Now Tool fans have a new word to insult each other with.
I love "Right In Two," but I really can't stand what it has spawned.
All anyone does is insult each other here. It's as if you're all enemies. It's completely bizarre and a total antithesis of what one would expect Tool fans to be like after listening to the band and their various messages of unity, compassion, communication, and understanding.
"Sheep." "Monkeys." What a cop-out way to disagree.
Try being nice to each other! Being nice rules.
Love,
Matt

We're all either sheep, dogs, or pigs - according to Roger Waters. Maybe MJK wanted to throw in monkeys as well.
I'll agree that the unnecessary and unwaranted insults on this forum are a bit much. Jokes are one thing, but some things are just brutal.

Indeed. I guess that's what you get when you allow free stating of opinion, though. You would think that maybe, just maybe, those who appreciate and at least somewhat understand Tool's music would be a little kinder to one another. Heh...the burdens of free-will.
-Free will...another thought from Right in Two, no? Oh well.

Roger Waters used monkeys as metaphors for humans all throughout his solo album Amused To Death. Such a good album. So is Animals. That actually might be my favorite Pink Floyd release.
Maynard's use of monkeys in the song is perfect. The fans' use of it on this messageboard (and elsewhere) is totally inappropriate. It's such a second-hand embarassment moment.

I liked it in The Prophecy when Christopher Walken's character called humans 'talking monkeys'.
I'm keen on the term 'ape', myself. And I've always liked the term 'sheep'.

To be completely honest, I thought from the title of this thread that you were comparing "Right in Two" to "Sheep" by Pink Floyd.

Not a reply really, just a blanket statement. Visualizing the earth from above, taking it in all in at once, unfortunately this is what we see. Monkees killing monkees killing monkees.......from the political factions in power....to the corner convenience store on your block. It surely sucks.

The monkey thing, IMO, applies to ALL OF US. Even Maynard himself. All humans are monkeys. And it's not a new metaphor, by any means.
Man, even INCUBUS has used it before Tool ("we're apes with ego trips")... So please, don't start acting all holier than thou, calling eachother monkeys. I'm a monkey, you're a monkey, everyone's a monkey. The end.
