If your daughter is into rap, but is listening to the "bling bling" crap that's out there, you might try tricking her into liking good music by getting her some Kanye West, Danger Doom, The Streets, Gnarles Barkley, etc.

Once she gets to liking some of that stuff (which is all still hip hop, just not the standard "bling bling" type trash), she's opened up her musical tastes a little bit, and once you've opened your musical tastes just a little, it's not that hard to push it all the way open.

Nine Inch Nails, by the way, is a band that I've found as a good eye opener to many people. It sounds poppy enough on first listen (part of what I don't necessarily like about NiN), but then some of the material gets better, and can really open your eye to new music.

if those numbers are right, then the cd is projected to sell around 545,500 copies. that's less than lateralus.

Worldwide yes. Austraila sold over 70,000 which is platinum there first week. I know it debuet #4 in the UK but i dont know how much sold that is. I know it debuet #1 in the netherlands but dont know how much sold that is.

Rage Against The Machine is more than half "hip-hop" by all accounts.
And let me be the first to say that Rage Against The Machine's - Bullet In the Head, Freedom, War Within a Breath, and Down Rodeo are ALL better than ALL of Maynard's tragic comedy of complete and utter garbage called eMOTIVE.

You're assuming that the current ratio is indicative of the whole. It's fairly safe to say that it's not.

For example -- Perhaps the major stores (Sam Goody, Tower Records, Virgin Megastore, etc) in NYC, LA, and other major metro areas have yet to report. Perhaps we're getting the 28% or so in rural areas, small metro areas, and other low-population vicinities.

Anything is still possible at this point, but I think it's quite clear that 10,000 Days will come out in the #1 spot for its first week. The only threat to it during the second week is the new RHCP album.
