Re: 2006/06/13-14 - Hammersmith, UK - Apollo

anyone got a guess at what time the gig will finish? having a nightmare getting back to cardiff for 9am the following day. the latest train going is at 22.45, do you think they'd be done by 10? if they're playing short sets it seems quite likely, but I don't want to have to miss the end.

Think it will only end that early if there are no supports tbh

You have to walk right past it if you are walking from Hammersmith Tube Station to the Apollo
Can anyone confirm this is Witherspoon's? I'd hate to go by the advice of someone with 3 posts, and find out no one's there + I get raped. :(

I think I could make an arrival in the 5 O'Clock margin, I just hope not everyone's rushing to get to the doors early. Queues start to form around the 6:30 mark I'd say, enough time for another PINT. :D

Not long now, just hope my cough/cold goes in time :(

Is anyone planning on recording the 14th show atall? I was gonna take my mp3 player but the chances of actually getting a clear recording are pretty much nil.

if there isnt a support act and doors are 7:30 does that mean we have to wait in the venue for 2 hours or so before tool or will they come on early?

it'd be good to know as i'm coming quite far for this gig

That means 2 hours before hand of getting very, very fucking hot and bothered, oh well, it'll be worth it!

Just hope the venue doesn't start taking bottles of water off people.*_*

Hey, can someone let me know if this turns out to be a nonsmoking show? I'm dying to see them on Thursday, but I have severe asthma and can't breathe indoors if the smoke is bad. Talk about lame..... :-(

hey tim that is really unfortunate. I'd suggest checking out the Hammersmith Apollo website. Usually it is venue regulation on smoking. But even if it is nonsmoking, there will still be people smoking anyway. I hope you can go, but also hope you dont go Thursday, because isn't playing then. :)

Good luck

Re: 2006/06/13-14 - Hammersmith, UK - Apollo

When I saw APC at the Apollo the band had requested no one smoke and there were actually people wandering around making sure it was enforced, so hopefully the same will happen again...

You should be OK smoke wise. I'm a smoker but i appreciate non smokers. It's a big venue so you should be OK. I hate fuckers who light up ciggarettes down the front.

Yeah, Wednesday I mean! I was so psyched to see them at Donington because it was outdoors, but as other people have noted at the APC concert last year they asked people not to smoke. For those of you that are lucky enough to go to Tuesday (tonights) show, could you confirm?

Wow..... I'm still on a high after the Download Festival.... caught one of Danny's drumsticks, was thoroughly rocked inside out, can it get any better?

Happy to!

They were immense at Download, and well done on catching Danny's stick. As for them getting better....I think so, a longer set, a more intimate setting.....bring it on!

Re: 2006/06/13-14 - Hammersmith, UK - Apollo

Has anyone tried phoning the venue to ask about on-stage times etc? I'm having a lot of trouble finding a phone number, or even an official website (it seems Carling no longer sponsers them). The best I've managed is here:

http://www.theatremonkey.com/HAMMERSMITHbooking.htm

which basically says that you can only call Ticketmaster :-( I'm very keen not to stand around for two hours waiting for them to come on, but I also don't want to miss them...

A lot of people at TA are meeting at the Wetherspoons.

Anyways, I have two tickets available because a friend isn't going to make it.
One for today (13th) seating ticket to sit next to me! And one for tomorrow, a standing ticket. PM me if you're still looking for tickets with your mobile number and we'll get in touch.

security might take it away or nick it during the gig and give it back after. They will try to block you. Get in the middle :)

Re: 2006/06/13-14 - Hammersmith, UK - Apollo

does anyone know the situation of support bands/where we could find out? This is my first time seeing them, and when i got my ticket in the mail 2 months ago, it said special guests. This means i want guests. i couldn't give a shit if they're some garage band from around the corner- i paid £37 for Tool+guests, i want Tool+guests.

...or a fucking long set.

Re: 2006/06/13-14 - Hammersmith, UK - Apollo

I saw them on the laterlaus tour and really rocked my world on how good live bands can be, waited a long time for this and cannot wait for tonight to start but I certinaly can wait for it to finish.

On the last tour the support band was pretty much ignored and I think they cleared off a couple of mins early

I hope security don't take water bottles away is gonna be friggin hot in there ( it was for the Clive Burr iron maiden gig last september )

I was at APC. they did indeed have security going around with flash lights. I'l test it out for ya ! ! roffle.

Tool will start their set between 2000-2115.

I saw them last at Brixton on the Lateralus tour too. I havn't been this excited or ages. I leave in an hour. Im going to sit outside and get FUCKED UP. I'l be in a NIN shirt. im guessing that won't exactly single me out....

Re: 2006/06/13-14 - Hammersmith, UK - Apollo

Just called the venue about tonight so persume it'll be the same tomorrow.....Doors 6pm, no support so Tool on at 8pm due to finish 10.30pm.....Whilst that sounds about right for a band with 4 albums and an EP, and the price of the tickets, judging from headlining sets of this tour i doubt it will be that long....here's hoping though

8pm start sounds very early - it's Tools way to keep everyone waiting and I really dont expect a 2 1/2 hour setlist this evening. Still.. who's going to risk turning up late?

Re: 2006/06/13-14 - Hammersmith, UK - Apollo

Hmm... 8:30pm start would be better *if* indeed that's when they come on, although I can't see them treating this gig any differently than they would say, Glasgow or anywhere else in Europe tbh.

In anycase, this will be the 3rd time I've seen em' come this evening, only problem is the fucking tubes are up shit creek. Again. Hope they get em' sorted soon.

Doors opening on my tickets say 7pm.

Re: 2006/06/13-14 - Hammersmith, UK - Apollo

I have to say, that does sound unlikely, considering the tour so far. Also, the ticket indicates that doors are at 7pm, not 6. Although, I have heard of venues opening their doors an hour early recently.

I guess I'm not willing to take the risk, though. If they do play a 2.5 hr set, I think I'll wet myself.

Re: 2006/06/13-14 - Hammersmith, UK - Apollo

I think we'll be very, very lucky if they play a 2 hour plus set. 2 hours at a push, but I don't seem them deviating much from the set-list that's been played on previous occassions tbh.

Would be nice if they played 'Wings..' mind or even if they kick-off like they did last time I see em'.

Danny strolls on stage to huge ovation. Jumps straight into a drum-solo before the other members stroll on and the drum-solo suddenly melds into the opening bars of 'Ticks & Leeches'. Fucking awesome that was!!
