the 2nd and 3rd ones are interesting. i think if they were take by something besides a phone, they would be better. though, the low quality sensor does add some appeal.

First I must say... There are some inspiring photographs and talented photographers in this thread!

As for the photo, I took this hanging around the guitar shop waiting for my daughter to get out of guitar practice.

Re: Photo of the Day

wow. I am so not a "get on a plane and fly" type of person so the view is actually a little intimidating. I like it though. The clouds are beautiful, the back end of the engine gives it context and the lens flare gives it more of a heavenly feeling. Nice~

Re: Photo of the Day

Interesting silhouette aabb. The sunset is absolutely beautiful.

I guess my photo for the day is a little morbid. My kids found this actually hanging from a tree in backyard. We just moved here recently so I have to wonder, for it to be nothing but bones, how long had it actually been there unnoticed?

Both interesting subjects and I particularly like the composition of the first. Did you notice what looks like some form of white fowl in the background?

Why yes I do! That was such a great movie.

Now I am seeing all kinds of stuff. Maybe that is a fineindication that I should be in bed!

Re: Photo of the Day

Today was a little busy but it was a nice bright overcast day so I had to make time to work on one of my primary color weaknesses... vibrant red. I also primarily do structures, people, and animals so I am trying to broaden my horizons and get more into landscape and botanical subjects. I did a lot of research on improving the capture of this color to no avail so I was actually pretty excited to find out that one of the fundamental problems was the on-camera saturation setting that I never gave a second thought. This is why I always tell people they shouldn't be offended when something doesn't work and they are asked if it is plugged in. It is so easy to miss the small things! This is still a far cry from perfection but by changing that setting and working with curves and levels a little in APS I am seeing vast improvement which excites me. It sure does beat the red blobs I ended up with yesterday!

Anyway....

Thanks for looking!

Thanks, and yeah I saw that in the background too. But after looking at an enlarged version I think it's actually just a rock with a white post next to it.

Here's a few more photos from the same trip, this time in and around Big Sur.

I know what you mean. It's hard to compare a place like that to more dramatic landscapes like snowy mountains or canyons, etc. But as far as relatively plain scenery goes, this is probably one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Just something about the way the light filtered through the trees.
