Just curious who here on TDN has this cd, its a tool cd that i found in the depts of the IRC maze. It has alot of good live undertow shit, along with a sick solo from danny, and one of the only (live) tickes and leeches.
I susposed i can host the torrent if someone wants it, or try to google it.. It gives ya some "new" tool for the time being... and for anyone that hasnt heard it, the versions of flood, opiate, and undertow live are sick...
Im sure most of you already have this CD, but i just want to make sure my fellow crackheads... i mean toolheads have what they need.

I've seen that torrent and was wondering what it was. Thanks.
In Ticks & Leeches Live, does Maynard talk about California or something? I heard one a while ago and don't remember.
downloaded a torrent once of tool named four track demo, could be a bootleg as opposed to a demo, i dont know but it sounds like it might be early studio stuff. anyone know? i suppose i could seed it if anyone is interested.

i have tales from the darkside.. i got it off ebay for $20 like 3 years ago, it only has live songs from opiate and undertow, from two shows...
I also got Tales of the Darkside a while ago. I downloaded it off sharing the groove. Good quality, and a great show.

No Ticks and Leeches, is it the right one? Also its said to be from 1993, are you sure they even wrote that song then?

Yes. It contains the same songs.

Kiss the Stone created the Tales from the Darkside bootleg from a six-song Westwood One Radio Networks live CD called High Voltage (see Promotional Releases) and added two extra songs. The band retaliated: "as you know, we hate bootlegs. so we attached the bootleg to some european releases to squash the import cost." (see also 5.5)
5.5 - Westwood One - High Voltage
The Westwood One - High Voltage CD contains Tool's live performance of August 6, 1993 at Lollapalooza in Irwindale, CA. It was recorded and edited for North American radio stations by Westwood One. Tool's performance is actually on disc two of a two-CD set.

Yeah, I've got it. Tales From the Darkside does NOT have Ticks and Leeches on it, it was released far too early for that to be even possible. If your copy has that song on it, it's likely it was added as a bonus track by the seeder.
The following comes from http://www.collectiveunconscious.org , which is a great site to find out about TOOL bootlegs and know what you're getting before you trade (or download).
Probably, one of the most wide-spread Tool recordings, Irwindale 08.06.93, on any bootleg. The most prevalant silver-disc to have been distributed of Tool: "Tales From The Darkside". This is, pretty much, the same bootleg as both "Sleep Forever". Both bootlegs are sourced from a FM radio broadcast for Westwood One which was also released as a live CD on Tool's Undertow release in Australia & New Zealand.. Soundboard in quality, this has been MP3'd more than really anything, I suppose. There are a few different titles for this source as well. Various repackages of the same product, over & over. And over. The last track is a cover of Paul McCartney's 'Silly Little Love Songs". It was a one-off project with MJK & a few other people called 'Love Jones'. All in all, something worth hearing. The version I have is not MP3, it is from the commercial silver disc. The silvers are actually rather rare as, from what I understand of the situation, there were only something like 40,000 of these pressed. The writing on the scan is both cheesy & prophetic, looking back on over a decade of Tool. Interesting.
Notes: Also, very odd, there is a cassette hum as the recording starts up. Am willing to bet that this was sourced from a cassette from a DAT.

Re: Tool - Tales of the Darkside
If I recall, it's not a live album per se, but a single for the song Bottom that includes several live tracks. Yes?

Re: Tool - Tales of the Darkside
The wonders a little internet surfing will do. Ryan's site www.toolcollector.net has this picture of the single. It's for Sober and seems to be a Dutch release that includes eight live tracks. I imagine it had a pretty limited run, and so commands higher than normal prices, since it's as close to a live album as Tool ever released (Salival notwithstanding).

I have this on my computer actually. (I purchase all my tool music, so if I could get this to support the band's work, I would). Seems to be a live album with the following songs:
Bottom
Flood
Jerk-Off
Opiate
Prison sex v1
Prison sex v2
Sober
Undertow

3.4.3 - Pressings and packaging
The CDs are packaged in slimline jewel cases or cardboard sleeves. The Tales from the Darkside (Dutch) version (74321 22604 2) is packaged in a slimline jewel case. The other two DE and AU singles, however different, were given the same catalogue number (74321 21849 2) but are packaged in a slimline jewel case and a cardboard sleeve (respectively) and list the same tracks.
The CD in the slimline jewel case erroneously lists track 01 as "Sober (album version)" when it is actually, "Sober (edit)".

I am an idiot. I saw it in a store about 10 years ago, and thought 'Ah, I'll buy this later' - I'm talking about the official release here, the Dutch thingy, then when I came back it was gone and I've never seen it since.
Those with Sober/Tales From the Darkside (Dutch)...
I recently bought an alleged copy of the Sober Dutch import cd, with the “Tales From the Darkside” tracks. While I believe it is most likely a legit copy, some things about the seller himself, the auction and the CD itself, has me wondering if this could be a fake.
A little background information: First off, among his mostly positive feedback, there is a couple of negative feedbacks claiming he has sold fake copies of rare CDs. Most of his auctions are set up to be “private” and thus you cannot see what he has sold in the past, merely the feedback from the buyer. Also, I was able to “Buy It Now” for the fairly cheap price of $29.95 (fairly cheap for this disc). Furthermore, he has already displayed some dishonest conduct with this sale. I was quoted a certain shipping price (shipping, not handling) and I paid for insurance. He apparently pocketed most of the shipping money, as well as the extra for insurance. He spent the lowest amount he could on shipping, and it took almost 2 weeks to get here. He also described the CD (and the entire packaging/booklet) as opened, but “like new.” That was a lie. The booklet has a large crease in it, and the face of the disc is roughed up.
Anyway, on to the CD itself. I tried to search the forum, and used Tool Collector’s site, to determine whether I had a fake or not, but some things either was ambiguous or did not match up:
The 2nd track, Undertow, sounds messed up briefly at the beginning. Kind of like the sound waivers a bit. Is this normal for the disc?
Is the booklet basically black and white in the interior?
I read on this thread that this single contains no explicit words. While Sober sounds awkwardly censored (almost like it skips), I know I am hearing some explicit language on “Prison Sex” (both versions) and on “Bottom.” On “Jerk-Off” I am not sure if the ending is censored or MJK is simply not singing the explicative.
The ending of Bottom has a awkward, abrupt fade out. It is then follow by a very brief bit of stage noise/twiddling and some crowd noise.
Please let me know if this is on other discs as well. I will be approaching the seller about the shipping money and the condition of the cd, looking for a partial refund/resolution. However, if this is fake, I want to know if I should file a claim. It would be a shame if this is fake. Besides the annoying censorship, these are some great, great live tracks. However, I am not paying thirty dollars for a fake. Thanks.
Re: Those with Sober/Tales From the Darkside (Dutch)...
All i know is I bought one and I had one ?Downloaded before that. They are the same so it is legit imo at least on mine. The Artwork and Everything is Legit on mine and It's Real. Yours could be fake but i could not tell you unless you scanned the artwork.
I've downloaded it from dc (if they didnt release it officially, then it's not a steal, is it? :)), its nothing special, some live performances, but not bad at all. (though those 192kbps mp3s arent perfect, "probably" your cd will sound better.)
(tracklist is like: undertow, sober, opiate, flood, prison sex, jerk-off, prison sex, bottom -- all live.)

I've been looking for this on Ebay for a while now to add to my Tool collection. I can never seem to win when I bid and there are very few that have a "Buy It Now" option. But I'd really like to get it. So the live is good? Well either way I think I'd like it for the collection.

IMO it's not that great. i believe there are three (different) soundboard recordings of this show. it's a regular Tool show, nothing spectacular really happens, the quality is decent but not amazing, it's worth hearing but not really worth spending money on.
