Fucking YES!

Setlist:
Stinkfist
The Pot
46 & 2
Jambi
Schism
Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned
Wings/10K Days
Lateralus
Vicarious
Aenima

I'm really impressed at this one. The band was sharper and better than they were on the warm up and I got really into the dancing and singing along. Definitly a great concert. Hopefully I'll get to see them a third time.

Maynardisms:
"Well, we're in Mich-again..."
"Ohio was louder...so was Kansas."
"We really need to wrap this up, I have some internet porn waiting for me."

ISIS sucks btw. All their shit sounds the exact same.

Re: 2006/09/22 - Detroit, MI - Palace of Auburn Hills

Pretty good. it took me a while to get used to the acoustics at first, the lyrics were innitially a blur. I was dead center on the lower level and the laser show was great. Little dissapointed in the lack of maynardisms i guess, halfway through the show and all he said was the michigan thing.

although they nailed wings and 10ks perfectly, i would have to say lateralus was the highlight for me (probably more pesronal than anything though)

probably better visuals than the fox theater show, but i would put the fox show on top of this one for everything else...

oh and isis was awsome. i zoned out to their music cause its difficult not to without lyrics, but it was definitly worth coming early.

Re: 2006/09/22 - Detroit, MI - Palace of Auburn Hills

Amazing show. I've only seen Tool one other time and that was back when they played Lollapalooza (sp?). They nailed damn near every song they played. Very tight performance. As other posters have stated, Maynard didn't say too much. After the last song he walked off stage making the hand motion as if he was jerking off. Maybe it has somthing to do with the joke he made earlier about getting back to his internet porn once the show was over. I'll never forget this show. The sound and visuals were just perfect.

Re: 2006/09/22 - Detroit, MI - Palace of Auburn Hills

i spent the hour drive home trying to think of words to describe the show, didnt come up with any.

this was my first concert ever, and im not sure it will be possible to top it.

and to the guy that was sitting on the floor seats in front of me and my brother, hope you turned out ok. the paramedics actually came and got him after isis and about 5min before the lights went down for tool. poor guy.

Re: 2006/09/22 - Detroit, MI - Palace of Auburn Hills

Another amazing show, I have now seen both shows here in Detroit and have to say the Fox show was better, more intense. Great set list, the new stuff completely rules (not that all of it doesn't, the new stuff is just fresher for them) The Pot and Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned were highlights and Wings/10000 Days was incredible, too bad not enough of the crowd got in to it.

I'm not sure if the crowd was too blown away by most of the show to be loud or just lame Tool fans. It was no louder than Roger Waters this past Monday. I would think that this contributed to Maynard being mostly quiet, I'm just happy he felt well enough to play.

at least Danny didn't have a Kobe jersey on. 46&2 was beyond adequate description.

his face was white as hell and he looked like he was in a coma for a while there, the guy sitting next to me said he thought it looked like some kind of downer. the paramedics carried him off and we never saw him or his buddy again.

If it was the guy with a mohawk, I seen him at the end of the show, he seemed to survive and see some of the show.

Re: 2006/09/22 - Detroit, MI - Palace of Auburn Hills

Number 64 was the best yet..... front row center section B seats seven and eight. Got to enjoy the whole show without some asshole stage diving on my head. My girl is 5'0", and she got to see the whole show unobstructed. Worth the $150.00 per ticket I paid. Thanks ticketmaster auctions.

We missed all of Isis, but Opeth opening for TOOL would be much better. Are you listening for the second half of the tour??????

Re: 2006/09/22 - Detroit, MI - Palace of Auburn Hills

Well, thanks to the guys sitting in 101 row E for helping me break my Tool Cherry! I have seen over 50 concerts in my life and I am at loss for words. I could die tomorrow and be a happy girl:) Set list didn't vary from what was expected. Even though the whole 10k days album is brillant, the highlight for me was Lateralus. I don't know why..not even fav song..just the way they played that tonite was soooo F'ing intense. I can still feel it. Goosebumps. I thought the crowd was typical Detroit. Never lame. Isis was pretty entertaining ( even if their songs sounded similar). Maynard Shredded it tonite...amazing with how sick he was.

Re: 2006/09/22 - Detroit, MI - Palace of Auburn Hills

That stage was really, really cool. It was probably even better the higher up you were, that's nice if you have shitty seats. I thought the visuals were as good as they've ever been. When they kicked the lights on the curtain for Lateralus, that was totally badass.

I actually thought that more of the crowd was into Wings/10,000 Days than I had expected to be. I really dig that combo-song, was nice to hear it live.

Sat in 101, row C. Dude next to me was really cool and definitely as big a Tool fan as I am. Some guy in front of us looked to be in bad shape, heard it was his first Tool show, and he was passed out by Forty-Six & two, I think. Hope that guy's okay.

I think it was the first time I've seen Tool when I was totally sober, and I still get chills when I hear different parts of different songs they play.

I'm pretty sure Danny Carey is related to Jesus, Odin and the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Re: 2006/09/22 - Detroit, MI - Palace of Auburn Hills

I believe the Fox was better acoustically speaking, however, this show was very good.
I'll have you know that the mind enhancing/altering substances of choice were a follows...
Mac Dee: The Purps, KZ: straight beer, Charlie: Vikes, and myself...well...let's say it rhymes with brooms.
I know this is against the band's policies, but cmon, Wings on Brooms.
Anyway, I believe this measured up to other shows of this year.
I've seen Coachella and The Fox Theatre Downtown. There's nothing like a small intimate venue. Don't u agree?
The Palace is not quite that, but I was excited none the less.
In fact, Mac Dee and I were giddy as school children walking into the venue.
Don't laugh. We were about to witness Rosetta followed by Wings for God's sake.
Personally I was a tad disappointed that the band preference was, and has been to have seats on the main floor.
There is just something about getting emotionally and physically charged up with adrenaline, in the pits,
while the best band on the planet shreds. But I did appreciate just sittin and zoning in too.

The show: 25,000 strong and the lasers were top notch. I noticed some minor timing issues and some missed cues, but no big deal. It seemed to be a touch TOO loud also. Drowning out Keenan's vocs at times. Wings was the highlight. It was then when they began the laser show, which was fabulous. The Pot's razor sharp riff echoed throughout the venue. I liked the new graphics also. The way the stage and backdrop wall all illuminated with lights and worked in unison with the music was stellar.

Keenan--joked that Ohio was louder and then the noise rose to a deafening level. Must have vocal chords of titanium. All these shows, at that high level.
Rumors of laryngitis too. Nicely done. (I think the days of him becoming blue or wearing bras etc. are gone. He's more mature, relaxed, and personable with the crowd.)

Jones----Seems to be the orchestrator out there, I guess he should be, after all, it's his band. His sound is as artistic as he is.

Carey---Drummers out there, Is this guy the best, or am I overstating things a bit? Sounds like there are two drummers up there.
The interwoven flow of the electronic and regular drums is quite mesmorizing.

Chancellor---melodic and piercing basslines...evil at times

In closing, please hear me out on this. If you don't like the new cd, be Patient. You're not there yet.
Meaning--this type of dynamic music takes time to process and sink in. I know the first time I listened
to my bootleg (sorry Keenan), I didn't know what to think, but at the same time, knew it was special.
Now I believe it is their best work. A similar phenomenon occurred with Lateralus.
It's funny how the band is always way ahead of us when making these albums, but they know we'll eventually catch up and "get it". Some will take longer than others. In fact, Mac Dee hated Rosetta at 1st, now it's his #1. Just fight your normal urge to always throw Undertow or Aenima in ur deck.
10,000 will grow on you. Trust in it. Furthermore, all bands that tour have to promote and sell their new stuff. That's obviously why they play mainly 10,000 with some old favs splashed in. Don't complain about not hearing this or that. This is a business and they can't please everyone at every show. In case you haven't noticed, the band is progressing, maturing, advancing
both mentally and musically through each new album and as time passes. Can't you understand this naysayers?
Cherish these guys while it lasts. They've been around since '90 and have outlasted all their counterparts.
It's damn hard to keep a band together this long, and not to mention, be as loved and as successful as they are, without much self-promotion or selling out.
I respect all your opinions. Isn't freedom of speech great. Don't take it for granite.
Kabir--Westbrook is as fragile as glass, lucky u acquired Stall. Nice site. See you all at Cleveland State on Monday. I can't get enough.

p.s. For some deep insight, opinion and analyzation of these new song's meanings,
check out opinions--albums--10,000--(sticky at the bottom--The Fluxerpretation...)
nice work PF.

Re: 2006/09/22 - Detroit, MI - Palace of Auburn Hills

The show was the shit. Awesome. I hated the floor seats but i managed, They band kicked ass like the other two times i have seen them. I managed to cross 2 tool songs i have not heard live before in "The Pot" and "Wings for marie/10,000 days". The dude has supposidly bad chinease food at the show who was carried off by the medics. Dude was a trooper and was back in his seats by the time jambi came around. Security was a fucking joke.

Re: 2006/09/22 - Detroit, MI - Palace of Auburn Hills

Yes, this show was pretty unbelievable... I ripped the Chicago show pretty well on the 18th.. but this show certainly made up for it...

and seeing the stage and lasers from a different angle helped... some.

Wings was much better here too... and the crowd was actually pretty respectful/quiet during the song too.. which was a bit surprising.. and even impressive.

Maynard starting The Pot before the rest of the band was ready.. that was amusing.

Re: 2006/09/22 - Detroit, MI - Palace of Auburn Hills

Well, I managed to sneak my crappy camera in there and got a video of stinkfist. ;D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6nS0FlubFE

The Tool show was excellent. Same set as the Columbus show and it was awesome. Despite witnessing a bad accident on the way home, we had a great time.

Maynard was spot on as well as the rest of the band. Visually it wasn't nearly as good as the Lateralus and Aenima tours, but it was still great. I managed to sneak my camera in and get some vids and some ok pics. The guy that checked me just patted my pocket and said cell phone? Yup. What sucks though is that this Pauly Shore looking security guy came up to me and took my camera batteries right when I was starting to record The Pot. Little did he know I was sporting a second set of batteries in my pocket lol. I got my original batteries back though, they were expensive rechargeables heh. I have a decent video of Stinkfist (some guy unexpectedly handed me a joint during this song so I was a bit off during my filming), the very beginning of The Pot and a little of Aenima. They sounded really good tonight. Isis wasn't that bad, but they didn't do much for me. Good show overall.

Re: 2006/09/22 - Detroit, MI - Palace of Auburn Hills

One of Many, Many, Many Tool shows for me. I was in a suite off to the left of the stage for this one, with a good veiw of the backstage area and all Band Memebers. I would have to say,Good show but a ruff start. Stinkfist was okay but Maynard had a tuff time on The Pot, my guess is because of his recent ailment. He almost started it over but decided to hack right on threw. They more than made up for there struggles on The Pot on 46 & 2, cruise control kicked in and they blew it up. I thought the timing on Jambi was all wacked out, seemed like they were struggling some with it. During Jambi Maynard had some sort of issue and petitioned the stage guy that sits behind Danny and Maynard. He soon fled back stage to get something for Maynard. Not back before Schizm he sang threw, sounding good to me. The sound guy figuring out the sound by this time definitly helped. After Schizm the stage guy was back and Maynard went back to him While Adam started Lost Keys. He took something, did something probobly to help with his ailment then went to his stage and layed on his back, head facing the crowd, head dangling down, looking at the crowd upside down. Possibly letting the medication do its thing. When Rosetta Stone came around he was already jumping up and grabbing his bull horn. Rosetta Stoned was the bomb, they nailed it. Maybe they fed of the energy from Rosetta cause they hit Wings and 10K days PERFECTLY. The down side is this is where all the yuppie college kids decided to have a mass exit to head to the bathroom and make sure the collor was still up on their pink polo shirt. The responce was pathetic after Wings and 10K days. They knew it, we knew. It was the best live version I have seen them do out of 3 times and the majority of the Detroit (auburn hills) Crowd could have cared less. Probobly wondering when they were going to do "Sober". So they all get together in front of the stage to hear a pathetic applause. Thats what ignited Maynard to say, "Ohio was louder" THEN Detroit finally wakes the fuck up and gives those boys the applause they deserve. The applause that made us a legendary stop for Rockers across the world. Then he said, Kansas was louder. I FUCKING BELIEVE IT. Atleast the band didn't hold it against us cause they finished off strong with Lateralus, Vicarious and Aenima. The Fox show was a 10 on every level. This one fluctuated between 4 and 8 for many reasons beyond anyones control. My basic dissapointment was the crowd.

P.S. The kid with the Mohawk that went towards the backstage on the strecher before Tool started was fine. He was actually up and walking backstage right after they carted him out.

I work away....I did it all for you

As I have to review the show...well it was trippy, and the lazers for me added another angle. I loved it all, but if you had to hear a complaint or two....

Great show all in all, but Maynards voice does sound muffled at some points (46&2 for instance), and the bass for songs such as Wings/10k was not around 130-135dB like I hope

Re: 2006/09/22 - Detroit, MI - Palace of Auburn Hills

My thoughts on the Tool show:
-Isis: the music itself wasn’t bad, sort of ambient, but I could have definitely done without the guy screaming his guts out. He sounded like something from Lamb of God or any one of those other heavy, heavy metal bands, and that didn’t match up with the music to me. Leave the singer at home and maybe I’ll give you guys another listen.
-Now to Tool: First off I have to say, I was at the Fox in May, and that was way better. This was my second Tool show, Fox was f*cking incredible, last concert my bf and I ended up paying about $150 a ticket from a scalper and that was honestly worth every dollar. Sure I was glad I went to this one, but if I had had to pay more than the ticket price, I would feel a little cheated.
-Tool sounded like they were trying to rush through the songs, it was usually a very quick segue to the next song and I got the feeling they really just wanted to be done and go back on their bus, eat some food and sleep.
-The visuals on the television above were awesome and entrancing, and I loved how the background looked like fire during Jambi, as if the band was being consumed by fire. Maynard’s “mechanical bull” ride during Jambi was amusing too. The lasers during “wings” were pretty cool too. Speaking of “Wings”, it was nice to hear live for the first time, but I don’t feel that I need to ever hear it live again. Maybe. I appreciated it, though.
-Maynard barely talked this time, only said three things: “We’re in Mich…again”, “Ohio was louder…even Kansas was louder” and at the end, something like, “I have some internet porn that I have to get back to”.
-The crowd didn’t seem to be that into Tool. The nice thing is that I saw no one being rude, and didn’t even smell any pot during the show :) but I barely saw anyone even marginally getting into it. I looked around me and I was pretty much the only one singing along to every song. Noticed quite a few older people and younger girls. That’s fine, but how many are actual hardcore fans? There was an older couple next to me, probably old enough to be my parents (and I’m 20), I looked back during one of the songs and they were gone, totally left. Well shit, I know this concert wasn’t the best, but get your money’s worth and stay the whole time for the band.
-I’m glad to see people are giving props to Danny Carey. Hey man, you are simply amazing, I don’t doubt you could do every song in your sleep and not miss a beat. Thanks for rocking like something supernatural.
-On the way out I heard a girl shout, “Now I can die happy!” Girl, I wouldn’t go that far. Adam Jones said in a Detroit Free Press article 9-21, “We rip our guts out every time we play”…hmm…I appreciated their effort but realize they’re getting old and they can’t blow your mind at every show. BUT: Tool is still my favorite band of all, and Maynard is still sexy. Thanks for everything TOOL.

Re: 2006/09/22 - Detroit, MI - Palace of Auburn Hills

I was in Sec 214 Row 3 and TOOL once again delivers a stellar performance! I really feel sorry for the people on the main floor who couldn't see the amazingness of the stage floor. I felt like I was in a BLACK SABBATH like psychadelic video. They never cease to amaze me! Anyone who complains about anything has no appreciation. Sure, the sound may have not been as good as a theatre sometimes but who cares the show kicked everyone's ass, period.

Danny is a machine to be able to play that hard for that long. He must be exhausted after his performance and how does he remember all that shit? Jesus!

Maynard was great and Adam/Justin are truly amazing. Justin was rocking so fucking hard at the end of Aenima, it was awesome.

Major stinky kind bud was going around the whole night and we had 3 Lesbians (2 hot, 1 butch) giving us a show, bending over, fondling each other and rocking. It was hard not to look at those fine asses! Damn girl, you need a license for that fine ass! Waving it all up and down in our face like that. Maynard closes by saying "I have some internet porn I have to get back to" that was brilliant. Why do you think the internet was invented in the first place? PORN.

We left the Palace in a monsoon! We literally got FLUSHED DOWN! What a great night!

Re: 2006/09/22 - Detroit, MI - Palace of Auburn Hills

Well, 7th Tool show. First on the 10,000 Days tour.

On setup the audio was mostly composed of a 1960s educational voiceover reading an almost non-sensical medical evaluation. Oh, and Samuel L. Jackson.

Because the stage was made of a white, shiny material, the stage guys throughout the show were dressed in white lab coats. It really had this clinically clean feeling.

Maynard was in this tour's "metal cowboy" outfit. Cowboy hat, ATF jacket, massive belt buckle, mohawk.

Pretty decent show. I've heard better, cleaner mixing of the vocals, but one has to excuse the fact that Maynard has been sick and the Palace simply sucks for acoustics in most areas. I was Section 101, lower bowl, front and left of the stage. The rest of the band sounded as tight-knit as ever.

I felt like the 10,000 Days material was a little new to the band while being played live, but that was probably because they've had so much time to tweak the older material. With that in mind, I was pretty pleased with the set list.

Stinkfist - Good opener to get everyone into the show, and also a way of "getting it out of the way". The extra bit before "I'll keep digging" keeps fooling the majority of the crowd even though they've been playing it that way since 2001. Maynard was holding back a bit with his voice.

The Pot - Maynard starts without the band for a half a second. It was good to see it played, but between Maynard's sickness and the Palace acoustics, it couldn't compare to the well-produced version on the album.

46 & 2 - Probably the most poorly mixed song of the night. Except Danny, of course. He is always spot-on. Also nice to give him some spotlight attention for the drum solo.

Jambi - Awesome live. The vocals were again a bit reserved for the more intense parts, but the song sounded amazing.

Schism - I was initially a bit let down to hear them start playing it. I could only think "not ANOTHER single", but I changed my mind once they got started. The increasingly frantic attack (one of the aforementioned tweaks to the older material) was amazing. It gave the song a breath (punch?) of freshness.

Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned - No vocal overlay for the Keys portion, and definitely shortened. Maynard laid upside down from his raised platform during this portion and the crowd's lighters (and curiously enough, cell phones) came out. Trying to imagine his view, it probably looked like stars. For Rosetta Stoned he wore a backpack of sorts to achieve the vocal sound. I would say that the song was actually played a bit up-tempo, which made it all the more interesting.

Wings For Marie/10,000 Days - Easily the best song of the night, and where we started to see the most stage effects. And the most meaningful. You could tell that the whole setup was for Maynard. Two lasers (the frickin' laser beams) were positioned over each of his shoulders, and were focused upwards at the jumbotron, which was displaying visuals of a blackness with a light in the middle, morphing around. Maynard's guiding light. Then, additional lasers shot around the stage. You could see that, if you were standing at Maynard's perspective, he was looking through a star/pentagram of sorts and the jumbotron (more importantly, the visuals) were positioned directly in the middle. All the visuals focused on quickly passing clouds, travelling down a tunnel, and had the feel of joining the collective unconscious. Maynard's voice sounded like he was never sick and it was a very powerful performance. Justin played this song sitting down.

Immediately following this, the band took their "break". Although, recognizing the meaning in the stage effects and following the intensity of the previous song, it seemed more like a moment of silence. Adam, Danny, Justin, and Maynard all made their way to the platform step and set down with each other. Lighters came out again, even Justin's (2).

"Ohio was louder. So was Kansas. I thought this was Detroit."

Lateralus - Maynard's voice was back for this one. This is one of my favorite Tool songs and it never disappoints live.

Vicarious - The single. Meh, gotta please the first-timers and radio legions. It sounded decent, but again Maynard was holding back. The lasers turned into the oldschool TV technicolor pallette.

Ænema - An old favorite. Sounded great, and a good closer.

Lot's of good, creepy, electronic segues between songs. I really enjoy those dark transitions.

No Opiate songs. No Undertow songs. But hey, they're touring on a new album and still played for 2 hours. No (well-founded) complaints from me. I'd still like to hear Flood SOMEDAY.

The crowd was one of the better ones I've seen at a larger Tool show. Having seats on the floor kept things a little more orderly. Drunken and nu-metal testosterone charged assholery was kept to a minimum, which is always nice to see.

I feel like Tool is finally starting to lose those "let's go mosh" fans, partially because of the musical direction the band has taken, and partially because it is getting increasingly difficult to afford tickets. Instead, they are becoming a good rock show that it is ok to go to with your significant other. And hey, there is nothing wrong with that if you're sharing in the experience. The overall theme has always been communication in its various forms.

Ah well, this has gone on long enough.

Adam, Danny, Justin, Maynard - Thanks for another great show.

Keith

Re: 2006/09/22 - Detroit, MI - Palace of Auburn Hills

Another overall great show here in the Great lakes State!!! My wife and I both thought the Fox show was a bit better. Perhaps it was the venue that made the May show superior in our minds.

My wife and I are avid concert goers. Never have we been surrounded by a more respectful and intellegent crowd.

Has anyone noticed that TOOL closed with Aenema in both shows here in Michigan, and it was pouring rain?
I realize that TOOL likely closes all the shows on this tour with Aenema. And rain is not an uncommon event here in our state. But the rain made the concert experience seem to last the entire drive home!!!!

Thanks TOOL!!! Thanks fellow TOOL fans!!!!

I'm pretty sure Danny Carey is related to Jesus, Odin and the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
hey I was in 101 row B right in front of you, that guy was messed up. I was with the chick who was 9 months pregnant. That was my boys 2nd tool show! That was my first TOOl show totally sober too. I enjoyed the music more but could tolerate the drunk idiots less.

First TOOL show and it was simply fucking amazing! I'm at a loss for words. Loved the jumbotron and stage images. Didn't Maynard tell us to "behave" at one point? It believe he said it after "Mich-again", but I could be wrong...

I want to thank the two bitches in front of us that talked incessantly through Wings/10,000 Days...how fucking rude; kinda ruined the experience for me.

DOGFOOD, sorry we couldn't hang and party, but I'm sure you understand why. It did look like you guys were already on your way to a great night!!!! Hope the copper sitting there didn't damper your plans *giggles*.
It was nice meeting you.

Huge thanks to TOOL! I also, can die a happy girl now! (Even though we came very close to getting into two accidents on the way home. First we hit a huge lake in the road at 55mph almost pulling us into the guardrail and spraying water over the car for at least 20 seconds. When we came out of it there was a car stalled right in front of us. Thank god our brakes didn't fail! Then as we were getting on I-75 there was a cop involved in what looked like a serious accident. Debris and shit all over the road, had to swerve to miss someones tire)

Re: 2006/09/22 - Detroit, MI - Palace of Auburn Hills

I bitched about 5 people around me out (218 row 13) out for leaving to get drinks during Wings/10k Days. Why can't fans appreciate Tool if the music isn't heavy? The guy and his girlfriend next to me (Canadian, could tell by the cigarettes) were really cool. Actually, most everyone was. There was an old couple who left about 20 minutes into the show and then two others who went to a big empty area to meet up with some friends so me and my bud had about 6 seats room to...well...do whatever my dancing at a Tool concert is called. Highlight for the night was by far Wings for Marie and 10,000 Days. I felt a connection to the band during those songs that I don't think I'll ever get again. Overall, the whole concert I felt like the band was singing to me and only to me. I blocked out everyone around me and just listened, because for that hour and a half, it didn't matter who I was, or who anyone around me was. We all had one thing in common, and that was Tool. I also really appreciated the fact that I didn't see a fight, or people being assholes to kids. At the end, everyone was so happy to have seen Tool that most of the yelling was cheers.

Danny: Of course, another amazing show. Drumming was absolutly superb during Forty Six and 2. I also really thought Lateralus was a highlight for the drumming.

Justin: Absolutly sick. Basslines were on time and creating the whole overall experience. I was really astounded at the complexity. Next show you go to, try to pick up the base ONLY. Its really amazing.

Maynard: Messed up The Pot (I didn't even realize until watching a recording today) but otherwise was on time everytime. I noticed how kicked up the speed of the early lyrics in Rosetta Stoned were. I know them all and I got lost. Extremly good tonight. Lack of Maynardisms though =/.

Adam: Absolutly outstanding. The solo in stinkfist (I think??) and being on cue through out the whole concert. I remember what made me excited for Wings was when a member of the stage crew set a stool out on the floor. Excellent Job.

Band: Overall, the bands performance was outstanding, I was a little dissapointed at my seats, but the stage and lights more than made up for it. Thanks for a great concert!

Also, most of the songs had intros, I just don't remember which.

I really want to thank the other fans tonight, you all made this experience more memorable for me.

Hopefully we'll get another tour date soon?

Re: 2006/09/22 - Detroit, MI - Palace of Auburn Hills

First Tool show and my only complaint was that I wish I didn't go with the person who went with me. I haven't been to too many concerts, but the ones I have been to, this one tops them all (big surprise)

I thought Maynard said 'Behave' after Stinkfist as well. I heard the Mich-agian comment, but didn't hear the 'Ohio was louder, so was Kansas.'

I love with what the band did during Wings for Marie/10,000 Days. And the crowd was really respectful during them too. The video and lasers added that special touch as well. Very personal. I loved it.

We got lost on the way home, had to go on some backroad 'Detour' to get on I-75. Of course it was raining, and then the supposed detour just got us further from our destination. It was the wrong way! We stopped at a gas station and my sister went in to ask for directions and I guess he said that every car within the last half hour asked where I-75 was. I'm glad we weren't the only ones lost.

I really hope I can go again next time around. I had a blast! Even the guy a few rows down, who was yelling at some people on his cell phone, didn't even bother me. Oh he bothered my sister tho. And she also thought the music videos were kind of creepy. I think they're brilliant!

Great way to end my vacation, AND a great birthday present!

Re: 2006/09/22 - Detroit, MI - Palace of Auburn Hills

First Tool show for me and my buddy It was pretty damn cool to see your favorite band live!

Pros: It was Tool, how can you go wrong?

the stage/stage setup. It was nice to see they didnt have a whole lot of shit going on equipment wise.

Aenima was AWSOME

Cons: The ride to and from the Palace. My friend and I got lost several times on the way up and didnt really know how to get back since from the freakin sticks and we werent used to big city driving.(fuck you mapsonus.com)

I got mezmerized by the stuff playing on the jumbo tron and not looking at what was going on on the stage but thats my own fault.

all in all a good show

Re: 2006/09/22 - Detroit, MI - Palace of Auburn Hills

A great concert. I bought my ticket on the ticketmaster site about 5 hours before show time. I was on the floor sec A, row 10, middle aisle seat. I couldn't believe how freakin good this seat was.

Isis did seem rather boring after a couple tunes. Their songs are too similar, especially in the drums. I noticed he must of been having a bad day because he was screwing up some fills rather consistently.

I got a kick out of Danny wearing a Detroit Pistons warm-up jacket on stage. After the cheers he took it off to reveal his damn Lakers jersey.

It was a great concert. The reserved floor seating was a godsend. I'd rather enjoy the show then have to watch my back all night.

The lasers kicked ass. Wings/10,000 days was my highlight of the night.

I wandered the parking lot for a half hour trying to find my car. I was absolutely soaked.

I got lost looking for 1-75 as well. I got stuck behind a big ass semi-truck and couldn't see any damn road signs and the trafiic/rain was too bad to try to get around it. I eventually lost the damn truck and at some point I saw signs for the Great Lakes Crossings mall and I knew I could get back on track there.

Thank you Tool.

The fucking acoustics at The Palace suck dick. The first three songs were distorted so badly you couldn't hear really anything. After 46&2 they seemed to get it together, but the sound was never stellar.

Of course the greatest frucking band in the universe kicked ass last night. Tool's music continues to insprire, confuse, excite, and (insert adjective) me. Thank You Tool.

would have rather heard sober and right in two, than Wings for Marie and 10,000 days. It seems the crowd really didnt get into those two songs as most of the people sat back down in their seats. other than that the show was awesome but they played too many new songs

Re: 2006/09/22 - Detroit, MI - Palace of Auburn Hills

Im the buddy of the guy sitting in section D on the mainfloor last night, Jarod is the kid with the mowhawk that passed out and turned white as a ghost and had to be taken away by medics..... And no he was on no kind of downers he simply hadnt eaten all day, and was drinking, and the docs let him go only minutes after the toolshow started. we were back in our seats about the time The Pot was getting over. Definately a story for me to tell my buddies i guess, i was scared shitless and didnt know what the heck to do. Im just glad it happend before all the lights went out for tool or else it might have been a big mess.... but thanks for the concern of all of you for jarad, he is fine, and apologized profusely to me on the way home.

All in all a good show though, thought the show at the Fox was much better however simply because of acoustics. The laser light show was pretty much incredible and i think i might prefered being in seats that werent on the floor.

The first concert ive ever been to, let alone tool. I went with my girlfriend, who was pretty 'huggy' that night, so i spent the majority of the tool set looking at teh SUPER kick ass Chet Zar loops [BTW Chet Zar > Alex Grey ANY FUCKING DAY]. Everything was spot on, visuals were great. only downer was that i got beer spilled on me. my girlfriend and I were in Sec 118 row 18 seats 4 and 5, and it was a clear fucking shot to the stage. musta sucked to be on the floor, not seeing the satge OR the Zar loops. Oh well. Thats my 2 cents.

I'm jealous...the sound from where you were was pretty good. I was wayyyyy up, so it was kind of a bummer. Still a great show though.

taproot, I dont think you'll find a video of the entire show, but if you follow my link posted earlier, youll see a video of stinkfist I recorded. Also, look at my profile on youtube for clips of Aenima and The Pot.

ion, either it was Maynard, Justin or the crowd, but it don't matter. It's all in good fun.

:)

And you guys are all very welcome! Glad you appreciate the videos.

lol, you called it "Stinkfish"
