I remember reading about the possibility that Rosetta Stoned may contain a hidden meaning (since historically the 'Rosetta Stone' was the key to translating Egyptian hieroglyphics). I was thinking that it might be some type of code. Now that we have the official lyrics, maybe someone out there can crack it. Maybe that's why Tool released the lyrics to just this song.

I tried taking every 23rd letter (thinking Viginti Tres might be significant), but stopped after about 15 letters because it wasn't spelling anything.

Taking the letters in the Fibonacci sequence (1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13...) didn't seem to yield much better results either.

Don't know much about the Enochian language or how that might apply, though I know Blair used it in a past newsletter (the one that had M33IXOMAXIP in it - IXOMAXIP is an Enochian word meaning 'let her be known'). Well, remember, the Rosetta Stone was a tablet with three different languages on it. 2 of which we had already before deciphered and were able to read off the tablet. The third language, Egyptian Hieroglyphs, we were only able to read BECAUSE of the tablet, only after many years of studying it.

Each of the three languages said the same thing on the Rosetta Stone. So, it may help to look for something about the song (or maybe the whole CD) that depicts one thing in three different aspects, one of the aspects of which is at first mysterious to our understanding. Perhaps we are meant to look for two aspects of something that are presented throughout the song (or cd) and consider ourselves (our insight) as the missing mysterious piece. I sometimes am a mystery to myself, and it'd certainly help for an artist to depict a character in song who is similiar to me, so that I may better understand myself by translation through a similiarly depicted character in song...

Just a few vague conceptions I've had here and there concerning your general suggestion...

If you're referring to the title of this thread, I meant "Could the official lyrics be like the Rosetta Stone" (referring to the tablet and not the exact song title, which would be missing a "d").

Jesus, why do you strive so hard to find a hidden message? I mean, really, what great truth has been found by overanalyzing a Tool song, album, etc.? I've come across some great personal interpretations, but it's quite probable that there will be no enlightenment at the end of the code. Blair for the most part just rambles on and on, why do you pay so much attention to him? (Personally, I find most of the newsletters very annoying) You wanna interpret? Fine, write an article or something.

All I have to say is..i KNEW it was alrighty then.

I dunno then. Granted, I heard the other lyrics that we'd come up with before, but certain spots had to be taken with some grain of salt and some faith... The supposed 'official' lyrics to me took no stretch once I read them and applied them to the vocals.

Other than a few spots where there's a linking word in the written lyrics but he doesn't actually sing the linking term (like the 'we don't know and we won't know' how he only really *sings* 'don't know/won't know') the lyrics are spot on and make way more sense than our previous expectations.

Especially the first and second verses. The officials match the vocals and make WAY more sense, story-wise.
