Re: My Miniature painting hobby

Thanks :)

Took pretty long in overall time. But I didn't paint every day, effective time I think it would be 2 weeks, every day an hour at least.

Re: My Miniature painting hobby

Your Battlefleet figures look awesome, I am not familiar with the game, so I don't know the army / faction, but I particularly liked the clean white ships.

Nice :) I hadn't scoped out this sub forum before. I started playing WH40K back around 1992-4 somewhere around there, before it was officially imported stateside our local magic shop owner who had family in the UK started importing the stuff. Anyhow, I paint miniatures for my artistic outlet as well. I've stuck with 40K primarily but I got into Blood Bowl for a while so i've got Humie, Stuntie and Orc teams, I sold off most of my Elves but I have saves a few, I did a Harlequin themed Elf Blood Bowl team that came out awesome, I kick myself for selling them.

If I can ever be bothered to read up on image posting maybe I'll show a few I've done over the years.

Right now I'm on a model kick, but I have a Forge World Eldar Titan on my workbench, primed, nearly ready for paint and inspiration. (I've got to drill and rod the lasers the resin warped and I don't want them drooping over time) I actually broke out the olde caligraphy set and started practicing because I plan to involve some elvish script in the finished paint job, but I still have some sketching to do to get the scheme I have in mind to fit the model properly.

Cool thread, thanks for sharing.

Re: My Miniature painting hobby

Photobucket is easy to use.

Thanks for the compliments.

FW Eldar titan = pwnage.

Clean white ships = Forgeworld Tau range.

I have a couple image hosting accounts, Just gotta read the rules and instructions for image posting to the boards here. Toolnavy doesn't appear to be idiot proofed so I better make sure I do it right before I make the Dan-meister enforce "correction" :)

I should have recognized the designs as Tau, I have consistently been a fan of their ships and armor (Armour?) in the 40K range.

I've actually got a pair of human sized 40K Beaky marine helmets and a bolter, one of the helmets is finished in the scheme of a dead friend's army, the other is still just a raw casting and the bolt gun is awaiting inspiration too. I've got waaaay too many half finished projects going.

Re: My Miniature painting hobby

That is pretty awesome stuff. Where do you put it all? Do you sell it? It's high quality, man! Ever think about getting paid to paint miniatures? Hobbies do not need quotas, though. Nice work!

Heya,
thanks, I have two cabinets for it. And I sold a lot of old miniatures (40k/fantasy) to aquire new ones (Battlefleet Gothic/Lord of the Rings). Getting paid to paint means you must paint. It'll hamper my enthusiasm to paint severly.

Re: My Miniature painting hobby

Wow, photobucket and the harassment of 2016(?) surely messed this thread.

But about those last ones: I completed that project in 2015:

Quote:
Well, yes, that is a way to say it. A couple of years ago (2010...) I had a sparkle of inspiration. Why did the Imperium call the Corsair Eldar ships after old Terra grown flowers like the Nightshade en Hemlock? Only because of their comparable sting? Or perhaps their colouring? With that latter I went and started to repaint my old Corsair models using images of the flowers as an inspiration.

Of course that meant I had to find inspiration for the capital ships as well. A name as Aurora made it easy, Solaris a tad more tricky but Eclipse and Shadow required some thinking on how to paint.
It is something that applied to all models, they were kinda painted outside the "BFG-box"of colouring. Some may like it, others perhaps not. :)

No more ramblings here they come!
Hemlock Destroyer:

Nightshade Destroyer

Aconite Frigate

Hellebore Frigate
