Steve Irwin....Dead at 44. :(
I guess this is off topic, but I just want to give my sympathy to Australia for the loss of Steve Irwin (The Crocodile Hunter) today. I loved that guy. He was awesome. His death is tragic, and he will be missed.
I'm sure you've all heard by now, but he died in a 'freak accident' with a stingray (its barb pierced his chest and his heart), while filming an underwater documentary.
I have watched severeal biographies of the guy, and he seemed like a happy, free spiritied, innocent sort of guy, with a true love and passion for animals. At least he died doing what he loved. I feel bad for his wife and his 2 kids.
RIP Steve...:(

Such a sad loss - he seemed invincible. It is still very hard to believe. When you think of all the dangerous creatures he worked with, it is just bizarre that he should be killed by a stingray. But he died doing what he loved. So sad for his family and Aussies generally. I thought he was awesome - so full of life and totally REAL. Sigh. He had a voice that was strong and loud - we'll miss him.

Steve Irwins death was tragic, i personally found him rather annoying and a real exaggeration of an "Australian" which may have lead to misperception oversea's. But regardless i feel bad, his poor wife and kids!
The butterfly effect's myspace, unfortunately it doesn't showcase their best tracks there but you get an idea, they are decent for a commercial rock band. Our band has been contacted by their manager so i try have a nice attitude towards them hehe :p
Re: 2007/01/24 - Sydney, AUS - Entertainment Centre
Ha, while its sad that steve irwin died, as it is when anyone dies, i cant exactly say its a tradgedy (other than for his family and such obviously). I aint gonna pretend to like him cuz he's now dead. He was an anoying fucker who became famous for acting like a 5 year old, saying crickey, and being god damn lucky not to get got before now doing some of the stupid shit he did. Oh, and i forgot to mention danlging his 1 year old baby infront of a huge crock. Seriously, i cant think of a worse image of australians than him... except Johny lol.
lol, and id just like to not that The Butterfly Effect, the band, used the term as their name before the movie came about, lol, i keep hearin people say that they pinched it from the movie... which is just stupid.
Re: 2007/01/24 - Sydney, AUS - Entertainment Centre
Yeh Karinvool, Cog and The Butterfly Effect would all be awesome openers. Maybe more like Cog or Karnivool.

TBE opened for SOAD when I saw them last year...was quite cool, one of the few good Aussie bands...I don't know why they're not more famous than those hack fucks of the likes of Jet, Wolfmother, the Vines. it makes no sense.
and it must be said...Shihad/pacifier...BLAND MEDIOCRE CRAP. Dont know what people like about them.

Re: 2007/01/24 - Sydney, AUS - Entertainment Centre
We are sitting way up the back in the corner of the fucking entertainment centre, so its safe to say, i'm not really excited about this show at all. Last tour I saw tool in wollongong and it wasn't even at half capacity, empty seats everywhere... Anyway i'm thinking of selling my ticket, going to wait and find out if there are any more shows announced first...

They played so many shows in Aus last time, I don't see why they don't play as many now that they are presumably more famous. Perhaps they will come back to Australia and NZ a second time.

God I hope to f**k that Wings hits the Sydney show. I don't want to hear that it got played at BDO a couple of days later in front of 20,000 screaming 14 year olds and not to us.

Set times for Big Day Out are much shorter so my guess is that they won’t have time to play it.
Re: 2007/01/24 - Sydney, AUS - Entertainment Centre
yeh i cant see them dopping wings from their set list now its in there
but i would be suitably outraged if they did. i mean, really very unhappy and angry
and yeh, BDO sets dont tend to suit bands like tool. Tool have a whole atmosphere about them... but that atmosphere i kind of hard to build up and maintain over a short set, when people have been seeing other bands and other types of music. Some bands pull of that kind of thing really well, but id think a tool would seem rather watered down at the BDO.
Re: 2007/01/24 - Sydney, AUS - Entertainment Centre
I don't think Wings/10K days is gonna be played in a festival setting, it's just not. If Tool headline, which I think is the only way they would play this shitty festival, they'll probably get 2 hours just like Metallica did back in 2004...in which case we'll probably get their 'standard' setlist sans Wings.

Oh MAN - really? That would be the MOST amazing thing!
WE are STILL very very excited about seeing Tool live. I wake the little drummer boy up every morning with the words "One more day closer to Tool, Jordie!"
Re: 2007/01/24 - Sydney, AUS - Entertainment Centre
I just want to let you know there are honest people on ebay. I bought two GA floor tickets for the sydney show at face value through a buy it now option. I suggest people who missed out on tickets constantly scan for these kinds of people.
Re: 2007/01/24 - Sydney, AUS - Entertainment Centre
Great to see some good news emerging after all that grief. You should have to answer ten Tool questions before you can but a ticket. LOL. Then the fans would win and the scalpers would lose.
