Sir I shake your hand. When I saw them with SOAD, what attracted me was the creativity of Jon, but when I saw them last april in Berkeley, it seems like every fill was a triplet on the snare to rolling off on the toms, nothing different, and he butchered the two songs off deloused they played. I dont know his name, but along with amputechture kinda sounding repetitive I wouldn't pay to see them live again. Oh...unless it was with Tool in San Francisco. But it doesn't look like thats going to be happening...

You just made my night. Literally, I don't care if live105 is fucking with everyone, thats an epic sign! Other than that, does Serj have a lil side-project going? It'd be wierd to see him on stage at slims, thats for sure haha. I'll always remember seeing NOFX last year at slims and they're so trashed they can't play anything right. I can't wait for that live cd to come out!

Agreed. Jon and Danny were my two favorite drummers for a while.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
right behind you in row e center section! going for a pair, it gave me way upstairs hard left pair and i threw them back and went for a single and hit the home run.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Congrats to everyone.
So what was the preferred method of dealing with TM? I had a rep on the phone starting about 15 minutes before sale time. He was the one who hit the home run for me. I was searching on the website at the and could not bring up anything.

Has anyone here seen another artist at this venue before? It looks like it could have an acoustic clarity similar to the Pearl.
it's a new venue. i'm going to see mastadon and queens there next monday night. i'll be in the loge in the center section so i'll try to remember to post a 'sound quality reivew' of some kind here.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
This sucks, I agree, it's like it was sold out before it went onsale.
Normally if it says 'sold out' right at 10am, I just wait a while and seats open up...this is bad, its been almost 2 hours now, haven't pulled anything at all.

Row W should be an excellent seat for ya! In fact, I would be fine if the tickets I get for the second show are in the Loge. Tool has a pretty cool floor show that you don't get to see if you are up close.
I used the phone rep method. Really nice guy and he was also a Tool fan. He knew the show was going to sell instantly so he was right on top of at 10:00am sharp. Good thing too! That show was sold out in a matter of minutes.
Maybe we'll see ya there! Did you book your hotel yet? Some of those hotels are pretty nice over there (although the area in general is meh) so having a beer at the hotel before hand might be a good call. There is also a place called the Fox Sports Skybox is right across the street from Nokia and is pretty cool. Nokia probably has something in it as well.

No hotel for me, my old man lives out in Pasadena so I am going out there for a week. I am all for a couple of beers before the show. I still can't believe I anm going to be seeing Tool in my old birthplace. I lived out in Cali for 14 years before moving out to Oklahoma when I was a youngster. So sonny do you think they will release a 2nd show? Also, good point about the projections on the floor of the stage, I had forgotten they did that. I have not seen a show from an above angle so it will be different. I imagine the acoustics in Nokia are top notch????

Ah- well that certainly makes your visit pretty simple.
I sure hope so on the second show. I mean, I told my buddy and his two friends who want to see them to hold out for the second show to go on sale since it will be easier to get four decent seats together. That promptly went south when they decided not to put the second show on sale today like they did with the Staples show, and now they are screwed out of the first show if they really do decide to just do the one (which would puzzle the hell out of me since they could probably sell out four nights at the Nokia).
As for the Nokia acoustics, there should be some reviews out now for those opening shows with the Eagles/Dixie Chicks. I would imagine it sounds great there (like the Pearl).

Sonny,
Don't worry about the first show being sold out. Ticketmaster does this all the time. I guarauntee that if not today, they will release more tickets in the very near future. With all due respect to Tool, there's no way they sold out 7,000 seats in two minutes.
In fact, two days ago just for the hell of it I tried to pull up Eagles tickets and got 6th row center. They'd sell out much faster than Tool, but a few weeks after the onsale date there were obviously still great (expenstive) seats available.

Sterile-
They really did sell all the tickets that quickly. I spoke with my friend at AEG and he verified all 7000 gone in about 10 minutes.
The re-released seats you are able to bring up over time before the event are the result of several things
- returned tickets (bad address, etc)
- release of seats held by the venue for band/press, etc
- new seats added (chairs, etc)
Those are just a couple of reasons off the top of my head. But the show is indeed fully sold out. And tragically scalpers probably got the majority of the tickets :(.
I got sixth row from the stage for the first night in San Diego by searching every day though. So you are right that you can score some pretty good seats for a 'sold out' show if you just stay after it.
The only real drawback there is you rarely see more than one, MAYBE two, seats together if you do it that way.

The eagles are playing like 5 shows there though...
