I've a very wide range of musical taste and listen to a lot of music new and old. I buy CDs from only the artists that I like (and even then, only CDs on which I enjoy the full album), but that doesn't mean I don't listen to a lot of music.

There are some very excellent rap artists out there these days, and I wouldn't scoff them all off as "bling bling music."

maybe he's referring to this kinda stuff:

[Background]
Franchize! In my white tee
Yep in my white tee [12x]

beligerentfokker,

If your daughter is into rap, but is listening to the "bling bling" crap that's out there, you might try tricking her into liking good music by getting her some Kanye West, Danger Doom, The Streets, Gnarles Barkley, etc.

Once she gets to liking some of that stuff (which is all still hip hop, just not the standard "bling bling" type trash), she's opened up her musical tastes a little bit, and once you've opened your musical tastes just a little, it's not that hard to push it all the way open.

Nine Inch Nails, by the way, is a band that I've found as a good eye opener to many people. It sounds poppy enough on first listen (part of what I don't necessarily like about NiN), but then some of the material gets better, and can really open your eye to new music.

I'd rather listen to Hanson.

if those numbers are right, then the cd is projected to sell around 545,500 copies. that's less than lateralus.

yeah but following the trend they are getting more and more popular with every album. To have 50,000 more sold copies this time around is disappointing...to me at least.

You guys do not understand that site. Some retailers only sell a few copies. If those retailers submit first then it's gonna seem low. The only one that matters is when it says NOW IN: FINAL

And let me be the first to say that Rage Against The Machine's - Bullet In the Head, Freedom, War Within a Breath, and Down Rodeo are ALL better than ALL of Maynard's tragic comedy of complete and utter garbage called eMOTIVE.

It's fucking rediculous to dismiss hip-hop as non-art. There's more too art than third-eyes, 7/16 drum beats, getting in touch with our inner karma and blown-out scans of TOOL PENIS wrenches.

beligerentfokker,

Mos Def and/or Talib Kwalie-sp? is the only crap i mean rap i like

If you want to relate rap/hip-hop to Tool, you can read the "No-Shelter" lyrics.
Except, you might notice that Zach brings up the topic of autonomy through rebellion (one of the central arguments of the Unabomber) in addition to "living vicariously".

It’s a different approach to the same subject with equally as much artistic merit.

Here are some examples of rap-rock:

Kid Rock,

Linkin Park,

You're assuming that the current ratio is indicative of the whole. It's fairly safe to say that it's not.

For example -- Perhaps the major stores (Sam Goody, Tower Records, Virgin Megastore, etc) in NYC, LA, and other major metro areas have yet to report. Perhaps we're getting the 28% or so in rural areas, small metro areas, and other low-population vicinities.

Anything is still possible at this point, but I think it's quite clear that 10,000 Days will come out in the #1 spot for its first week. The only threat to it during the second week is the new RHCP album.
