---Some parts are just too difficult to tell exactly what's said, and after laboriously going over this thread, I don't believe anyone's going to know for sure, even when the official lyrics are released. I've noticed a lot of Tool's songs performed live, and on the studio albums rarely matches the "official" lyrics, if you really want to split hairs. That said, I'm confident that the being made a "wicked, Matrix-like slow motion jump" and ended up hovering above his bugged-out eyes and gaping jaw. Makes total sense to me. So does the Uncle Martin line, I like it, but I don't hear it on the studio album.

Imagine this sort of chunky dude eating krispy kremes and eating a sundae and then some kind of aircraft flies right over him. he took a shit and dropped what was in his hands. "Now I sound like "Peanuts" parents" is a great idea in my mind and would fit except that when listening to the song, it doesnt sound anything like that line. I still believe the line to be "all the sudden the peanuts dance"

Um no, he doesn't definately say that at all, I hear it as "something ran over my Birkenstocks" so until the lyrics are released you don't 'definately' know anything.

I played around witht his last night and noticed the right and left vocal channels are a bit out of sync, making it dificult to decipher. I took each channel and listened to them seperately, deciding which one was clearest, then made that a pseudo-stereo track. I then took that and ran it through a compressor to keep the attack from stomping things too bad, slowed the pace by 33% and increased the pitch to just a bit below normal. I also removed some of the extraneous stuff, leaving only the rambling parts. From what I am able to gather is the opening sequence isnt one fluid story, but a jumble of sections from a bigger dialogue pasted together to tell the story of this guys "abduction". Where those parts are pasted together, I have inserted "<...>"

The intro is definitely talking about a percieved or actual alien encounter while under the influence of LSD:

As some may know, "blotter" is papaer satureated with LSD.

I have transcribed what I *think* is the correct content, but there are 2 parts that remain uninteligible:

While that's an interesting theory, I don't think that's the case with this song. I believe it's all fluid, but some of the words are so unintelligible that we won't really be able to decipher it until we hear it live (which I couldn't understand), or when official lyrics are posted.

After hearing the Dallas show, over and over, I'm sure that Maynard sings:

"THEY ALL SOUND LIKE PEANUTS' PARENTS"

that's what he sang in Dallas, so I'm pretty sure that what he says on the CD.

The parts that "echo" after the main voice definitely sound like holy fucking shit... but the first time he says it, if I were to take a stab, sounds almost like

to me its more like a pause in seemingly chaotic thought... Like a million bouncing balls are suddenly compressed into a small room, an attempt to see the whole if you will. A breathy "Holy fucking shit" is all that arises in this instant as if this person is trying to convey his thoughts to someone who is not tripping on blotter acid and got lost along the way... Since the song becomes more clear as it goes on, it would present the idea to me that the two individuals are beginning to understand eachother as the piece progresses... i dunno.

I see Lost Keys as being inside the head of someone tripping balls in a hospital... you begin to make relation to the physical world again as he starts to notice the ambiant sounds around him and then even speach... Rosetta Stoned is simply him trying to vocalize his thoughts as asked by the doctor... "Picture this if you will"
