It sucks...
any one can make a highly detailed picture...with some practice...of corse:)
But the hardes thing is to make a picture with some fealing...
...example...TOOL have one drummer,one singer,one guitarist & one bassist...
And they rule...
She is a photo copy machine that works with a brush...
...I hope you understand what i am trying to say:)
you photo copied too, it was just weird heads and stuff, which is interesting for a time, but its just as cliched now as anyhting else thats ever been done.
i kind of like that the kid has a painting called jesus, the missing years. she demonstrates real spiritual thought. or photo copies. either way it was interesting.
i dunno if she actually did all this though. just cause im paranoid and it would be typical of some artist to try and pass it off as eleven year old work, just because its much more profound when a child draws universes and stuff.
dance of the mind has morning glorys on it... thats all im saying. also prince of peace has hugh jackmans haircut from x men
now that ive expressed my subconcious jealousy... id like to again say i think its cool.

yea but she did some of it when she was like 7 years old...
just think of what she'll be when she's like 20 or 30 if she keeps it up

well yes...but she is an autist...hope i spelled that right.
She still has to have some more experiance at creativity.
My brother said to me...you can have knowledge from a book.
but experiance...you build that...i guess he is right. :)

When i said photo copy...i meant she is a good drawer...not a good artist...
...plus...i am not the topic here...she is.
one time paraflux didnt post his own art here.. maybe, it was interact or breaking news though. some guy drawing dust drawings all over the place. on his car.
She is an amazing artist, regardless of age. I don't think the compisitions are predictable and her paintings have soul that runneth over. Predictable would have been. . . .here let me show you the artwork of my 8 year old friend . . .and then reveal a notebook of stick figures. . .that would have been predictable. Frankly i'm not certain of how this could be construed as anything other than amazing. The ego in this thread is baffling.

I don't know how many profound thoughts a 10 year old can have, but when she has some experience in life it'll be interesting to see how her artwork develops in theme. Because she obviously has a rare talent. Dig up some of your drawings from when you were her age for comparison, then tell me it sucks. In fact, try to paint what you see in a photograph now and post it here. Then we can compare your skills.
What you are all failing to see, is that our younger generations are becoming superior to us at an extraordinary rate. We are seeing more and more of these kid geniuses, and really if gives me hope that when I am growing old that they can have things under control. They will be futher advanced than our current money minded generation in power. This is just one channel of the amazing power these humans have. By her paintings I can tell that she has more intellect than many of the worker drones in the country.

Quoted for goddamntruth.
It saddens me though, because there's a good chance she'll just develop into Thomas Kinkade junior with the kind of "support" she's getting.

Jesus Christ, PAINTING as an ART is not about PAINTING PHOTOGRAPHS.
Sure it is. Does it make a statement? No. Is it pleasing to the eye enough to where people would buy it and hang it on the wall? Yes. And in that aspect, it is ART. It might be simple in concept, but still art.
It's not like she's painting by numbers or tracing, it is a skill and it takes talent. Not any idiot can just grab a photo and paint what they see. Some people can get there with practice, some people are born with the ability and there are those who couldn't do it if you locked them in a room for 15 years with nothing but photos, paint, brushes and some canvas. VERY RARELY would you find a person of this age with this ability.
What she does is amazing for a person their age. Period.
I'm challenging anyone who wants to downplay what this girl does... try it. If you can do better, great. If not, quit knocking it.

Drawing is an artform. Seems that the problem here is you want make the definition of art more complicated than it really is.
Some great messages can be conveyed in art. But they aren't necessary or required for it to be considered art by definition. Is a portrait of a person not considered art? What makes your drawing of a DNA strand art, and her painting of Jesus... not?
I don't get where you are coming from. And I also find it funny that you expect the art of a 10 year old to be profound in meaning. Most meaningful art comes from life experience, and a 10 year old is pretty short on that. Which is why I said earlier, it will be interesting to see how she develops when she goes through some life experiences.

She's a very talented illustrator. That doesn't make her a talented artist, but I honestly didn't look at enough to decide whether or not she is, and it's not like my judgement is omniscient anyway.
What I do know is that people often mistake good illustrations as good art, and that I feel sorry for the girl, she is being exploited to a degree. If she weren't, they would just be posted online as paintings with no references to who she is or how old she is--the paintings would speak for themselves.
Which leads me to point out this: if these were done by a 40-year-old, would they impress you visually? If not...then there's your answer. The only reason that it draws attention is because we assume that children are inexperienced and therefore less talented by default (you can tell by the way people keep saying "What did you draw when you were 8?").
And to answer anyone's future snide remarks, no I can't do better. But that is pretty much irrelevant--as an artist, your critics will all be idiots who can't do better, and you still have to please them. But I'm not criticizing her anyway, I'm just saying she is neither an amazing artist nor do her paintings suck. I don't get any of her feelings out of her illustrations, amazing though they may be--but part of that is no doubt the pressure put on her to paint certain ways/things.

Would you be amazed with 10 year old beating a grown man in a game of one on one basketball? Would it amaze you if that grown man happened to be a professional athelete? Because at the age of 10, this girl is on par with most employable illustrators working in the field. That's why I keep saying that it will be interesting to see what she produces later in life, because her skills are already at a professional level from a technical standpoint.

You are damn right...now that's i've been trying to say...
oh, okay ill agree with you then.. but you forgot 'what'
i kinda changed my mind. but i still agree that it would be alot less impressive if she wasnt eleven. and yeah they have to 'exploit' her in order for it to matter. not that i support this.. unless she told them to tell evveryone she was eleven.. or soemthiogno alot less rule 1a

You are damn wrong...that is entirely what I was trying not to say!
Has anyone read the 'questions and answers' section?
What i love about this whole story, whether or not it's true, is the innocence. God gives her all these answers to questions she's never asked, and she just accepts them and moves on. This girl has all the secrets of the universe in her lunchbox yet she's never hungry.
[QUOTE=TEST; blahblahblah i hate kids who are smarter than me... blah... blah... endquote.
Don't get me wrong, I don't want you to be dead, i hope you live a long, pointless life with your ignorance; you are already dead though, so it makes sense that you would be so: it would make reality more sensible.
The girl makes art, some create, others mimic. I'll bet you've tried to sing a tool song.
She has talent, and she uses it with good intentions.
You have hate, so your talent is nothing but angry masturbations put in full view of those who don't deserve to suffer through the confines of your Hell. I don't need to see your work to know that. Send some anyway, i'd like to be certain.
If you had read a thing the girl wrote in there, she says some pretty interesting shit about where the paintings come from, for a child, incredibly concise and poignent.
You fear what you don't understand.
Enjoy the void.
