Medieval Spawn in ink

Here are two of my drawings of Medieval Spawn. They were drawn in pencil and then shaded with ink. The quality of the scans isn't all that great (diagonal lines aren't supposed to be there) because I scanned the copies I made, not the originals.

Thanks!

LOL...I saw your thread. Well, I could maybe. I haven't drawn much lately, these are pretty old. It depends on the medium I guess.

Lots and lots of detail in the second picture, which is excellent.

One mean machine.

Re: Medieval Spawn in ink

Thanks all.

I like the first picture better, actually. It was my first attempt ever at a very detailed drawing. I did those in high school.

Shame... you have a good eye for detail.

Re: Medieval Spawn in ink

Thanks Aezarian. I haven't a whole lot of time lately for just sitting down and drawing something. I've got a kid now and I'm also working on making pillows so I can start a business on eBay. Those things take precedence, I suppose.

I definitely understand. I have three but my youngest is ten and the other two are teenagers so I have a little freedom because they are starting to demand independence. They are still a lot of work yet though!

I am trying to get myself in the habit of finding fifteen minutes a day to enjoy a hobby but it isn't easy. I need that "warm up" time so I prefer sitting down with something when I have at least an hour to play with it. The fifteen minutes does help some though. It keeps me from feeling like my life is all work....all the time.

Re: Medieval Spawn in ink

Wow, three...you're probably more busy than I could imagine. I've just got one, but she's three. I do draw cartoon characters for her room on occasion, so I haven't stopped drawing entirely, just the really time taking, detailed stuff.

Noooo.... I have three very exceptionally well behaved children. They were all three once though and I do not envy you one bit. They are a joy at that age but they are the definition of work also.

Re: Medieval Spawn in ink

Great work. Spawn is hard to draw too, Todd McFarlane being one of the best and detailed comic book artists I have seen (loved his Spider-man stuff).

You should scan in the originals and play around with some colour in Photoshop. I kinda liked how this one has the lines through it.

Awesome stuff.

Re: Medieval Spawn in ink

Thanks!

The lines going through it really bother me. I had copies made at Kinko's a long time ago and that's how they all turned out, I've got the originals in frames and I don't want to keep taking those out.

I found those pictures in some Spawn magazine, but they were in color. I thought they'd be awesome in black and white. Using only black ink for shading, it took a lot of time to get it just right.

Re: Medieval Spawn in ink

I'd have liked to see more of these.

Does anyone do anything similar, with just black ink?
