I just recently turned 18, so I won't be doing anything soon... But once I finally decide what it is that I wanted branded on me for the rest of my life, you can rest assured it will be great.
All my tattoos have a story behind them.
Some are just bandlogos, others are one of a kind.
Im gonna do the Tool logo (lateralus) on my underarm soon.
It just fits in there.
no band tattoos yet, but I've got 8 so far... all pretty personal meetings, and i just now started getting some that are just things that I like... not so much meaning behind them.
To me, nothing is more inspiring than Tool's music. Why would I NOT look to something symbolic of them for artwork that I will wear for the rest of my life??? The fact is- a tattoo is forever, and you should be proud of an inspirational piece of art on your body (whatever it's origin) whether its been done only once or 10,000 times. If you feel that something is important enough to you to wear for the rest of your life, then do it. What other people say really shouldn't even factor into your decision if it's that important to you...
Hey kids, I am all for anyone getting any tattoo that they feel appropriate for their body. The key is that it is their body, so even if lame computer software geeks think that it's lame, who gives a shit. I have thought for a LONG time on whether I would want my first tattoo to be an Alex Grey piece. I definitely love his work, but have not yet found the right piece to make me put something permanent on my body. If I do, I certainly will not give a shit what others think about it. In case anyone is interested, you can see a lot more tats on http://www.alexgrey.com/ . Go to archive then tattoo...enjoy!! Peace the fuck out!

Why not do something original? I cant stand people who put direct copies/almost-copies of band artwork, band logo's etc etc on as tattoos, tattoos are supposed to be personal things, not, look at me, im tool fan #2749570 who wanted a tattoo so i copied some tool artwork. Inspiration & Copying are two very different things. Nice looking tat, but common, surely uve got more imagination than that?
thats a very selfish comment, your criticizing him thru your viewpoint of originality. apparently originality means so much to you that u'd like to penalize ppl for it, but I mean come on, maybe he wants to be tool fan 900000. Thats what i want to do, I want to get a tool tatoo on my arm of "The benevolent sun" image from videos in tools concerts. I want ppl to know that I honor TOOL very much, so much that i cant even begin to explain to u

I'd like to get a puzzle piece cut-out on my neck. That'd be my Tool-inspired tattoo.

Hi everyone. Was just bored checking out forums and stumbled across this... I've seen some positive and negative opinions on 'tool tattoos'. I have a two actually I thought I'd share. I don't really consider them 'tool' to me as it wasn't really a direct omage to the band, more of images I loved from a band that had some deep meaning to me. I took all that and related it to my own life.... Anyway!
Uhhh... how can you possibly not consider them Tool tattoos?
Those are Tool tattoos.
There's really no wiggle room on that.
Sorry - I suppose I should clarify... well first off the chest is an alex grey peice not 'tool art' - and the second i give you no argument. I just said i didn't get them because I thought "Fuck yeah TOOL man!" I just liked the art, and it had meaning to me in my life. When I see them I see that meaning, not 'tool'.
I can get behind that. But the piece off the chest is in fact widely considered Tool art -- the eyeflame came to prominence in Grey's work thanks to its use in Lateralus. Moreover, you wouldn't say that the rib tat is unrelated to Tool because Cam De Leon created it... unless you were just fucking stupid.
Never said it wasn't related ;) that's why it's posted here. I just said it wasn't done as a direct tribute to tool.
I have three Tool tats. The wrench on my left arm, eyes everywhere, the self satisfying man from Aenima and an adaptation of Chet Zar's pill head. I am learning how to upload photos. give me time as I am an old man and not proficient with technology. However, being old is a bonus since I saw them at the Hollywood Palladium in 1992. Amazing.
Someone contacted me ages ago to do my interpretation of Lateralus. Never heard back from the dude after he purchased it from me though. So I haven't seen it actually inked on his body. But supposedly, there's someone walking around with this on his back. If you see it, tell him I said hi.
