Re: 2006/09/23 - Toronto, ON - Molson Amphitheatre
My friend who I volunteer for at the local youth centre works security for shows, and this is one of them, and he told me he got that info and percentage straight from his supervisor.
Re: 2006/09/23 - Toronto, ON - Molson Amphitheatre
Tool are not cancelling the show, calm down.
For a few reasons:
1. It does seem that Maynard is legitimately sick from reviews.
2. The sales for that Madison, WI show were in the shitter for some reason, which would make the band more inclined to cancel, let Maynard rest for today and tomorrow (there is no show tomorrow night) and be back in good form for their gigs in Columbus and Detroit (big show) and Toronto. I just cant imaging them cancelling or postponing a gig here because of illness, especially when all 17,000 tickets sold out in hours. Toronto is a major market and the show will not be post-ponded unless Maynard really cannot recuperate from his illness.
Keep this in mind, if Columbus and Detroit gets cancelled...worry
if some small 50% sold show in a shithole like Madison, Wisconsin gets cancelled when Maynard is sick....I wont worry.
Re: 2006/09/23 - Toronto, ON - Molson Amphitheatre
Woah.
I really, REALLY hope this show doesn't get canned.
For my sake and my fiance's sake. I have a lot riding on this show. Great. Now I'm freaking out. :) :)
This show sold out in a few hours. The Detroit show still has lower bowl tickets available. If they really are going by ticket sales, then they'll cancel D-town and keep this show.
I have tickets for both, so I'm hoping that both are still on! I would be more disappointed about this one being cancelled, even though Detroit is my hometown. I really want to surprise Steve!! *bites nails*
Re: 2006/09/23 - Toronto, ON - Molson Amphitheatre
I just listened to the aforementioned radio broadcast with Justin. He was never asked directly Maynard's status but he did say that he was coming on strong - a little contradictory unless tonight is kind of a rest before the last "peak" of his recovery. He played a bit of verbal dodge ball. Sounds like a nice guy but I was stunned by the last comment. I mean, even if you don't like The Beatles, it is hard not to respect them. To say f$%% hates them, pretty strong words. I hate to judge based on one comment but a little narrow focused? He may just have been annoyed that yet another American DJ assumes everyone with an English accent adores The Beatles, kind of like Americans believing Canadians all play hockey and live in igloos.
Overall feeling now - they will be playing on Saturday!!

Definitely not. It's adam picking the A string between the bridge and tailpiece of his les paul - trust me on this one. (I'm talking about the very first noises in Eulogy)
Re: 2006/09/23 - Toronto, ON - Molson Amphitheatre
All I'm saying is that if Maynard got sick again, and they knew after Madison there was a full day off, and the Madison show had pretty poor ticket sales, then obviously Maynard, the band and the managment viewed cancelling that show as...expendable.
I'm pretty sure coming into two big venues, in big markets this weekend, is a much higher priority.
Re: 2006/09/23 - Toronto, ON - Molson Amphitheatre
murph83 - the mjk quote (in my sig.) comes from a 10,000 days press INT. (done down under I believe) done w/ the sick one (I'll find the specifics)
According to murph83's link there is no make-up date to b rescheduled for the 19th's Wisconsin show, It has been cancelled
... but the entry (on the Official site) for the San Antonio gig (for the 12th ) that was Postponed states - Please HOLD ON to your tickets and stand by for further information, It is being rescheduled
Toronto, as w/ Detroit are major markets (they know 10,000 days went platinum here)
If (and I say IF) the Toronto show were 2 b postponed, I'm sure it would b rescheduled and not cancelled
Now something to ponder -
The Q for everyone is: Would you rather see MJK Saturday at half-speed or see MJK L8r in full-health?

As much as i would like to say later at full health, I have to say half-speed since I am paying $500 just for transportation to Toronto, so if the show is rescheduled, I probably won't be able to make it back.

Re: 2006/09/23 - Toronto, ON - Molson Amphitheatre
I agree murph, I hate to be selfish but I've got way too much riding on this weekend. From the reviews for the other shows where he was sick, people still said it was an awesome concert.
Re: 2006/09/23 - Toronto, ON - Molson Amphitheatre
It wouldn't affect me as much if it were postponed because I live in Toronto and I'm pretty sure I could make the rescheduled date...
HOWEVER my buddy is flying in from the east coast just to see this show so it would really suck if the show didn't happen on Saturday....for his sake...

Re: 2006/09/23 - Toronto, ON - Molson Amphitheatre
Sianspheric's logic plays out.
Wisconsin's ticket sales were poor, and Tool is coming into two major markets (Detroit and Toronto). He's resting his voice for two solid days before Columbus, Detroit and Toronto. According to Justin last night, Maynard's getting stronger and will be ready. See you all there...

Well I'll be. At first, a long time ago, I thought it was Adam picking but was told it was Danny (which really blew my mind considering the complexity of the other rhythms he was doing at the same time.) Now that I've fired up some old videos for the specific purpose of watching Adam, I see that you are correct.

Alright well im gunna be a postive thinker and say (with no actual facts to back this up so dont quote me) the Toronto show is deffinately with out a doubt, going to happen exactly as planned. And its gunna absolute blow everyones minds. I've played it out in my head a 1000 times and it always ends this way. So there you have it. Right from the scource. See everyone in THREE F#*CKIN DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: 2006/09/23 - Toronto, ON - Molson Amphitheatre
How bad do you want to see tool? I have a spare ticket for sale for a private box in the back of the 200’s. I only have one ticket so if anyone is interested they would be sitting with six friends and I. There is no price printed on the ticket. I will not charge anymore then the other 7 of us had to pay. Please contact me via email or PM if you are interested.

Re: 2006/09/23 - Toronto, ON - Molson Amphitheatre
Time for some shameless plugging.
My friend just started a Tool posters website, if you have any posters that aren't on this site, please let me know and we can put it up on the site.
Some of the posters are still in print, but some are auction-only. He does NOT control the auctions, so don't e-mail me screaming about the damn prices of the auctions.
Re: 2006/09/23 - Toronto, ON - Molson Amphitheatre
I would love to see the show postponed. I would feel genuinely bad for every fan that is affected in a negative way by the cancellation, but then I would be able to go.
That way I can go to the stupid wedding on Saturday, buy expensive tickets from scalpers and hit the show on the new date! All will be good in the world then, and Maynard will be feeling better.

Healthy Maynard and Tool hit Toronto Saturday night!
