just finding something south of the venue near downtown. Plus IF you do find a hotel near the venue, it will likely be pretty expensive, since SMU and the surrounding Highland Park area are...rather high-class (gas is fucking 35 cents more expensive at the stations near SMU than anywhere else I've been).
For partying purposes, I think everyone will be best heading off to lower Greenville. It's not more than 5-10 minutes from McFarlin, and although I doubt much will be going happening on a Monday night, there could be some small bands performing.
For pre-partying, there are a few tiny stores right across the street from McFarlin that last I checked serve alcohol. There is a cool pizza place called STROMBOLI CAFE, so go there if you're a beer and pizza fan! Once you get to the venue you'll be able to see it no problem. Like I said it's right across the street, only about 200 feet from McFarlin.
Here is a map that might help people find some of the Greenville Ave. bars. The intersection of Hillcrest and Mockingbird is about where the show will be.

I guess that depends on who they use for security. If the band's security is running the show, then I doubt they will care much about smokers (I'm assuming they're used to Tool fans lighting up during shows).
If it's the SMU police, then watch out, they're a bunch of jerks.

I would have to guess Tool wouldn't be down with letting campus police secure any of thier shows... we all know how campus cops are....
